0City of Kyle 2015 Survey Results

The 2015 Household Survey (Appendix A) was mailed in the utility bill in February, 2015 to 8,549 residences in the Kyle city limits. Since the survey did not reach all Kyle residents (i.e. those living in apartments or those requesting no paper bill) a copy of the survey was provided online. Of the 8,549 surveys mailed, 452 were returned for a 5.3% response rate. The response rate provides an average margin of error of 5.9% at a 99% confidence interval. In other words, we can be 99% sure that the responses below are within 6% of how the entire population of the City of Kyle would have responded. As this is the first year of this survey, future surveys will be benchmarked to this data.

Appendix D: Additional Comments

1. Customer Service-not being rude, entitled city employee 2. The charge for minimum water usage is too high. 3. I love living in Kyle! Just moved here! 4. We have a beautiful library but we really need to improve the number and quality of the books. 5. It is terrible to not be able to talk to a “person", when you call the city number. Every time a "human" finally answers the phone-she is extremely rude!!! 6. Kyle appears to pay a lot of attention to developers at the expense of homeowners. 7. No taxi service-we are both in our 80's & he has Alzheimer’s & can't drive & I have macular degeneration so we will soon be in trouble. 8. When I call or come by the office to pay my bill, I feel that there is a need for better customer service. I've gotten an impression that I wasn't important, that it was inconvenient to help me. 9. Education seems like people here take PTA meetings to choose who is important or not. Parent Teacher Assembly Please!! No money collecting time . . . . 10. Hate my neighborhood. They don't keep up their yard. The road to HEB be better, easier to get to. Have to go all the way through town, just to go to HEB. 11. Stop that train horn! 12. I live in Bunton Creek Village (many city problems). 1)no city water, county water is too hard! 2) Lien on my home from PID! 3) Roads are horrible!!! 4) Response time from police is long 5) school zone traffic blocks roads 13. The nicest thing would be having a commuter rail or bus system for people working in Austin, giving them the option of not driving. 14. How can contractors like D. R. Horton etc., get away with putting in subpar roads in subdivision then turn over to city. 15. Water shortage 16. I moved to Kyle from out of state and had a difficult time establishing trash service. I had to call 8 times and I received unhelpful and often times rude service. 17. Late water bills 18. Bicyclists, allowing children to play, walkers, homeschoolers 19. Library - updated books 20. Customer service is sub par. It seems as if staff is not interested in providing excellent service, just a paycheck job. 21. Possible police substation on east side of 35 due to train crossing 22. The City square will never be attractive as long as there is a used car dealership located there. I am totally for free enterprise but couldn't the City arrange a property swap and encourage the business to move off the square. 23. Solicitors on city streets. Should be a city ordinance against it. 24. Please make sure we have adequate water. 25. A new slogan as a gateway welcome: "Smile, You're in Kyle" 26. Lighting especially for Amberwood subdivision 27. Property taxes 80 years old. 28. Maybe making more teen focused community programs will help with youth delinquency and vandalism! 29. Lots of street lights out -doesn't anyone check these? 30. Traffic and traffic law violators in neighborhoods and school zones. Let's enforce a hands free cell phone while driving policy like Austin has done. 31. Something major needs to be changed. Our water bill is entirely too high. Our water rates are too high. (Traffic at Hwy 35 over cross at Kyle Parkway is ridiculous.) At least make lights longer. 32. Water bill is too high and the quality of water is not even good. 33. As like many city employees it always seems as there are not enough people available to meet the needs of the public, similar to the DMV. 34. pot holes in roads, stray animals, not enough restaurants or retail 35. Too many new housing projects-too much residential density for the level of existing infrastructure 36. Power of HOAs-excessive 37. Entrance into Silverado sub road needs to have a turning lane especially when traveling from City of Kyle sub to Center Street. When cars are coming up the hill at a high rate of speed somebody is going to get killed when stopped to turn into the Silverado subdivision. A turning lane is needed. 38. The staff in the city office at which water payments are made always seem to be talking rather than working. 39. Customer service is important to me, please return calls or emails especially the utility dept. This is important especially if you need to know if services will be disconnected. 40. Lots of dogs without leaches-running loose-they let them outside to use bathroom in our yards 41. Public Works recently fixed my street. They were so efficient and very friendly. 42. Property taxes are too high 43. Are we going to have every inch of green made into apts or homes?

44. Safe walking-bike paths on I-35 frontage roads-very dangerous. 45. Trash along I-35 as we drive to Kyle, trash blowing in neighborhoods, stray cats, on trash days, telephone service out for a day without explanation, power outage day, needing assistance with fire alarms, train whistle blowing at night, gunshot sound late on a Saturday, bush blocking view from Lowe's parking, new light needed at Walmart now 46. I know governments hear it all the time, but for where I live and the price of my property my taxes are very high. 47. Parking on both sides of street in Plum Creek is hazardous, dogs running loose, petty crime, maintenance at senior center is poor. 48. We need a skate park for all the skaters who love to skate and have no place to go. 49. Too many building of houses, water is too high and we're running out of it! 50. To provide variety. I hope Kyle makes smart choices in regards to business. Kyle should not be about fast food and poor food options. I hope Kyle grows into a unique one of a kind city with variety. 51. The water bill is too high. No one can tell us why it is so high. We have made strenuous efforts to conserve water use yet our bill is still high. It's a mystery! 52. Wish we had an RBFCU here in Kyle instead of Buda, San Marcos or New Braunfels. 53. I don't have TV or use Internet only on occasion. Is the city newsletter the one in the utility bill? Where are the "posted notices"? I wish we still had the weekly Kyle newspaper-or at least monthly. 54. During Christmas about 5-6 homes-maybe more-decorations were stolen from our front yards. Cops came-were seen in South Lake neighborhood for 2 days after-not seen since. 55. Speeding on Kohler's and I-35 frontage roads, round about vs traffic light at Kohler's Crossing and 1626 is insane. Traffic lights needed-drivers do not understand the concept of a 4-way stop, take turns, no, I'm in a hurry. 56. Need better paying jobs available; need commute options to Austin; need better retail; really two Dollar Generals! 57. Educate city employees about customer service. Provide police training to emphasize community policing and basic courtesy to citizens. 58. Seniors may have hearing, physical impairments. A little sensitivity would be appreciated. Smile and talk slower and louder. 59. Stop doing so many galas and do more community outreach programs. Stop raising taxes!!! 60. Need overpass into downtown at rail crossing Center Street, street names, signage (ex: FM 130, Bunton Rd, Goforth-all same road) 61. Water bill extra fees are outrageous, actual water usage is minimal. The minimum usage fees, etc. that are tracked on are ridiculous. 62. Traffic enforcement in neighborhoods - HOA's powerless, 20 mph limit in residential areas (with occasional checks w/unmarked cars) 63. Staff is consistently rude-they act like it is an inconvenience to do their job. 64. Keep government small; leave citizens alone to find solutions. 65. Need traffic light at Kohler's Crossing and 1626 66. City employees are rude. 67. Develop new routes to and from Kyle Parkway. 68. Stop giving away the farm! Make Kyle a highly desirable place to live (like requiring developers to provide good infrastructure) and make it a bike-friendly, safe place and the people (and businesses) will come. 69. With the growth Kyle has had it seems pressing that a light would be installed at Kohler's @ 1626. A round about is more expensive and will not work with the volume of traffic, and people usually don't know how a round about works. 70. Repair all the roads! 71. Need more water pressure in Bradford Meadows Subdivision - PLEASE!!!!! 72. I avoid going into town or Marketplace in evening because it takes forever to over bridge. Feels like you've forgotten about taking care of east side. Dreading Walmart traffic on the crappy roads. 73. Flood prevention on 150 where KB is building in a big drainage area-big ditch between Ryland Phases 1 & 2 & 3. 74. Lack of police presence in our area-cars with loud pipes need to stop on RM 150. 75. Police need to spend more time enforcing traffic laws w/in city; not on I35. 76. More interest in senior citizens activities and concerns . We are a large group. 77. Lake Kyle should not need full time employees to be open. It should just be open during daytime hours. No employees needed. 78. Aggressiveness of city police department 79. Lehman Road-closes on either end when it rains hard or consecutive days. 80. Update on road projects online and commercial building permits. 81. Make telephone numbers visible on all notices, bills, emails, letters, newsletters, websites and everything that goes out to citizens. All city council members use their microphones so they can be heard at council meetings- the citizens go to support them and like to hear how they vote on issues and what goes on, show us courtesy by using microphones. 82. I have lived here for six months and any issue I have brought up to the city of Kyle have been handled quickly and the personnel very courteous.

