In New South Wales, farmers are currently experiencing exhausting and mentally tormenting drought conditions. The lack of rainfall is taking a toll on families and it is important that we rise up to the task of raising money to assist these fellow Australians in need. ABC news puts the stress in to perspective: “This week a young truck driver was admitted to hospital suffering from exhaustion, having driven tens of thousands of kilometres in four weeks carrying hay between South Australia and New South Wales to help farmers feed their starving stock.” Source: Drought takes an emotional and physical toll across New South Wales by Caitlin Furlong and Jennifer Ingall (10th August 2018).
Please take the time to review the items being auctioned off to help the farmers of New South Wales in such tormenting times where the big dry is at levels some fellow Australians have never seen before. Not only this, we need to ensure that livestock is able to survive and not suffer. We do not have a crystal ball to determine when the rain may fall, so let us come together and make a difference. All funds raised will go to purchasing hay for the farmers and their livestock.

4. South Hurstville RSL, Hurstville RSL, it’s staff and CEO reserve the right to withdraw any lot at any time or to combine lots before actual sale. Silent auction items will also be available as well as a raffle.
5. Unless otherwise announced by the auctioneer at the time of sale, all bids are per lot as numbered in the printed catalogue.
22 6. For certain live auction items, there may be a confidential reserve price below which the auctioneer will not accept a bid and will retain the lot on behalf of the Contributor, Provider, Retailer or Club.
7. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. South Hurstville RSL, Hurstville RSL reserve the right to refuse a bid from any bidder. In the event of any dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to reoffer and resell the article in dispute. Should there be any dispute after the sale, the record of final sale shall be conclusive.
8. On the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer, the highest bidder shall be deemed to have purchased the offered lot subject to all the conditions set forth herein, and thereupon:
(a) assumes the risk and responsibility;
(b) will show their bidder number and sign a confirmation of purchase with a team member walking around to each successful bidder; and
(c) will pay the full purchase price and supply his/her name and address. If the buyer fails to comply with any such requirement, the lot may, at the auctioneer’s discretion, be put up and sold again.
9. All items purchased must be collected from premises by the purchaser on 26th August 2018 during the auction and at the conclusion.
10. Payment may be made with MasterCard, VISA, Cash or Cheque made payable to South Hurstville RSL. No additional fees apply, the purchase price is you net investment per lot won at auction on the day.
11. Bid numbers must be presented to obtain an auction item.
12. All funds raised will be converted in to a cheque amount to which will be donated in order to purchase hay for those farmers and livestock in need. If you would like to be

G’day Mr Turnbull, I trust that you are fine, Sorry to be bothering you, but there’s something on my mind I listened to a bloke last week; he had a bit to say You lot may have heard of him? He delivers all that hay? He spoke of countless hours and the distances they drive Feeding starving stock, to keep bush hopes alive They do not get assistance from your tax funded hat They do it on their own, all off their own bat I’m not politically minded and I don’t have any clout And I know you’ve done a tour, to learn about the drought But there’s just some burning questions, that have left us feeling beat Why did we fund a foreign land, to learn to cut up meat? And what about those soccer boys, who went and got all lost You pulled out all the bloody stops, plain just showing off You’ve bigger problems here at home, there’s drought up to our necks So what does your mob go and do? Give them big fat cheques! Don’t they have a government to deal with all this stuff? Why should it be up to us, what’s with all your fuss? Should we not be reigning in and look after our own Have you never heard the phrase “charity starts at home”? I realise there’s many things, that need an allocation And I also can appreciate, complex trade relations I’m not sure if you realise, but if our stock all die, There won’t be any trade you see, your deals will all run dry As a rule we’re not a whinging lot, our requests are but a few Most of us who work the land, are tested, tried and true We respect that we are guardians, and sustain it for the kids But I often have to wonder, what future will it bring?
