  • Volume 3C Chapter 11 Landscape
North-South 400 kV Interconnection Development Environmental Impact Statement Volume 3C 11 LANDSCAPE 11.1 INTRODUCTION 1 This chapter describes and analyses the existing landscape character along the route of the proposed development in the Cavan Monaghan Study Area (CMSA) and provides an evaluation of the potential for landscape and visual impacts arising from the proposed development in that study area. 2 Accordingly, this chapter of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) identifies and describes the residual landscape impacts which are predicted to occur in the CMSA. 3 A description of the proposed development is set out in Chapter 6, Volume 3B of the EIS. That chapter describes the full nature and extent of the proposed development, including elements of the overhead line (OHL) design and the towers. In addition Chapter 6, Volume 3B of the EIS provides a factual description, on a section by section basis, of the entire line route. The proposed alignment is described in that chapter using townlands and tower numbers as a guideline. The principal construction works proposed as part of the development are set out in Chapter 7, Volume 3B of the EIS. 4 The alignment of the proposed development has been carefully considered so as to avoid and minimise, without being able to remove all, visual and landscape effects. Those effects that remain are the residual unavoidable effects that will occur if planning approval is granted in respect of the proposed development. Accordingly, this chapter does not purport to establish that there are no adverse effects on the appearance or character of the landscape along the alignment of the proposed electricity transmission development in the CMSA.

  • Draft Agricultural Appeals (Amendment) Bill 2020
To Whom it May Concern The Laois-Offaly Branch of the Irish Wildlife Trust wishes to state its opposition to the proposed amendments to the Draft Agricultural Bill. We ask for the Minister to abandon the current draft bill as any move to limit the public's say in matters effecting communities, flooding and the wider environment is wholly unacceptable! Urgent reform is required within the Irish forestry sector and making it easier to rush through bad forestry schemes is not in the interest of Irish people. Yours sincerely To Whom it Concerns, As Nursery Manager for None So Hardy Nurseries I wish to state my full support for the proposed amendment to the Agriculture Appeals Act, to Align the Forestry licencing and appeals processes with similar planning processes. I have been involved in the nursery business for 30 years and I can safely say I have never seen as big a threat not only to our business but to the entire industry. It is clear to all concerned that the current licencing system is unfit for purpose, it is also clear that the current Forest Appeals Committee is not fit for purpose. Currently None So Hardy employ up to 85 people and we supply up to 90% of the planting stock for the Afforestation programme. We currently have sufficient stock for the 20/21 planting season, the 21/22 planting season and the 22/23 planting season, If the current stalemate is allowed to continue we will be forced to destroy millions of trees and close our business. Without our nursery there is no plant supply for the proposed afforestation programme of 8,000 Ha/ annum, there is no plant supply for our Native woodlands Scheme and we will completely fail in our Carbon Sequestration commitments.

Introduction. Overview of Collection. The Graves Collection is an amalgamation of three separate, but related, correspondence collections of three prominent Irish antiquarians; John O’Donovan, Rev. James Graves and Rev. Charles Graves. The provenance of each of these separate collections, or series, is unfortunately open to conjecture. They appear to have been merged together in the past under the inaccurate title of ‘The Graves Correspondence’. As part of this cataloguing process the collection has been renamed ‘The Graves Collection’. The documents have been renumbered and arranged in such a way as to reflect the three