83. The roads on Goforth need to be repaired. I can't believe we have those types of roads in a place like Kyle. 84. The community isn't being developed for walkability. It would be nice to have more walking options to stores and in nature. More natural areas should be protected for walking/biking trails. In addition, growth is contributing to light pollution. Perhaps implement light minimization measures. 85. Roads-Bond passed almost 2 years ago and all we have are signs-nothing has been done. Cars drag on roads unless you drive in the center or almost in ditch!!!! 86. The Bunton/Goforth road is in need of major repair and sidewalks. 87. All city streets and sewer should be improved and brought up to "code". 88. We need more grocery stores. 89. Need to attend to street lights that are out (on Scrutchin between Hartson & Sampson) 90. Need better schools-biggest factor in considering a move. Plan for FM 150 east, not just west of city. 91. My opinion is based on 7 months of living in Kyle. We selected Kyle for the peace and quiet area. So far all is good. 92. Parking on streets in Plum Creek. 93. Roads, roads, roads, water bill too high, trash collection, don't like streaming program, no more trolley follies, no bike trails, no train 94. We need more obgyn's in the city of Kyle. 95. Code enforcement, yard maintenance, ditches not Mowed between houses, overall junk in yards 96. Many areas of dilapidated houses, property unkept, streets in bad shape 97. Taxes and water bill too high. 98. The overall growth is a concern as to which way the city will go in appearance. Too many fast food places, too few hike and bike trails. 99. Road from 150W to shopping center (HEB) 100. We feel as far as taxes we shouldn't have to pay as much as people who have children in the school system. We should pay something but we don’t have children and have to pay for everyone else's children. 101. Non-major street maintenance and sidewalk construction is an urgent matter, also, adding a right turn only lane to FM 150 at Lehman Lane and onto the I35 access road at the seven eleven intersection are a necessity. 102. City needs to act on past surveys/study on infrastructure done 11 years ago by LAN. More sidewalks on south side and stop signs. 103. As development continues through the City of Kyle please take into consideration the impact traffic would have on existing neighborhoods. As traffic increases, I believe it causes a much rapid deterioration of neighborhood streets as well as depreciation in value of our homes. 104. There needs to be a serious look into the operation of school bus services, very unorganized! 105. City staff should be residents of Kyle or very familiar with Kyle, its history, and its residents. 106. The city has been too slow in dealing with road repairs to the point of being negligent. 107. There is no speed limit sign on the new bridge road on Waterleaf Fall subdivision, residents tend to drive fast. Can it be done by putting speed limit sign or speed bump in the near future?? 108. Too many cops giving out basic traffic tickets. 109. Quit putting up fast food restaurants! 110. Lehaman Road is a hazard. Uneven road, blind spots make for dangerous driving conditions for buses and teenage drivers. FIX IT! 111. Fire protection is inadequate. We have multiple mid-rise structures and no ladder truck! Also, number of stations is not keeping up with population density and growth. A simple house fire would occupy all Kyle FD resources. 112. While bringing in businesses, manufacturing is very important-The city should think about the safety and health of the city as a priority. No one wants to live/work in an unsafe city. That is the lure to get people here. 113. City utility department very seldom returns calls, in particular the utility manager, when I had concerns about double billing a few years ago. 114. Crime-Kyle is growing and crime goes with growth. Then new nightclub concerns me-especially when there may be rap involved. 115. My only concern is traffic, especially at red lights by Dairy Queen-it backs up to the gas station. 116. No more car repair places, gas stations, or fast food chicken-enough! 117. Traffic is bad. Roads are improving but not fast enough. Too much fast food turning into Pflugerville. 118. Customer service skills are lacking-not friendly! Pure business and "curt". I felt they only helped me because they had to! 119. I think the railroad crossing in downtown Kyle needs to be addressed. As the city grows, the traffic lines get longer while waiting for the train to pass. 120. Stop signs on Steeplechase. Kids protection. They go 60 to (?) mph 121. Too much signage on I-35. Most have a few business names but that's it. Looks ugly. 122. I would love to see a better looking Center Street. Some of the store fronts need updating for cohesion (looks). Want, want, want metro/train connecting to Austin and San Antonio! 123. Thank you for letting KASZ have use of Historic City Hall. Feel very fortunate for that.

124. You need a neutral option on this survey. Downtown renovation is a joke. Downtown businesses are a joke. Traffic flow is terrible. Too many fast food places, no businesses that will lower the tax rate are being brought into Kyle. 125. EVO is turning into a place to loiter. 126. My only complaint is that I pay a minimum water charge which is usually more than my actual usage, but get charged for both. Same with waste. 127. We need to have large item trash pick up from our homes. Fix low water crossings, specifically the one on Lehman Rd. This should have been fixed before the high school was built. 128. The way the light is timed at 1626 & 35 heading west to east is not right. During afternoon rush hour it sometimes stays red and never cycles. This is a major problem! 129. Please no more donut shops, mattress stores or chicken places! 130. We need a “branding phrase" like "Come grow with us in Kyle". We really don't need more fast food places- would like some healthy alternatives, encourage clean industry. 131. City roads in the outlying areas, potholes, unrepaired roads in the older areas of Kyle 132. Lack of downtown parking 133. Roads are terrible-need to start construction instead of installing pretty signs saying construction will begin-action 1st. 134. No more auto parts stores! Support local business and do more to keep them. 135. More info in newsletter on development of housing, stores, etc. (i.e. Rebel Road-no info has been shared). Recreation programs are always highlighted but don't support or appeal to all residents. Focus on sharing finance, budget, and development issues that all taxpayers should be aware of. a. Coming into city-1st impression is it's UGLY. Clean up flea market, looks like a dump. 2. Keep it affordable to live here. Mostly-Kyle is a pig sty. Ugly homes with junk yard look, graffiti on ugly building. 136. I like our mayor. He works well for people and with our council. Keep him. 137. Kyle is getting too overcrowded. The Walmart shouldn't be where it's located. Too much congestion in that area. 138. Lack of good long term job opportunities in relation to growing population. 139. There's a problem with 4way stop sign at FM 1626 and Kohler's Crossing Rd, it needs a signal light, too many wrecks and people don't know how to use stop sign. 140. Too many housing projects and not enough water. 141. Flooding, outrageous electric bills 142. Police needs more officers 143. Kyle is a failure because 1. noisy bars 2. traffic congestion 3. sewer problems 4. dangerous streets with no sidewalks 5. destructive, damaging zoning. 144. From 35, only two ways in or out, lots of single lane main arteries 145. Lehman road needs repair badly. My car is getting ruined taking kids to school. Goforth Road same. 146. Reduce traffic congestion through downtown Kyle. 147. Too many to write about. 148. Traffic congestion on Center Street. No alternate routes in and out of Kyle. 149. Our roads are either terrible or under construction-I know you're trying! Lots of car thieves, late night theft, vandalism, littering. 150. Love that EVO is here now! 151. The home behind me on Langley had a grease fire and the fire department took 53 minutes to get there. The loss was devastating and the neighborhood questions the trust level of our fire department. 152. Overall, I'm satisfied with trash collection and pick up. However, I really wish we had curbside service for large trash items to dispose of such as water heaters, old Christmas trees and couches, etc. that is part of our service and not pay each time. 153. Please pay Monarch Utilities! 154. looks unkept, ROW's-trash, weeds 155. Water rates way too high-in 10 years my bill has increased 300%!! And the water is not drinkable for children! 156. Automotive businesses allowed to develop in the downtown core is disappointing. City Planning should reconsider zoning policies on Center St. in downtown Kyle. Also, road capacity on E. RM 150 is becoming a major issue. 157. We need sidewalks, it's too dangerous for students walking to and from school, are we waiting for someone to get killed. 158. I would like to see a light on Kohler's Crossing and 1626-The 4way stop is very dangerous! 159. I had been told by city personnel that some bills like the utility bill could go to a staggered payment schedule but none so far. 160. I don't think we should build a recreational facility but I would like to see a fitness center like Gold's, 24 hr, etc., a larger discount store like Costco. More economic development, maybe a sports franchise, more types of entertainment. 161. There appears to be double charges on utility bills: Ex: min fee-water #33.00. If use less than minimum you still pay additional amount: Double fees for wastewater and trash also.

