COLLECTORS FOR NOVEMBER: Bob Leonard, Declan Shannon, Thomas Doonan GENERAL PARISH NOTICES Wednesday next is the Feast of All Saints (a holy day of obligation) and Thursday next is the Feast of All Souls – Masses as outlined above. November Indulgences – From 12noon on 1st November to 12 midnight on 2nd November, all who have gone to Confession, received Holy Communion, and prayed for the Pope’s Intentions (one Our Father, one Hail Mary, or any other prayer) can gain a Plenary Indulgence for the Holy Souls by visiting a church and there reciting one Our Father and the Apostles’ Creed. From 1st November to 8th November inclusive, those who visit a cemetery or graveyard and pray for the dead, may also gain a Plenary Indulgence for the Holy Souls. November Altar Lists of the Dead are available at the back of each church. Please put your list in the envelope provided in your box of envelopes and return as soon as possible. 12 Masses are celebrated in the Month of November for all included in your lists. Confessions for the month of the Holy Souls will take place after the Masses this weekend. Fr Phair will attend the SICK AND HOUSEBOUND in the Bawnboy area on Thursday between 12noon and 1.30pm and the Kilnavart area on Friday morning and the Corlough area on Friday afternoon. New parish website: A new parish website has just been launched and can be accessed at www.corloughtempleport.com. The weekly newsletters will be uploaded to the site to keep everyone, no matter where in the world they are, up to date with what 's happening in the parish. The site has many other features including 'News & Events', 'History' of our parish, 'Mass & Confessions Times', 'Parish Committees', etc. We hope you find the website useful and informative. St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society – Corlough-Templeport Branch. The annual subscription of €10 is now due. Please place your subscription in the envelope attached to next week’s newsletter. Write your name on the envelope and place in the collection basket at mass next Sunday week. Last year Corlough-Templeport branch sent around €900 to the Society's headquarters in Dublin for the education of young priests. Your support is very much appreciated. History of the Diocese of Kilmore c1100-1800. The History of the Diocese of Kilmore c1100-1800 was launched last Thursday by Cardinal Sean Brady. The author is Fr Liam Kelly.     Mainly Ulster families – “B” series – Smythe-Wood Newspaper Index Irish Genealogical Research Society Dr P Smythe-Wood’s Irish Newspaper Index Selected families, mainly from Ulster ‘SERIES B’ The late Dr Patrick Smythe-Wood presented a large collection of card indexes to the IGRS Library, reflecting his various interests, - the Irish in Canada, Ulster families, various professions etc. These include abstracts from various Irish Newspapers, including the Belfast Newsletter, which are printed below. Abstracts are included for all papers up to 1864, but excluding any entries in the Belfast Newsletter prior to 1801, as they are fully available online. Dr Smythe-Wood often found entries in several newspapers for the one event, & these will be shown as one entry below. Entries dealing with RIC Officers, Customs & Excise Officers, Coastguards, Prison Officers, & Irish families in Canada will be dealt with in separate files. In most cases, Dr Smythe-Wood has recorded the exact entry, but in some, marked thus *, the entries were adjusted into a database, so should be treated with more caution.
