REGULATIONS ENTRIE S 1. Entries and payments must be received online (www.fostershow.com), via email or by post to PO Box 150, Foster, 3960. Please refer to each section for specific email address, entry cut off dates and fees. 2. Entries are accepted subject to the rules, regulations & by laws of the Foster and District Agricultural Society Inc. & V.A.S. Ltd. 3. On submission of an entry you’re are accepting that your photo/s and video/s may be displayed on the Foster & District A&P Society’s website and social media. Some photos of entries will be published in local newspapers. 3. Entrant agrees to abide by all decisions made by the Society, the Group with which it is affiliated or V.A.S. Ltd pursuant to these rules & regulations. 4. In the case of dispute as to the prize list, the same shall be determined by the committee of the Society, whose decision is final. 5. The Society does not hold itself responsible for anything occasioned by printer’s errors in this schedule. 6. The committee may sanction any person, exhibitor, trade site, organization, or other body whose conduct in the opinion of the committee is discreditable or injurious to the interests of the Society or who fails to comply with any rules governing any Show or exhibition or disregards or fails to observe any direction or decision of any official or judge appointed by the Society. The procedures to be followed when disciplinary action is taken are those laid down under V.A.S. Ltd constitution (Disqualification, Suspension and Appeals). 7. Awarding of all prizes is at the discretion of the Judges. The judge’s decision is final. 8. T he Society will not be held responsible for exhibits, but every care will be taken when handling exhibits (non-photo entry classes) 9. Winners for all sections will be announced from the 27 th Feb ruary 2021 via the Show’s website and social media and published in The Mirror Newspaper.

PUBLIC LIABILITY The Foster and District Agricultural Society Inc. are committed to providing safe, healthy and environmentally acceptable showgrounds for all stakeholders. Upholding public health in the midst of the COVID-19 was a serious consideration in the decision to host an online show instead of a regular show day. The Society shall not be responsible for the loss or for any damage or injury occasioned to any exhibit or the property of any exhibitor from any cause whatsoever. The exhibitor shall be liable to the Society and its employees, officers and officials for any damage or loss occasioned to any of them by the exhibit or the exhibitor or his agent.

Rules and regulations: 1. ALL BREEDS AND CROSSBREEDS ARE ELIGIBLE TO ENTER. 2. Farm must be located within a 35km radius of the Foster Showgrounds (boundary town s: Hedley, Mirboo North, Boolarra South, Leongatha South, Yanakie). 3. Maximum of SIX (6) entries per farm, with no more than TWO (2) exhibits entered per clas s. 4. Exhibit must be owned or leased by exhibitor (copy of lease must accompany exhibit ). 5. Judging will be conducted on exhibitor’s farm between the 1st and 24th February 202 1 (steward will contact with date and time). Exhibits can be shown carrying milk. Exhibits c an be washed. 6. Exhibits will be judged standing on concrete or lawn grass. A copy of the exhibit’s herd tes t data must be presented at the term of judging. 7. Conditions of Entry 1. Silage samples will be assessed based on data prov ided by samples submitted to Forage Lab Australia only. Silage must have been produced between 1st October and 31st December 2020 within a 35km radius of Foster. 2. Competition entry is free however you must pay the laboratory fee for the analysis of your sample /s. For most accurate analysis we recommend that core tested samples should be sent no later than Wednesday, so that the sample is received in the best condition possible. 3. There is no limit on the number of entries submitted per farm. 4. Silage analysis results are to be sent with completed entry form to [email protected] no later than 31st January 2021. 6. Winning samples will be announced online and in The Mirror Newspaper from the 27 t h F ebruary 2021 7. Entry and competition rules: 1. Entry fee: FREE – we hope this competition can be a fun way for the community to get creative and involved in the Foster Show 2. Entries open on 1st November 2020 and close at 5pm on Sunday 21st February 2021. 3. Hale Bale Artwork must be located within a 35km radius of the Foster Showgrounds. 4. Small squares, large squares and/or round bales of hay/strawor silage can be used in the construction of Bale Artworks 5. There is no limit on the number of entries submitted per property 6. A photograph of your entry is to be emailed to [email protected] with the exhibitor details (name, contact email and phone); of exhibit and; exhibit address (in order for exhibit to be verified) 5. Rules and regulations: 1. All breeds are eligible to enter. Judging will be interbreed unless a significant number of entries are received for a particular breed 2. Entries, accompanied by an entry form, are to be submitted by email to [email protected] by Sunday 7th February 2021. 3. Four (4) photos of each entry are required – side view, front view, close up of head, extended wing (see example below). Each entry should be sent in a separate email with all photos for that entry to be in one email.

4. Please include the following details in your entry email: exhibitor name; breed of exhibit; colour/variety and; gender. 5. To give an idea of bird size, at least one photo must include a standard 375ml aluminium can (eg Fanta, Coke, Solo etc) that has a complete view of the bird standing. 6. At least one photo must also clearly show legs, feet and toes. 7. Photo must not be digitally altered except for cropping if necessary.