162. Make the City of Kyle phone line more user friendly. 163. I hope we never have a fire or life threatening emergency on Sunflower Circle because we can't drive more than 5 mph on this road-emergency vehicle would take too long to get to us-all on the city's hands if loss occurs. 164. You need to be able to crawl before you walk and walk before you can run, etc. Right? How can Kyle attract or be a destination city when they cannot even keep up with its current population? 165. More upscale dining-not fast food-needed 166. Lack of official response to increase in crime in neighborhoods, especially on east side of Kyle. Doesn't seem to be much of a police presence or plan to address this problem. 167. We need a local public transportation system. 168. Local city roads too many deeps, roads not level Benton Creek Road. 169. The light right at the intersection of 35 and 1626 right by the HE, takes forever to go green. Last time I was stuck at the light for 15 minutes. No joke some of us just ran the red light! Please fix it! 170. Traffic planning is a nightmare. Code enforcement needs more teeth, e.g. auto junk yard on Windy Hill. 171. Need executive level housing; my family may be "forced" to move out of Kyle so we can live in a $300K home on a 1/2 acre lot. 172. Would like seniors 65 and over to have reduced school taxes. 173. Roads are atrocious-pot holes in neighborhood roads have become well traveled. 174. The junk people keep in their front yard, weeds, grass, need to be mowed and notices given out. 175. The fees on our water/trash/sewer bills are way too high! 176. Youth vandalism spikes in the summer, but crime has been increasing steadily as the city grows. We need more police officers now in Kyle. 177. The state of the city is great. Each person does great. 178. County Road 150, Goforth Road, and Lehman Road are in urgent need of repair. I drive those roads daily and am concerned there is going to be an accident. Everyone drives down the middle of the road to avoid "bottoming out" on the sides. 179. Insure ground water resources are sustainable. 180. Please lower the bill. When we first moved here, it was in the 30's. Now, it is raised. Every month feels like I don't make enough money as it is. Please stop building homes. 181. More city cleaning. 182. more business/restaurants in southern Kyle-now only have DQ. 183. Please move towards re-routing FM 150 away from downtown ASAP-Center Street congestion is a big problem. 184. Our roads need attention soon. 185. Non English speaking citizens. There is a large percentage of Spanish-only citizens and it should be reflected in the city staff. 186. Morning, rush hour bottlenecks need to be fixed at the I-35 exists. The east-west light at 2770 and 1626 is green WAY to long! The other directions are WAY too short! 187. We would like to see improvement in staying ahead of city infrastructure needs like road repair, building, sewage treatment and water resources. 188. Clean and safe are the most important requirement. Further growth (other than of JOBS) is unnecessary at this point. 189. Library fines are a bit harsh. My kids have erred and myself as well and they wanted the whole amount on my fee: $15-and they got all materials back. San Marcos much more flexible. 190. If what is stated below is true, we must keep as many tax dollars as possible in our educational system. I and many others would not support cuts to Hays CISD. 191. Drinking water needs to be improved. I have not seen any improvements in the last 20 years. What is going on? What will it take to make it comparable to Austin's drinking water? (512) 262-1052 192. City services and council members are non-responsive. Kyle is too busy trying to be like Austin and spending money on WANTS versus NEEDS. No one returns calls. There is minimal school zone patrolling, and my sidewalk has been cracked for over 8 months but the city has not responded to 4 phone calls or these emails-it was confirmed my calls were logged. 193. More vigilance on the streets and neighborhoods. 194. Beautification and crime prevention most important. There has been a lot of crime lately-break-ins/vandalism that is making me feel unsafe. Worried about litter! Break-ins! Would love more recycle pick up-fewer compost. Too many apartments being built! 195. Encourage residents to keep property well maintained. The "rough" appearance of many homes and yards is not leaving a favorable impression with visitors. 196. City phone voice directives not user friendly takes a long time. a. Hire more police officers and develop specialized programs. 2. Hire more public works employees, 5-6 men with no equipment to bring more businesses to Kyle when we don't have equipment or men is lacking in sensible planning. Citizens want a Kyle well built on roads that, even with the problem with even shifting around dirt, will stand the test of time for a city of this size, still growing-is working! They are backlogged!

197. My answers about me feeling safe in Kyle, and the police presence in my neighborhood conflict with each other. I do feel safe in Kyle, however I cannot recall the last time I have seen a police patrol in my neighborhood. Maybe I'm not seeing them but I do not think this is the case. 198. We need to focus more on roads and police support. The parks are not the most important issue. 199. Let Kyle be a peaceful small town-stop trying to turn it into Austin. The politicians just run over the citizens in pursuit of their own agendas. 200. One thing that really sucks, it's very hard to get someone on the phone. Very dumb phone system. 201. Thanks for the opportunity! (to give feedback) 202. I love that Kyle is growing. I just hope that it’s not growing too fast for the city to appropriately handle in the long run. Very pleased so far. Slightly concerned with increased traffic near I-35 (in front of HEB, sometimes light gets very backed up). I imagine more traffic lights are on order. 203. The congestion of traffic on 150 coming and going. 204. I would really like to see some improvements in downtown Kyle. 205. I’d really like to see Kyle institute tighter water use restrictions. We aren’t out of the drought yet and water is going to be harder to get as we get bigger. 206. The City is making poor choices in the types of businesses and the kinds of housing they are approving. Too much fast food. Too many apartments. 207. No more fast food! We need inside dining! Restaurants! 208. Poor street lighting on Bailey Loop and in Steeplechase in general. Lake Kyle is a good idea, but incomplete and lacking. 209. It seems like road projects get started but never finished. Road projects are not being done where there is the highest need. 210. Homes around city must be asked to clean-up their yard. 211. Traffic light at Lehman and FM150 needs better programming. Auto theft in Waterleaf is concerning. 212. Do NOT let Kyle become like Round Rock which is way too crowded, not taller buildings. 213. I would prefer to see some of the 55% of taxes (property) spent on schools redistributed to the City of Kyle. 214. Companies should not be given tax breaks to do business in Kyle. Corporations should be paying the majority of property taxes, not individual homeowners. 215. Totally “wacked” off crape myrtles at Library. Are they trained? Why was my trash service better and cheaper in Houston than here? 2 x’s week, plus large trash pickup every Saturday. I’ve seen my property taxes increase by $1,000 in past 5 years. Almost afraid to ask for more in Kyle as not sure I can afford it. I’m retired and on a fixed income. Developers packing residents too close together. Streets aren’t wide enough. Causes so many problems. Dogs always running free (lack of real fencing in Plum Creek). PUD is license for developer to pretty much do whatever they want. I am 1 resident that boycotts Bread Basket, Walgreens and Sonic in Plum Creek. I am really worried what Walmart is going to do for local businesses already here (Target, Kohl’s, etc.). Love the feel of square in Lockhart-no shops, small “diners” to eat, etc. Downtown Kyle is too cramped and parking sucks!!!! Need a stop sign by thrift store and road by City Hall. Too difficult for small businesses to start in this town-Is there a checklist so everyone knows what’s expected? I tried to open a Curves in Kyle-rent tooooo high in HEB area-$3,000 a month for 1,000 square feet plus 5% escalation for every year in 5-year contract. Glad we finally got a movie theater even though overall EVO is too noisy. Not sure why there are not street lights on 35 thru Kyle like in San Marcos. Would love a community center like San Marcos-offers workout facilities for cheap (e.g. $50 year for seniors), has activities for ALL ages. Water rates-water is only going to get more expensive- However, penalize abusers rather than everyone-we all have a baseline of usage (showers, wash clothes, dishes, etc.). Raising “water minimum charge” penalizes us all-guess we could go back to baths on Saturday nights only! Voting in Kyle-abysmal!!! Need to move city elections to line up with federal. Not sufficient advertisement about when, where, who, etc. e.g. how many registered voters want to vote for Mayor, etc. Water/Trash-I paid lower rates and enjoyed better services in Houston than here-Kyle is expensive for services- Houston and Galveston also had large trash pickup every Saturday. We get one large pickup a year! Who is doing the negotiating? Household hazardous waste. Tues/Fri noon til 3:30-how many Kyle employees can take advantage of those times when you work full time? How about a weekend opportunity in Kyle- 216. Expansion of roads. Fixing of roads. 217. Enforce cell phone/driving laws. Enforce “stop sign” laws. 218. Worried about run-down buildings, litter on sides of highways. 219. Hays CISD is not competitive enough academically with other area school districts. The city has been very hands-off with Hays CISD, not encouraging greater strides to make the city overall more attractive. We are one of many families moving or considering a move out of Kyle because of the school situation. That is sad. 220. I’d like to see Kyle have a community garden and have your animal control shelter if it isn’t. 221. Barking law is dumb. $200 fine stupid. Animal control let one person complaint others. Waste time. Neighbor complaints on one person only while other around him have dogs but, no complaints. It’s a race thing? BS. Person had animal control person walk to fence line. What do you expect, barking, that’s what dogs do. (SLB dog, five), claim people have different hearing tolerance. Tell people if you have dogs, don’t move to Kyle and take chance of getting $200 tickets for dog barking. Joke!

