134TH COMMENCEMENT James E
134 th Commencement MAY 2021 Welcome Dear Temple graduates, Congratulations! Today is a day of celebration for you and all those who have supported you in your Temple journey. I couldn’t be more proud of the diverse and driven students who are graduating this spring. Congratulations to all of you, to your families and to our dedicated faculty and academic advisors who had the pleasure of educating and championing you. If Temple’s founder Russell Conwell were alive to see your collective achievements today, he’d be thrilled and amazed. In 1884, he planted the seeds that have grown and matured into one of this nation’s great urban research universities. Now it’s your turn to put your own ideas and dreams in motion. Even if you experience hardships or disappointments, remember the motto Conwell left us: Perseverantia Vincit, Perseverance Conquers. We have faith that you will succeed. Thank you so much for calling Temple your academic home. While I trust you’ll go far, remember that you will always be part of the Cherry and White. Plan to come back home often. Abstract Book
Plenary Abstracts PL01 Date: Friday 22 April 2016 Session: Advances Towards Prevention, Treatment and Cure LATEST DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT 2016 Serge Gauthier1 1McGill Center for Studies in Aging, AD Research Unit, H4H 1R3, Montreal, 6825 LaSalle Boulevard, CANADA Abstract: There are ongoing efforts at harmonizing research diagnostic criteria for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) throughout its stages (asymptomatic at risk, MCI, dementia). This will facilitate research on prevention using non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic strategies. There is a concerted effort from governments, regulators, the pharmaceutical industry and investigators to accelerate the pace of therapeutic research through all these stages of AD. Recruiting for therapeutic research will be facilitated by the involvement of persons at risk and patients through “trial ready cohorts”. The increasing use of biomarkers measuring the amount of amyloid and tau pathology in the brain may help to choose the right treatment for the right person at the right stage of disease. In the near future combinations of treatments will be tried, and we need to learn from the fields of infectious disease and cancer about trial design, practice guidelines and costs sharing. National plans will help implement current and future diagnostic and treatment strategies world-wide. The Proceedings of the World Neurosurgery Webinar Conference 2020 Editor G Narenthiran FRCS(SN) Neurosurgery Research Listserv The Proceedings of the World Neurosurgery Webinar Conference Abstract 1 [Poster] Xanthogranuloma in the suprasellar region: a case report Mechergui H, Kermani N, Jemel N, Slimen A, Abdelrahmen K, Kallel J Neurosurgical department, National Institute of Neurology of Tunis Contact: [email protected]; Tunisia Conict of interests: none Objective: Xanthogranuloma, also known as cholesterol granuloma, is extremely rare. It represents approximately 1.9% of tumours in the sellar and parasellar region with 83 cases recognised in the literature. The preoperative diagnosis is dicult due to the lack of clinical and radiological specicities. Through this work, we report the third case of xanthogranuloma in the sellar region described in Tunisia. The Proceedings of the World Neurosurgery Webinar Conference Page 1 The Proceedings of the World Neurosurgery Webinar Conference Method: We report the case of 29-year-old girl who was followed up since 2012 for delayed puberty. The patient presented with a 1-year history of decreased visual acuity on the right side. On ophthalmological examination her visual acuity was rated 1/10 with right optic atrophy. Biochemical studies revealed ante-pituitary insuciency. The MRI demonstrated a sellar and suprasellar lesion with solid and cystic components associated with calcication evoking in the rst instance a craniopharyngioma. She underwent a total resection of the tumour by a pterional approach. Result: The anatomopathological examination concluded the lesion to be an intrasellar Xanthogranuloma. Conclusion: Sellar xanthogranuloma is a rare entity that is dicult to diagnose preoperatively due to its similarities with other cystic lesions of the sellar region, especially craniopharyngioma. -

Alicia Warrington Arrington a Licia Licia the BLACK PAGE 3Rd Anniversary Edition: Dedicated to James Forbes Chapin
AUGUST 2009 Alicia arrington WThe Many Sides of Alicia Warrington THE BLACK PAGE THE BLACK PAGE 3rd Anniversary Edition: Dedicated to James Forbes Chapin Forward by Dom Famularo first met Jim in 1969 here on Long Island. He was friends Iwith my teacher Al Miller, and we would go to see Buddy Rich perform backstage. Jim would tell me what Buddy was doing and an- alyze it to the slightest movement. My visit with the “Chapin Magic” started. Jim was always so sharing with his hard-earned knowledge. He simply taught the best drummers in the 20th century and was work- ing on the 21st century. His books, CDs and DVD is a university of information; owning them all is a must! I have learned from him, taught with him, performed with him and even played for him while he sang. He loved life and music equally. I am a better person for having experienced the “Chapin Mag- ic!” He was called the Father of Drumming Independence. How ironic of him to pass away on July 4th, America’s Independence. Jim will live long in his contributions ... I ask the future generations of drummers to continue in seeking out the wealth of sharing that Jim gave us. Now on the 4th of July, look up at the fireworks and cel- ebrate the magic of Jim Chapin!
