A Republican ObamaCare Alternative ! One of the big criticisms critics of ObamaCare have expressed is aimed at Republicans and not Democrats. And the pointed fingers contend the Republicans need to stop repealing the in the House and come up with an !alternative. One is in the works and was supposed to be announced this month in rollouts at town hall meetings during the upcoming two-week break. The idea is to get public feedback on the plan before a formal !introduction. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers Now Republicans — led by House Majority Whip Rep. Kevin McCarthy and Conference Chairman Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington State — say it’s on indefinite hold and the rollout will be later this year — probably !during the August recess. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said the delay is reasonable. “Our committee chairmen are working on the issues in terms of the kind of reform that we want; our whip as well as our conference chair are also working with members to make sure that we !can coalesce around a real health-care reform.” McMorris Rodgers — who is the fourth-ranking House Republican — said some details can be released. The plan will include an expansion of health-savings accounts and will !allow consumers to purchase insurance across state lines. !She offered few other details. The delay is not popular with some Republicans. Georgia Republican Rep. Tom Price said, “We need to have a positive alternative. If you’re not providing a contrast, then the !American people are justified in saying: What’s your plan?” Tea Party Rep. — who is registered as a Louisiana Republican — isn’t happy either. “We want a bill brought to the floor. You’ve got to look at the legislative calendar and realize that by the August recess, there aren’t many more days left. So !whatever would have to happen, would need to happen before then.”