222. When addressing the police department-regarding missing child-need to do their job; and not take notes and call back. 223. The roundabout at Kohler’s Crossing & 1626. It is too dangerous, too much traffic. People can’t work 4way stop. Put a light up!! Not a roundabout! Put the issue to a vote on a ballot, but word it so the normal individual understands it. The intersection is too busy for roundabout and with new business everyday it is getting worse. There is a light going up where the new Walmart is and I think 1626 and Kohler’s Crossing need it more! 224. After almost 30 years in Austin, I bought a home here. I spent all my discretionary income in Austin because Kyle is bringing Walmart rather than real shopping. I do not shop at Walmart or eat fast food. It seems that is all Kyle has to offer. 225. City of Kyle is fast growing so I am expecting that places within city limits and territories being annexed must be provided with basic utilities (water, storm sewer, wastewater, cable, electricity, police, fire, and EMS) 226. Customer service is sour and lack care. No smiles, not especially helpful. 227. Remove the $2.50 electronic processing fee when making a payment online. 228. Library noisy, leadership loud, kids abuse books/computers, run around, staff does nothing, computers frequently broken, janitor sits reading paper, over staffed. San Marcos great library, less staff and all work, quiet place, Kyle staff talk, little work. 229. We need city supported initiatives to curb vandalism and crime. It seems to be increasing in neighborhoods (at least over the recent 6 months). We pay fees to our HOA for security patrol but it doesn't seem to be helping. 230. To answer the phone at the water department. 231. Need competition for cable, other options than Time Warner 232. There is no sense of urgency when dealing with staff. It is like this in the sleepy little Kyle of yesteryear. 233. Door to door solicitation 234. More lighting in downtown Kyle. Too dark especially with lodges with people drinking and walking around town. 235. Elderly persons who are homebound/very little help with transportation or any information of types of transportation; buses; taxi; carts; more dollars spent on community programs, i.e. elderly health awareness, juvenile prevention, police awareness with mental disabilities. 236. The downtown street is poorly designed unsatisfactory. We don't need the bricks, curbs stick out too, parking should be slanted more. Is the new culberson to be this screwed up? 237. Possibly improve crime reporting, minor offenses to male people. Had to learn thru the TV about thefts in area (2 months afterwards). 238. Curbside brush pick up once a month 239. Would be better if city employees did maintenance rather than homeowners' associations or outsourcing. 240. Fix Lehman Road with bridges that are high enough to not flood, same on Burleson; Building limits that prevent overgrowth; make professional higher paying manufacturing jobs, certified schools and teacher 241. Golf carts are cheap and save energy. I would like to see the new ordinance revised to accommodate people living in Plum Creek be able to drive their cart to doctor offices, fast food shops, hospital and HEB. Bicycles , walkers and joggers can be on Kyle Parkway and 1626 but not golf carts. 242. I would rather express my extreme concern of the four way stop sign at 1626/Kohler's Crossing-very dangerous. I do not want a roundabout either. 243. Zoning department needs to go out in person and talk to people being affected. Spot zoning should be implemented in single family zoning to preserve old Kyle. City lawyer and manager should work close. City should do more to include minority senior citizens, they have a wealth of knowledge.

Completion of Plum Creek nature trail or other natural surface trail of at least 3 mile length in Kyle area, with leashed dogs allowed (I drive to San Marcos or Austin every other day to run 3-4 miles with my dog. 52. Concert and/or playscape area like South Park Meadows or Central Market in Austin offers, ice skating rink 53. Concert venue for big names - Randy Rogers-Cory Morrow 54. Concerts like country feel, but city living 55. Conference rooms for small group meetings, Toastmasters, public speaking club. 56. Fenced in area for small dogs and for large dogs. 60. Dog park, Alamo Drafthouse, more country dance clubs, concert venue 61. Dog park, tennis court and walking trail, movie theatre 62. Double charge for permits. New house water softener passed inspection but have to get permit to connect. Road construction not efficient. Too long to get work done. Money wasted on engineering study to redo existing roads. Should not take 50 hours to put Christmas lights on tree. This is padding the hours. Seems to be little oversight on productivity of many employees i.e. wasted time, fraud in fire department, computer people, maintenance workers. 63. DVD store 64. East side swimming pool-rec center-PAC needs better promotion-never has website updated and can't get accurate info about events held there. 65. Either build another pool or lengthen the hours, community center that offers exercise classes, various youth activities, learning experiences, etc. (similar to the one in San Marcos) 66. Enough bars, would like to see school district and city working on working together like homework help for Jr High students at a neutral place. City needs to clain a high school. 67. EVO was a great addition. Would like to see a nature trail and dog park. 68. Families component of children so families and children's themes of recreational. Similar amenities or facilities. 69. Farmer's Market 70. Fenced in dog park! It needs a lot of room for dogs to run freely, a large body of water, and a wash station. 71. First class subdivision park, recreation facilities (well-maintained!!!) 72. Fitness area/complex 73. Fitness Center, sports venue, performing arts 74. Five Mile Dam Park is a great recreational area but it’s so “run-down”. The city needs to partner with perhaps San Marcos to get it updated-needs picnic tables-covered and trails and a bathroom. It’s almost embarrassing behind such a great soccer field! Can you please help the Five Mile Dam Park? 75. For me none 76. Freestyle tax lowering 77. Get some bus or cab into city. 78. Golf course, driving range for golf course 79. Good rec center, but don't want taxes raised 80. Greater use of performing arts center, concerts, stage shows, etc.., Public swimming pool-scheduled times for adults only/serious swimmers. Enclosed/partially shaded (natural or manmade), dog park. 81. Green belts 82. Happy movie theater is here; need better hours at library; I go to San Marcos Library; engage kids better to keep out of mischief. 83. High end restaurants, Olive Garden, Chile's, Red Lobster, more shopping, as well as family friendly places as Chucky Cheese, Gattitown, more jumpy place or variety of restaurants like Church's 84. Hike/bike trails, road marking for cyclists 85. I would like to see an activity center like they have in San Marcos.

86. I am happy with current amenities. 87. I do not want ANYTHING else that costs more tax money. Taxes are EXORBITANT already. Why the constant wish to spend our money? 88. I don't believe in this area between Austin & San Marcos/San Antonio. A city the size of Kyle should propose big spending on recreation. It amounts to waste and abuse. Keep taxes low and let private sector provide recreation options. 89. I would like to see a push to get the recreational facility built that has been put on a back burner. 90. I would like to see the east side of the intersection at IH35 and 150 to be developed with restaurants. Spread the traffic around town. Too much focus on Kyle Parkway intersection. 91. I’d love to see a Dave ‘n Busters here in Kyle. An office supply store would be great, although that’s not recreational to some people. An Alamo Draft House would be great! 92. I'd like to see a new recreational and aquatic center. 93. I'm happy as is. Would like nice sidewalk on future street improves and extensions. 94. In sharing-more activities for small children and safe alternative for youth-high school. 95. Indoor skate (roller-skate); rockwall, city offered tennis lessons 96. Jazz/blues/rock/some country 97. Jogging, biking trail. There is a big push for fitness. It would make sense to have a safe place to ride your bike or walk. 98. Kyle can benefit from being a pedestrian friendly city, meaning… a citizen can safely walk, bike or run anywhere in the city to access all services. This would pay huge dividend in the high quality businesses we could attract. 99. Kyle is not very senior friendly. Aging population being ignored in lieu of attracting more families. 100. Kyle Vista Rec Center 101. Large scale bowling alley 102. Larger bowling alley so bowling leagues could be formed. 103. Local festivals like Budafest and Weiner Dog Races-Bed N Breakfast accommodations 104. Major music venue, stop allowing builders to build into Lake Kyle Park, more walking paths, more sidewalks along Lehman Road, more night life downtown, repair roads and overpasses along I-35, certified teachers 105. Major sport 106. Maybe live music at the park? 107. Micro brew w/decent pool tables. Food truck competition. St. Patrick's Day or Mardi Gras festivals. 108. Mini golf 109. Mini golf, outside activities-hike/bike trails, splash pad; sports venue for a minor-league team (baseball, soccer) 110. Mini golf, paint ball, music venue, more cafes, Kyle is pretty good. 111. Miniature golf/outlet stores 112. More bicycle trails 113. More concerts and plays and family event, so we don't have to drive to Austin. 114. More dining options 115. More diverse dining options-please, no more Mexican restaurants! Our city is saturated! Healthier dining options, improve shopping options to include more boutiques and small business owned shops. 116. More full service restaurants. Kyle does not need any more fast food places! 117. More gyms or areas for exercise. 118. More hike/bike trails in the city and/or surrounding area. 119. More hiking/biking options (not on main roads since these are dangerous). More natural areas. 120. More lights, more sidewalks, improve and invest original Kyle (old Kyle neighborhoods) 121. More nightlife. 122. More non-Mexican dining options. Live music venues. 123. More options for cable services, etc. 124. More parks and trails 125. More parks, pets free-no pets in parks, less expensive sport leagues for kids and teens. 126. More public green space. 127. More restaurants/dining options. 128. More restaurants. Maybe a pool hall. 129. More sidewalks downtown, antique and specialty stores, independently owned shop, buses around area or link to area-wide rail system, ice cream or coffee shop, bakeries, less bars and chains and more family friendly, yoga studio, some music options 130. More sidewalks on main roads!! 131. More sit down family restaurants-we have too many fast food joints! 132. More sit-down restaurants that serve healthy food options. No more fast food! 133. More stores and food places.

