Pope Francis on abortion and the right to life: “It is necessary to reaffirm our solid opposition to any direct offense against life, especially when innocent and defenseless, and the unborn child in its mother’s womb is the quintessence of innocence”. Celebration of Pentecost in the St Patrick and Felim Cathedral on Sunday 20th May. 3pm: Praise and worship; 4pm Holy Mass with individual blessing. Tea and refreshments afterwards. All welcome! Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock: led by Most Rev. Leo O’Reilly, Bishop of Kilmore, Sunday 17th June. Ceremonies begin at 2.30pm. “The Eighth Amendment has preserved and fostered a culture of life that we can be proud of. The resources of modern medicine have been used very successfully to care for the lives of women and unborn children. We know that thousands of childrens’ lives have been saved in Ireland by the Eighth Amendment over the past 30 years. The older I get the more I appreciate the most precious gift of all, the lift of life, and the more I realise it is a gift. I didn't give it to myself. I received it from my parents and ultimately from God.” Excerpt from the Pastoral Message of Bishop Leo O'Reilly of Kilmore World Meeting of Families in Dublin The World Meeting is a 5 day event from Wednesday 22nd August to Sunday 26th August.
