Anahtar Kelimeler: Kilikya, Soli Pompeiopolis, Kıbrıs, Kıbrıs Sigillataları, Doğu Sigillata D. Fishes were caught with pulsed DC electro-fishing equipment from 28 sampling sites throughout Turkish Mediterranean Sea drainages between Göksu River and stream Boğa. The findings of the study demonstrate that Capoeta antalyensis inhabits in Köprüçay and Aksu rivers, and streams Boğa and Gündoğdu, all around Antalya. Capoeta caelestis widely distributed in coastal stream and rivers between Stream Dim (Alanya) in the west and Göksu River (Silifke) in the east. Metric and meristic characters were collected from the fish samples which obtained in the field for Capoeta caelestis and Capoeta antalyensis, and museum material for Capoeta damascina. In this way, morphologic features of the species revealed and Capoeta caelestis compared with Capoeta damascina to remove the hesitations about the validity of the species. The conservation status of Capoeta antalyensis was recommended to uplist from Vulnerable to Endangered. Keywords: Freshwater Fish Species; Anatolia; Pisces; Capoeta antalyensis; C.

This study is mainly based on the Large flowing waters are defined as rivers or as streams. By definition “A dissertation of Şimşek (2011). river is a natural, flowing stream of water that provides an avenue for drainage of water from higher elevations to a standing body of water at lower elevations, which is typically a lake or ocean.” (Lerner and Lerner, 2009). Stream, on the other hand, is a general term for a body of flowing water, a natural water course containing water at least part of the year (Kemp, 2009, 714). Stream involves a body of water flowing in a channel or watercourse, whether it is as small as a brook or as large as a river (Stream, 2011). The word stream has many different meanings as well, and has a larger context involving several types of flowing waters. Another concept that may be used in place of rivers or streams is waterway. A waterway is defined “as a body of water that is navigable by boat” (Lerner and Lerner, 2009, 714). A “waterway can be a river, but this concept also includes lakes, oceans, and human-made canals” (Lerner and Lerner, 2009, 714).

Acta Aquatica Turcica, 16(4), 545-557. https://doi.org/10.22392/actaquatr.742217 Abstract The introduction of invasive fish species is considered to be one of the major causes of species endangerment in aquatic ecosystems. More than 30 non-native freshwater fish species which are introduced for the different purpose were reported in Turkey. In addition to the freshwater non-native fish species, the brackish water systems are also affected by the fish species that enter the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal. This study aimed to identify non-native fish species introduced in the Mediterranean brackish water systems of Turkey. Thirteen non-native species from eleven families were identified from 15 localities along the entire Mediterranean Coast of Turkey between 2014-2017. Abstract In the present study, conducted between 2001 and 2003, four taxa of aquatic gastropoda were identified from the Balıkdamı Wetland. All the species determined are new records for the study area, while one species Theodoxus gloeri sp. nov. is new to science. Neritidae is a representative family of an ancient group Archaeogastropoda, among Gastropoda. Theodoxus is a freshwater genus in the Neritidae, known for a dextral, rapidly grown shell ended with a large last whorl and a lunate calcareous operculum. Distribution of this genus includes Europe, also extending from North Africa to South Iran. In Turkey, 14 modern and fossil species and subspecies were mentioned so far. In this study, we aimed to uncover the gastropoda fauna of an important Wetland and describe a subterranean Theodoxus species, new to science. Key words: Gastropoda, Theodoxus gloeri sp. nov., Sakarya River, Balıkdamı Wetland Turkey.

  • Spatial Drought Characterization for Seyhan River Basin in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey
Article Spatial Drought Characterization for Seyhan River Basin in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey Yonca Cavus* and Hafzullah Aksoy Department of Civil Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, Maslak, 34469 Istanbul, Turkey; [email protected] * Correspondence:orrespondence: [email protected] Received: 22 May 2019; Accepted: 24 June 2019; Published: 27 June 2019 Abstract Drought is a natural phenomenon that has great impacts on the economy, society and environment. Therefore, the determination, monitoring and characterization of droughts are of great significance in water resources planning and management. The purpose of this study is to investigate the spatial drought characterizations of Seyhan River basin in the Eastern Mediterranean region of Turkey. The standardized precipitation index (SPI) was calculated from monthly precipitation data at 12-month time scale for 19 meteorological stations scattered over the river basin. Drought with the largest severity in each year is defined as the critical drought of the year. Frequency analysis was applied on the critical drought to determine the best-fit probability distribution function by utilizing the total probability theorem. The sole frequency analysis is insufficient in drought studies unless it is numerically related to other factors such as the severity, duration and intensity. Also, SPI is a technical tool and thus difficult to understand at first glance by end-users and decision-makers. Precipitation deficit defined as the difference between precipitation threshold at SPI = 0 and critical precipitation is therefore more preferable due to its usefulness and for being physically more meaningful to the users. Precipitation deficit is calculated and mapped for 1-, 3-, 6- and 12-month drought durations and 2-, 5-, 10-, 25-, 50- and 100-year return periods at 12-month time scale from the frequency analysis of the critical drought severity.

  • The Route of Paul's First Journey to Pisidian Antioch
New Test. Stud. , pp. –. Printed in the United Kingdom © Cambridge University Press doi:10.1017/S002868850999004X The Route of Paul’s First Journey to Pisidian Antioch MARK WILSON University of South Africa, Pretoria, South Africa email: [email protected] The route of Paul’s first journey between Perga and Pisidian Antioch is still dis- puted. This article examines the three alternatives proposed by scholars. It explores the geographical and historical evidence for each route, looking especially at the extensive road system that existed in Pamphylia, Pisidia, and south Galatia in the first century. Bible atlases routinely depict one route and the reasons for this choice are discussed. Based on a review of the evidence, a fresh hypothesis for the route of the first journey is suggested. Keywords: Paul’s first journey, Perga, Pisidian Antioch, Via Sebaste, Roman roads, Acts .; . Introduction The routes that the apostle Paul took on his journeys across Asia Minor still remain in dispute. A case in point is the route of Paul’s first journey from Perga (Πέργη) to Pisidian Antioch. Scholars have suggested three possible routes with variations for this journey. Two of these routes are routinely depicted in Bible atlases, often with little awareness of the ancient road network or the topo- graphy of the area. On a popular level, the recent opening of the St Paul Trail in southern Turkey has also stirred up interest in the route of Paul’s first journey. Although the St Paul Trail does not follow the ancient routes exactly, Kate Clow’s experience in preparing the new path has provided fresh insights into the region’s history and topography.