134. More structured things for kids of all ages for learning and entertainment. Suggestion: dance in high school gym at least once a month supervised. 135. More things for younger generation. 136. More youth programs, more parks, bike and walking trail, another swimming pool 137. Movie theater was a great addition. 138. Museum, historical district with building restrictions, colleges, technical and vocational, low income housing with limits of stay. 139. Music entertainment in the park (Summer in the Park music) 140. Music events and not just country music. 141. Music venue 142. Nicer children playgrounds 143. Nightlife bars/clubs and top golf 144. No more needed. Maybe just a hike/bike connecting the facilities. 145. No more-job of private industry to determine. 146. None 147. None 148. none (too many people in this town already) 149. none needed 150. None until streets, sewer and water needs are met. 151. None! We have enough! 152. None. 153. None. Leave Kyle alone. 154. None. Left Austin to escape such things! 155. None. Property tax too high! Thought when you got 78 year old the property tax would be lowered, Ha. 156. None. We have EVO. 157. Not exactly sure-would love to see more amenities in downtown Kyle. 158. Not sure 159. Outdoor concerts, great festivals. 160. Outdoor music, shuffleboard, facility to teach people to train their dogs. 161. Outdoor options-dog park, trails, farmer's market 162. Outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking and fishing (not catch and release). 163. Parks with trails 164. Pool hall 165. Public basketball, tennis, track facility. 166. Public swimming pool 167. Putt putt golf 168. Putt-putt golf 169. Putt-putt, downtown shops, dining 170. Rec center big enough for basketball courts/pickle ball. 171. Rec center with youth sports like San Marcos. 172. Rec Center! Outdoor special event venue. 173. Rec center, park trail system, tennis courts on east side 174. Rec center; walking and biking trail; live music venues not just local bars/drinking establishments; shopping district area like in towns such as Gruene, Fredericksburg, etc. 175. Rec center-YMCA, family dining, boutiques for shopping! 176. Rec facility similar to San Marcos. Commuter train in the Austin-San Antonio corridor. 177. Recreational (for children), walking trails close to neighborhoods, more boutiques or shops down Center Street. 178. Recreational trail system 179. Recreational, track for walking or jogging, more pool activities for those who work. 180. Roller-skating, putt-putt golf. We love EVO! 181. Running trails, indoor swimming pool 182. See question #4. Also question #1-bring back Market Days. 183. Senior center too small for growing retirement community, plan for growth now, recreation center now! Why lose dollars to San Marcos & Buda, must move on this!! 184. Senior Center, Recreation Center 185. Senior center-luncheon program, annual festival similar to Pecan St. in Austin but with small town atmosphere - arts, food and entertainment. 186. Shooting range 187. Shopping centers.

188. Since we already have a library, parks, a lake, and bowling, I am totally satisfied. I am 100% against anything having to do with liquor. It results in more murders and rapes than war. (I've been in a war zone). No water parks-save our water. 189. Skate park for "the lost boys" who are skating at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Re-do the intersection at CVS/4 Way Auto. 190. Skate park is needed critically (a quality one). 191. Skating ring, courts basketball 192. Skating rink, mall, kids spa 193. Soccer fields, Skate Park, a place for karaoke, museum of Kyle. 194. Something for smaller children likes a kid's museum or gym, etc. 195. Something like Weiner Dog Race, support a cause 196. Something to keep young adults and older children busy so that they don’t get bored and begin bad behaviors. Movie theatre and bowling alley were a great idea. An adequate place to learn dance-country, ballroom, tango, etc. (for young adults and older people) and a dance hall. An active and exciting boutique shopping area would be nice (like in Fredericksburg) and would attract visitors. 197. Splash pad, commuter train, shuttles, outdoor live music venues, coffee shops to hang out in, more restaurant options, local art places, hike and bike trails, indoor pool, kid friendly places, book stores (1/2 price books, Barnes & Noble) 198. Splash pad, more movies 199. Splash Park! Toddler programming (sports) currently go to San Marcos. 200. Splash Park, Water Park 201. Stop giving tax breaks to multi billion dollar companies while being in debt with high property taxes! 202. Swimming area 203. Swimming Pools-covered basketball and tennis courts! Summers too hot in full sun! 204. Taco Cabana, awesome Founder's Day Parade and Santa Lighting Xmas Tree 205. The dream recreation center complex previously proposed to the city and relate programming. Large concert/event facility to lure entertainers, events and $$ into the city. Fantastic mini-golf. They know how to do this in other places, but not really Texas. Plus lack of employers in town make for such a long commute that quality of life here sometimes like it doesn’t matter, because we’re not physically here enough to enjoy it. 206. The east side of Kyle needs more attention, parks, etc. A citywide green space and bike trail, trails to schools, etc. Also shoulders, bike lanes, and more signage at intersections around I-35 to guide lane traffic (especially at FM 150 and I-35) 207. Things that will keep people in Kyle longer than a trip to Dunkin Donuts like a shopping mall, a sports association, or a large recreational place like Austin's Park and Pizza. No one around us has things like that. 208. Trails to ride bikes maybe connect to Buda. 209. Transportation options to Austin Regional Clinic, HEB, Walgreen's for elder retired people. 210. Very satisfied with all amenities moving into Kyle. 211. Walking trails 212. Walking trails; leash-free, fenced dog parks; restaurants with vegan or vegetarian fare; Costco, Chuy’s, Kerby Lane Café, Hyde Park Grill, Magnolia Café, Einstein Bagel Shop. Since Kyle is a bit of a sleepy town, why not highlight the quaint? Let the city be small but classy, something akin to Fredericksburg, Texas or Puyallup, Washington. Puyallup is a wonderful small town! They have plenty of fine dining, farmers’ markets, and places to take your dogs. It’s quite progressive-gay friendly, senior-friendly, dog-friendly, it’s healthy and there are many options for active individuals. It is very close in size to Kyle, and people from the surrounding towns come there for its fairs and community events. They have museums and art galleries and the place attracts affluent retirees. Let’s make Kyle that way! It would be like micro-Austin. Don’t smirk; it’s better than being called “bubba-town” and “Austin’s welfare suburb.” It’s one thing for convenience retail and fast food options to be available right off the highway, but that doesn’t mean the whole city wants or needs ONLY fast-food joints and discount retailers. Kyle is currently comprised of quick-service and fast-casual dining, and discount retail. Contrary to popular belief, not every small town has to have a Walmart. We have one in San Marcos and in Buda; Kyle did not need one. There’s a place for a Dollar General in every city and, to be fair, they have a good and successful business model; but Family Dollar and Dollar Tree, in addition? That’s overkill in the discount shopping, eh? With the national obesity problem we also don’t need any more all-you-can eat establishments. (Tip: We have not needed them for a long time.) All these places attract customers, not clients. Customers have no loyalty; they are persuaded by the lowest price, and they tip poorly. Travelers don’t care because they have no loyalty to this place. And, because of the customer base they attract, these places are dirty most of the time. One trip to Dunkin Donuts or Family Dollar will prove that. As well, they offer very low wages to workers (Kyle residents). This equals lower local spending power. More selective travelers, who spend more and tip better, will bypass Kyle with all its fast-food offering and opt for Panera Bread or Chipotle down the highway. If Kyle offered tax breaks for quality resident-owned business-antique shops, retail shops, coffee houses, pubs, book sellers, or even franchises offering healthy