Exhibits in VAS competitions will not be judged on photos. VAS exhibits only must be delivered to the Foster RSL on Tuesday 23rd February between 5-6pm or Wednesday 24th February between 8:30-9:30am for judging on Wednesday 24th February 2021. 813. VAS Rich Fruit Cake Competition The winners of the following competitions qualify for Regional finals & may go on to State finals. Ingredients: 250g sultanas 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg 250g chopped raisins 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 250g currants 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves 125g chopped mixed peel 250g butter 90g chopped red glace cherries 250g soft brown sugar 90g chopped blanched almonds 1/2 teaspoon lemon essence OR finely 1/3 cup sherry or brandy grated lemon rind 250g plain flour 1/2 teaspoon almond essence 60g self raising flour 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence 4 large eggs

Method: 1. Mix together all the fruits and nuts and sprinkle with the sherry or brandy. 2. Cover and leave for at least 1 hour, but preferably overnight. 3. Sift together the flours and spices. 4. Cream together the butter and sugar with the essences. 5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then alternately add the fruit and flour mixtures. Mix thoroughly. The mixture should be stiff enough to support a wooden spoon. 6. Place the mixture into a prepared tin (20 cm square, straight sided, square cornered tin) and bake in a slow oven for approximately 3½ - 4 hours. Allow the cake to cool in the tin. NOTE: To ensure uniformity and depending upon the size, it is suggested the raisins be snipped into 2 or 3 pieces, cherries into 4 or 6 pieces and almonds crosswise into 3 or 4 pieces.

814. VAS Junior Boiled Fruit Cake Competition First prize ribbon & $20, Second $10 Sponsored by Jessica Taylor, Foster Entrants must be under 18 yrs on Show Day All entries must be cooked in round tins. The following recipe is compulsory for all entrants:

Ingredients for Boiled Fruit Cake: Method: 375g mixed fruit 1. Place the mixed fruit, sugar, spice, water and butter in a large ¾ cup brown sugar saucepan and bring to the boil. 1 teaspoon mixed spice 2. Simmer gently for 3 minutes, then remove and allow to cool. ½ cup water 3. Add the bi carb, sherry, eggs and marmalade, mixing well. 125g butter 4. Fold in the sifted dry ingredients then place in a greased and ½ teaspoon bicarbonate soda lined 20cm round cake tin. ½ cup sherry 5. Bake in a moderately slow oven for 1.5 hours or until cooked 2 eggs lightly beaten when tested. 2 tablespoons marmalade 1 cup self raising flour 1 cup plain flour ¼ teaspoon salt

815. VAS Carrot Cake Competition (un-iced) First Prize Rosette & $15, Second $5 Sponsored by Howard Plowright, Foster All entries must be cooked in 20cm round tins. Cake to be un-iced. Using the Good Foods Australia award winning recipe. The following recipe is compulsory for all entrants: Ingredients: 2 tsp salt 375g plain flour 345g castor sugar 2 tsp baking powder 375ml vegetable oil 1 ½ tsp bicarb soda 4 eggs 2 tsp ground cinnamon 3 medium carrots, grated (350g) ½ tsp ground nutmeg 220g tin crushed pineapple, drained ½ tsp allspice 180g pecan nuts, crushed

Method: 1. Preheat oven to 180C (160C fan), grease a 20cm (8”) round cake tin & line with baking paper. 2. Sift dry ingredients together 3. In separate bowl beat eggs & oil, then add to dry ingredients. 4. Mix well then add carrots, crushed pineapple & pecans. 5. Mix to form a smooth batter & pour into cake pan. 6. Bake for approximately 90-100 minutes. 7. Remove from oven, allow to cool for 10 mins in the tin on a wire rack. Upend and allow to cool on the rack. 816. Junior Carrot & Date Muffins Competition First prize ribbons & $15, Second $5 Sponsored by Jessica Taylor, Foster Entrants must be under 18 yrs on Show Day The following recipe is compulsory for all entrants: Ingredients: 1 cup coarsely grated carrot 2 ½ cups self-raising flour 1 tablespoon orange marmalade 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 cup canola oil ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg 2 eggs, lightly beaten 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed) ¾ cup orange juice 1/3 cup pitted dates 1cup reduced fat milk

Method: 1. Heat oven to 190C (moderately hot) 2. Line a 12-hole muffin pan with round paper Muffin cases. Classic White Muffin Cases (size 35mm H x 90mm W x 50mm Bas e) 3. Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl; stir in dates, carrots. Then add the combined marmalade, oil, eggs, juice and milk. Mix until just combined 4. Spoon mixture evenly into prepared pan holes 5. Cook for 20 minutes, (to test muffins are cooked insert cake skewer. If it comes out clean the muffins are read y) 6. Stand muffins in pan for 5 minutes before removing to cool completely. Present 4 muffins for judging.

SEWING & NEEDLECRAFT 824. VAS Sewing Competition A tote/carry bag no larger than 50 cm on any one side. To be constructed in fabric, using natural fibre or fibre-blend. Handle/s to be made of fabric. Must be lined. Sewn by machine. May be hand finished. Minimum embellishments allowed. 829. VAS Knitting Competition A hand knitted garment for a Child 3-5 years of age, made from Pure Wool/Wool Blend of any ply. Must have attached label from wool used or label/receipt from woolen mill. All work to have been completed within the last 12 months. Aims of the Junior Show Ambassador Award: · To support young people to engage with and participate in their local Agricultural Society . · To be part of a local Show and therefore highlighting the importance of Shows . · To meet new people from all age groups with the same interests. Conditions of entry: · Entrants must be aged between 16 & 19 years on the day of their Show. · Entrants to demonstrate an active involvement and a desire to be involved in the future and improvement of their local community and Show Society . · You will be invited by the Show Society to come along for judging by two judges. Aims of the Rural Ambassador Award: · To highlight the talent, creativity and ingenuity of young rural people and in doing os, encourage entrants to be role models in local communities . · To encourage and reward enthusiastic, skillful and industrious young people who are involved in their communities . · To assist all entrants through their participation to develop str ong communication and leadership qualities. · Enable the entrant to gain greater proficiency in their chosen field and also to develop entrants’ stature and reputation in that chosen field.