menus-more residents and their spending dollars would stay in Kyle. This means. The city will have more funds to put into parks and infrastructure. When the city aesthetic is improved (with beautiful parks, community gardens, farmers’ markets, art venues and points of architectural interest), it will attract businesses like event venues, hotels, fine dining, limo and taxi service, and higher-end shopping. Who knows, maybe even a winery or two. These places attract clients, not customers. This means higher spending, better tipping, and return business, resulting in higher income for workers. We want more of Kyle residents’ income to remain in Kyle and more of it will, if we provide higher earing opportunity for residents and better choices for spending it. I have been here just over 6 months and still do my shopping in Austin and online. My teenage daughter spends most of her time in Austin with her dad because there is nowhere in Kyle for her to eat, shop or meet with friends-nothing at all. There is no specialty retail, no art venues, nothing that is geared for young adults and no avenues for enrichment. My son, a recent college graduate, works and lives in Austin and would rather live in a tiny apartment in Austin than move in to my huge house in Kyle. Like most college-aged kids, they are vegetarian and boycott establishments like Walmart and Chick-fil-a for political reasons. Basically, there is not culture yet in Kyle and that is what Kyle’s young kids need and want from us. We owe them better than fast-food and Walmart. We owe them healthy choices and better wages. If we don’t do something about it, they will leave this place as soon as they are of age and never come back. But it can be a wonderful place where people from all over central Texas come to plan their weddings, or stay at our B&B’s, or just drive out here for a country ride and stop for a drink and fine dining, or for good coffee and a great bookstore. I am not a fly-by-night customer. I frequent the same retailers time and time again. I am an excellent tipper and do not mind paying more for better service; or paying more at establishments I am loyal to. I complete surveys and give compliments. I want for good businesses to stay good and I do my best to support them. After almost 30 years in progressive Austin, I thought I wouldn’t survive here, but it has some super-sweet people and I have great neighbors. I do not see it as a “backward” town anymore because I see its potential. So what if there are no oak trees; I’ll plant some!! So what if I’m the only one picking up after my dogs; I don’t care. I want to be able to enjoy the things that I do, here, rather than having to enjoy weekend outings in Wimberley or shopping in San Marcos, or going to see live theater in Austin. I want to buy all my wine here. I want to buy my organic food here. I want to meet with my social groups at locally-owned coffee houses. I want to host events at locally-owned bookstore or winery. I want to give my money to Reid’s nursery, not Lowe’s. You get the idea. I would love to stay here after retirement. I want to spend all my income here. I’m just waiting for city administrators to wake up and class it up! I’m so glad that Kyle has this avenue to gather its residents’ opinions. It may not sound like it, but I am, A happy-to-have moved-here, proud Kyle resident. P.S. I didn’t even ask you to lower school taxes for people like me who will never have children in the city’s school system. I am also not asking my HOA to lower my dues because I will never use its touted amenities (I wish I could)…. 213. Walking/running/hiking trails, better swimming pool, fine dining restaurant 214. Walking-running trails, biking trails 215. Walmart w/optical, Sprouts, Jason's Deli, Live music venue/bar like Gruene Hall would attract people here. It's nice and family oriented and great live music. Seshuan Chinese restaurant, Thai restaurant, train station to Austin/San Antonio, bus service to Austin/San Antonio. 216. Water park for kids, entertainment options for kids, (i.e. kids museum) 217. Water park, 5K, 10K, activities for toddlers, gym, Chuck E. Cheese 218. Waterpark, major city park that targets not only small children but teenagers also. 219. Waterpark, more swimming pools, more walking trails, skating rink 220. We are good. 221. We are happy going to the senior citizens on Tuesday for lunch and play 42 dominoes (ha) 222. We have a great need for a real recreation center with expanded programs for all ages. 223. We just got EVO. That helps a lot. 224. We love the Kyle Lake Park on Goforth-but the hours have to be the most ridiculous I've ever seen? Who is able to go to the park between 8-5 M-F?? Not very well thought out. 225. We need a live music venue and art gallery-expand the culture here and liven up our downtown a lot more, etc.-wine bar? 226. We need a recreational and community center-which offers more sports programs along with art, dance, karate programs, etc. 227. We need a skate park for our youth-teens. We have a city park for smaller kids with playground equipment but we need somewhere for our youth-teens to go outside and get sun. We need the teens to stop being inside such as at EVO and get some sun. 228. We need an activity center like San Marcos has. Classes, gym, pool (indoor) 229. We need an activity center with indoor pool like San Marcos-money for this now goes to Buda (YMCA) or San Marcos (Civic Center). 230. We need more walking trails-natural trails. How about an area for remote control airplane flying or cars! 231. We now have movies, how about a nice non-chain restaurant

232. We shop and dine outside Kyle, 1. Restaurants disorganized, unsanitary, bad food 2. HEB too big, disorganized 3. car repair shops are crooks. Why shop Kyle? 233. We should be at our limit! 234. We would like to see a nice bar for adults to go to for a drink with friends and family instead of a basic type bar. 235. Well maintain soccer fields for youth and adults. 236. We've got a bunch. How about fixing the roads or giving kids sidewalks so they don’t have to walk in the mud? Why can't businesses like Walmart help foot the bill of surrounding roads? 237. Whatever you can get 238. When there is a parade, let’s have a real good one. Bands. Where are they? Marching bands. 239. Wine tasting, wine bars, restaurants, boutiques 240. Wondering why we pay for city pool. That's only open 3 months out of the year? And very short operating hours during the summer months?? 241. Would like Kyle to connect the recreational areas by trails as was planned at one time in the recent past. Would like the roads to include bike lanes and sidewalks. 242. Would love more sit down restaurants (over fast food). 243. YMCA 244. YMCA 245. YMCA 246. YMCA in east Kyle. 247. You want people to enjoy Kyle-fix the roads. I know someone who had over $2k damage to her car because of roads.

Appendix F: Destination Ideas

1. "Kyle the Fit City" As in my previous comments about a pedestrian friendly city, Kyle would benefit from changing the focus to fitness and outdoor activity. It is widely known that fitness equates to many dollars in a community. 2. "Kyle", a little bit of Austin, a lot of friendly. 3. "Smile, You're in Kyle", Downtown Farmer's Market a. Art gallery 2. School where all ages can learn all sorts of skills-like painting, pottery, geo-caching, star-gazing, stained glass, bike repair, bird-watching, bee-keeping, cooking, gardening, writing etc. 4. A big splash park would be awesome! 5. A clean town. A great attraction would be having a children's museum in Kyle. Also maybe a music museum or a place for all ages that love music where they can develop their talents. More community services thru churches (religious resources). 6. A great city to live in and for family. Just need more things to do and businesses added. 7. A real Farmer's Market weekly. More activities for children. Shade in parks. In Steeplechase we roast in the summer watching our children. 8. A train stop, a historical parade, community, NO MORE ALCOHOL!!! 9. A unique museum, e.g. Texas Professional and Collegiate Athletics museum or a museum of Texas/Western art. 10. A very well maintained, outdoor gun range with strict safety codes and practices with membership requirements. 11. Add independent senior living options. Not apartment, get single-family homes for seniors. 12. Again, there is NO NEED to spend more money. Taxes are outrageous. With recent property value increases taxes went up to where monthly it is almost as much as the mortgage. We just want a clean, safe place to live that is affordable. SAVE money for when property values go down-you will need it then. Don’t' blow it on foolishness. 13. Amusement park with roller coasters! 14. An Amtrak Stop in Kyle. 15. Annual marathon - name it after something historic only to Kyle. 16. As I pointed out in #12, a quaint shopping district with voluminous antique shops, unique boutiques and local artists would be a wonderful, classy, charming way to attract visitors and to motivate and inspire local residents. Weekly community events in the center of this charming shopping district would encourage continual visitors and a sense of community for locals. 17. Better full service restaurants. Less fast food. More shopping opportunities. More green space. Attract more professional jobs. 18. Bike, trail system connecting the city. We need 2 teachers or an aide in each classroom if we want our schools to succeed. Teachers have too much work, crazy kids, no support. 19. Biking could be a undeveloped possibility for the Kyle surroundings. A 9 hole golf course, city owned could work with all the young families setting in the many subdivisions. 20. Chuy's, food truck park, ,mini golf, putt putt wih Paint ball, real candy store, mini indoor venue music etc, splash park 21. City wide sign up for older people's activities-bocce ball, shuffleboard, pickle ball-bring in entertainers. 22. Consider a minor league baseball team here. 23. Consider all angles of making Kyle a great place to live, e.g. don't promote as "family friendly" and then permit a "truck stop"! They are NOT complimentary! Instead, build a YMCA! 24. Create a big museum of the history of Kyle and include the railroad train. 25. Desperado's is bringing people in that are not from Kyle. Maybe having some concerts at the city park. Need ore outside entertainments. 26. Develop a multi-city hiking/biking tail connecting Kyle, San Marcos, Buda and Austin that could be used for multiple events. 27. Develop downtown comparable to Georgetown, Round Rock, McKinney as examples 28. Dog friendly so we don't have to go to Austin or San Marcos to bring our puppy out for some fun. 29. Every city has "character" not a characteristic-but the character of the people. Knowing the city's history, correcting past injustices and bridging people toward the future needs to be practiced-then the city would be known for this character: a bridge between 2 cities (Austin & SA), or a bridge between people/culture. 30. Farmer's Market, gardening, bookkeeping 31. Festivals but not typical. Sponsor Int'l day to recognize different culture within Kyle. 32. Get rid of the race track 33. Historical downtown shops/mall near or in the park area. Parking garage "going up not out" since no room in area-plenty of area near town-purchase to get rid of rundown spots to look better. 34. How about a "theme" festival for art and craft booths, live music, etc. Perhaps a convention center for large venue/live music-even off-Broadway theater productions. We also need nice hotel/motels. We are perfectly located for Austin over flow and Circuit of America's. 35. Huge water park attraction. I don’t' see anyone wanting to visit Kyle other than a hip new waterpark.

36. I agree we should attract more people, but I came to live in Kyle to escape the chaos in Austin and the traffic. I love it here, it's quiet. 37. I am happy and proud to live here. 38. I do know that Luling is really good at this and you may want to talk with them for ideas. 39. I don't mean this rudely, but I don't think Kyle could offer much for "nation" or even "statewide" visitors-Kyle is not a bed-n-breakfast or a winery sort of town-wedding venues are popular but Kyle has a few of those. I think Kyle should focus on its growth and for the education and well being of its children and families-Keep Kyle Family Oriented 40. I don't think of Kyle as even wanting to be a national destination. Regionally the music festival is great-but wasting time, money, and energy on state and national tourism and image is futile. Focus on our local and regional identity. Use what we have-Kyle is simply charming. 41. I enjoyed the music at last years 4th of July fireworks! It was excellent!! No crazy stuff. Would like cheaper gas. We buy our gas in Austin when we go to church because it's much cheaper there. 42. I feel making Kyle a "destination" city is the wrong approach! You should be focusing on making Kyle the best it can be for current residents. Kyle is a great place to raise a family. Expand on that and make Kyle a place that future generations will want to stay sand raise their families. Many families have relocated to Kyle of its small town charm-we are starting to lose that and in some areas it is already lost. Control the growth and the developers that come in. Don't let them dictate what Kyle will be. It seems as if this whole idea of making Kyle a destination city is too forced and continued. Like we are trying to make Kyle something it is NOT. Put the focus on making Kyle a quality place to live, work, and play for families!! Quality infrastructure-plan for future growth, quality services and programs, recreation & utilities, etc., beautification, make and keep the city clean and updated, paint on towers is faded, signs at entry ways-like downtown are ugly! Have you seen the sign off IH 35 as you enter Buda from south Austin? That is a sign that is great! You want to attract people to Kyle on weekends? Host events and activities, bring Farmer's Market back, promote existing programs more, 4th of July fireworks-the best show around! Also, have a backbone when it comes to developers. Stand up and for the hardworking families of Kyle. When you approve contracts and agreements-look out for the best interest of Kyle and its taxpayers. Not the developer and any short term fixes. School district, how can the city and the school district be on the same page? We want to improve the quality of life in Kyle then that also plays into the schools. ALL the schools-not just schools on the west side. 43. I like living here, but there's not much to do here. A live music venue like Gruene Hall that is family and community oriented. Walmart, etc. see previous page, Train Station. 44. I like the blog and discussion forums online. Another newspaper or more frequent. 45. I think there needs to be transportation services to take citizens to key places in the city-shopping, eating, health care services 46. I think to keep up with what we have already is more than enough. To maintain what we have is important. We can expand in what we have with improvements later on or additions later on. But to add more is too much. I say we have enough. There's enough here to enjoy for all ages. 47. I wish Kyle had a shopping area such as Gruene or Salado. When I first moved here I thought the area around Center Street was like that. Maybe someday. 48. I wish there was a choice of technology companies-IBM, Tracor, AMD or future tech companies like solar panel companies for a variety in the types of employment. So maybe a technology fair or conference that was family friendly would spark an interest in Kyle. 49. I would like to see a rail system put in to go from Dallas to San Antonio. I don't drive and rely on my family to take me everywhere-that is the only thing I see is missing. 50. I would like to see downtown offer more shops, antique, resale, specialty. Turn the square into a place for Farmers Market, festivals, events. 51. I would like to see improvements to the I-35 corridor at and around Center Street so that more people would become interested in looking around downtown-to help those businesses because the one we have are wonderful! 52. I would like to see the square turned into more of an entertainment/dining area. Restaurants with a feel like Salt Lick or Gruene Hall. I think people would come to spend time and money in Kyle with more to do on the square. 53. If I am paying taxes to support ACC then when we vote on an increase of taxes then that increase should go for our area-this is wrong. I think the city should offer incentives to help with less usage of water such as landscaping (rocking) your lawns and incentives for solar power-I believe water is too expensive here it is also very hard-can it be softened? 54. If you want Kyle to continue to grow, stop adding taxing units to our property tax. Example: 9 years ago it was $4,200 now it is $5,400. Water bill $45.00-now minimum of $125.00 55. I'll leave it up to ya'lls ideas. 56. I'm 75 years old-lived in Kyle 2 1/2 years. I love living where I'm at on Spring Branch Loop. Kyle is building up fast. I don't know of anything else just keep up the good work what you're doing now. 57. Improve roads, add sidewalks, landscape, unique restaurants, increase police to prevent crime, lower taxes! 58. Improve traffic flow in downtown Kyle.

59. In downtown Las Vegas they have the Fremont Street Experience. This is a music and light show combo that plays every half hour. People walk up and down Fremont Street and stop when the lights go out and look skyward for this amazing light show. Dazzling attraction. 60. It's not too late to start thinking about ways to get around the city such as taking existing roadways and see how a loop around Kyle could help in case IH35 shuts down. When this happens, whether in Buda or San Marcos, access to a loop would help the citizens. 61. Just make it a good place to live. Don't try to make it something it isn't. Make the town square a wedding mecca. Dripping Springs has so many wedding places now. There is nothing in Kyle to draw people in. The HEB area (all 4 corners) looks like crap. We sure did not need a stinking Walmart, UGH!!! 62. Katherine Porter House-add more amenities or activities-the "Big Oak". Any space to add garden or - ranch style facilities with modern touch. 63. Kyle City is growing very rapidly. Utilities are too high and increasing very rapidly also, especially H2O and electric bills! 64. Kyle could be an attraction by opening a winery, brewery or amusement park. 65. Kyle could become a destination attraction with small, unique restaurants, bars with live and DJ music, but a variety, not just Tejano, and most of all, breweries and wine tasting shops. Maybe streets blocked off for pedestrian walking. 66. Kyle desperately needs better government and elected officials that are intelligent, have some vision, principles, and some experience. 67. Kyle does not have a major league team of any kind-what if we had a field/stadium/arena that would allow for that here? St. Petersburg, FL has hosted the “Tampa Bay Rays” without hosting a Tampa. Kyle can host the Austin Wild/Austin Weird/Austin Wired team of choice HERE. That would bring hotels, and repeat fans. Why should Houston and Dallas have all the fun and financial benefits or Disneyland Texas-and put it in the ETJ-out of myth; into reality, HERE! 68. Kyle needs a major attraction unique to the region to draw visitors. One idea would be an indoor ski resort, similar to the public/private project being undertaken in Grand Prairie, TX. A major investment like this would spur growth and development like no other project. 69. Kyle needs to brand itself. There is really no reason to go to Kyle. Think festivals, Strawberry fest, Pecan fest, Beer fest, anything. Salsafest, Piefest, Spicefest. 70. Lights at Gregg Park should "ALL" be turned on for more safety and more walkers can use. 71. Live music venue, art gallery, dog park, roller-rink, wine bar, coffee shop besides Starbucks, a car dealership would bring traffic in, an hourly daycare. 72. Local bus service for retired persons or local ride system for retired persons. 73. Love the cops-would like them to know the law better. 74. Lower taxes 75. Lower taxes and tell everyone we have the lowest taxes in TX 76. More farmland preserved from future urban sprawl, recognize more citizens on what they have done for the community. 77. More motels are needed. 78. More stocked fishing areas with limited catch and keep! More swimming pools partially covered! Full sun too hot. Indoor public gym and pool like San Marcos Activity Center! 79. Multicultural events, stress and have community safety reminders that we need to take care of our town, drive slow (keep the crazy driving in Austin) Keep Kyle Great! Keep Kyle Cool! 80. Museum of Texas, concert venue 81. Museums, historical sights advertised. Get the chamber of commerce productive. 82. Museums: Art, US History or Children's Museum: An interactive museum where children can learn about today's top technology and advances in a diverse amount of fields such as medicine, science, architecture, cosmology, government, etc. It can also show children the benefits of living in a rural, country city such as Kyle. 83. Music in Center Street park/square. That all housing additions include sidewalks on main street, such as additions on FM150. Forced to walk on uneven, muddy landscape, if any. 84. Need to have department with employee who drive through neighborhoods to get junk out of peoples' yards. This brings ours and others property value down. 85. Need to save some open space!! City of Kyle is going to grow-just hard to grow smart!! 86. No comment. 87. No more auto parts stores! Is this not being monitored? 3 auto parts stores in a city block of each other. What does that say about Kyle? 88. No unique shopping experiences, craftsman, artists, local services highlighted, look at Wimberley's-Historic Art District, Beautiful Wimberley (Boot Project) 89. None. We do not need more people in Kyle. There are not enough roads as it is already. Too much traffic. 90. Our patriotism here in Kyle is strong-we rally for our troops and 1st responders-I don't know how-but we should find a way to market that patriotism.

91. Our rate of growth in population is outstripping our ability to provide proper infrastructure services. Kyle should slow the building of high-density apartments and outlying neighborhood subdivisions until we catch up. 92. Outdoor family fun destination: utilizing go-cart racing at Central Texas Speedway, utilizing Dudley Johnson Park for an outdoor sportsmanship competitions. For Example: bow and arrow challenge, bike racing the Texas Hill Country-5K and kids 5K etc. 93. Park facility like Landa Park in New Braunfels with pool, rides, fishing, trails, picnic areas, restrooms, ample parking, event center, info booth, tennis, baseball, basketball 94. Prisoners used for trash pick up. Recycle pick up 3 weeks a month-compost. Please don’t allow beggars to be on our streets. More police traffic stops on I-35 especially on weekends/holidays. Limit renters. Limit apartment complexes. 95. Public Transportation, train from Dallas and Houston to Corpus Christi, bus services in Kyle to Austin and San Marcos. 96. Quit spending money that you have to borrow. IOW be sure to be always shrinking the debt until it's gone. 97. Really need the bus or rail to Austin. Cut senior citizen tax for school. Nice seafood restaurants. 98. Renaissance Fair 99. Safe, friendly small town feel with all the amenities! 100. Should look different and better than all other I-35 stretches/towns; make Kyle a destination for visitors and more than a bedroom community for workers. 101. Skate park 102. Slow down the growth! Many suspect money is being exchanged between developers and local politicians or city employees to push their projects through. Seems they see an open field they, have to build on it, to bring in more folks! 103. Smile! You're in Kyle! There's no place like Kyle. Kyle-It's the place to be. Kyle-Our Country's Finest! 104. Something like Gruene-a super-cool music venue-small but a place that features big names, such as Willie Nelson, Slash, etc. There is a trend of these big-name stars wanting to play small venues. Also, improve downtown shopping with antique stores, higher end bars and cool unique boutique shops. Kyle is a place to go if you're a hard-working and hard-playing person. We are nurses, paramedics, cops, construction workers...very hard-working who enjoy higher-end entertainment. Everybody wants to move to Kyle because we are so hip and cool. That's the idea and feeling that needs to be developed and expanded upon. Forget about waterparks! They tend to be trashy and lame. 105. Something like Wimberley Market Days. We have lots of small/home businesses that could join in. 106. Take care of basic maintenance. Stop frivolous spending. Respond to bona-fide citizen requests! Lower property taxes since retail has taken over! 107. Texas original art hub-music, visual art, fashion & jewelry, bring local talent here from Austin and San Marcos 108. Thank you. 109. The best thing you could do would be to develop the downtown square on all four sides rather than the current two. 110. The massive growth is a concern! Do we have the resources (water, electricity, etc.) to take care of it? Thanks for sending out this survey. Hope response is good! 111. The new road on 150 had a pothole in 1st week then another in week 2 2nd. Now crumbling apart. Library needs children’s section glassed off. Kids allowed to run all over, screaming, lots of new staff just sitting around with books not available on shelves. Conference room needs to be restored. Too much space given to offices. Need rules for political signs. They were up long after the election. Need same utility rates for everyone. Waste water and garbage fees much too high, water base grossly too high. Look at Buda rates. 112. The stop light at Burleson Drive and 150 seems as though its only purpose is to stop traffic on 150. The traffic on 150 is much denser, so why do the lights not reflect the difference? 113. The town meeting area at my working hours. Is there a way to go online, live or in the weekends? Pre meeting way to express questions, concerns, ideas. 114. The turnaround lane at Kyle Parkway going from 35 south to 35 north runs into traffic. Lanes should be changed. The street north of the hospital runs into Dacy Lane and to the right is a hill that blocks view. 115. Theme-park/water park 116. This is not needed. Kyle is a bedroom town and should be governed for only the convenience of the people who live here. We don't need tourists, I saw some laugh at the new downtown street, it's so bad. No left turn into new auto parts. No left turn on 150 from Walgreens. Go thru Whataburger to Wells Fargo, diver between City Hall and Depot, all dumb. What do you expect, the city council is owned by road contractors. 117. Tough question. Theme park? No, too many proximate. Build more hotels and advertise "See Austin/San Antonio but stay where you're reminded of home!" How about a motorcross course? Hosting a motorcycle rally-become Sturgis "south". 118. Traffic is horrible on 150 coming and going between 6:30 am – 8:30 am and 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Need to think about increasing another lane and making it 4 lanes. 119. Turn downtown into more of a shopping area with activities for kids and families. 120. Until now I see Kyle is going somewhere with the opening of businesses and I would like to see more of that.

121. Venue for development or minor-league sports team (like baseball or soccer). This would draw visitors frequently and promote a sense of community camaraderie backing our vey own local team! 122. Water attractions, either fishing or kayaking, maybe more outdoor activities. A community garden (organic- natural) would be great! I’ll help. 123. We can be more - Let's widen scope and bring the community together with new venues and activities. Love that we now have a theater & bowling alley. 124. We desperately need a new high school and at least teach Latin at that level and emphasize stem! 125. We need a second high school on the west side of the highway. We need to bring in business and industry. We need neighborhoods that are not low-income. Crime in neighborhoods and vandalism is high. I would never have bought here 11 years ago had I known how we would develop into the fast food capital of the world. Our students now get bussed from west to east. Property values down. 126. We need better traffic control at Kohler's Crossing, on Center Street and getting to the west side of the freeway from the south at Yarrington Road! 127. We need to increase our police force funding and total number of police officers. There are far too few for the amount of people living here and especially as Kyle continues to grow. 128. We need to put more effort into developing an atmosphere that encourages venues to display original artwork in Kyle. We have several very talented artists in the community. Perhaps something like the art in public places they have in Longmont, Colorado where I came from. 129. Weekly public lecture, forums, debates on topics of interest. Not committee planning but contemporary world, local issues. 130. What little is left of country scene is slowly disappearing-maybe save some beautiful nature areas for photo opportunities for families. Scenery only found in Kyle. 131. When 1626 is completed in its improvements and there is a highway to MOPAC and South 1, Kyle will be more connected and that area by the Hays PAC can be utilized more fully, including a county fair grounds. 132. Where is the east-side park that was proposed? 133. While a "unique" feature may sound interesting, I believe the residents of Kyle would benefit most by having higher paying jobs within the city as well as having higher end housing options. I am moving to a nearby city and building a home there. I did not feel that Kyle offered a safe place to park the kind of money we're planning to spend on our home. 134. Who let contractors build so many houses and no way to get out. 135. Why? You want to make Kyle into Austin?? Expansion is not always a good thing, bring in more outsiders/visitors and destroy what we have today. Example:Look at traffic today. The more you bring in, the more government spending required. Of course, if you are only interest in more money it doesn't matter. 136. Wish we had more festivals. Austin has a Kite Festival. What can we do that is Kyle? Pecan Festival? Local Arts Festival? 137. Within neighborhoods in conjunction with schools or otherwise create a safe house in subdivisions for a lost or frightened child would know he'd find safety. With joining other organizations, develop coats for Kyle kids. 138. Would be nice if homeowners were allowed to have chicken (hens) even if they live closer than 50 feet apart, as long as they are cooped.
