Lepidoptera) Records of Microlepidoptera from Denmark in 2018 (Lepidoptera)
Fund af småsommerfugle fra Danmark i 2018 (Lepidoptera) Records of Microlepidoptera from Denmark in 2018 (Lepidoptera) Otto Buhl, Per Falck, Ole Karsholt, Knud Larsen & Flemming Vilhelmsen Correspondance to: Småsommerfuglelisten, Zoologisk Museum, Universitetsparken 15, DK-2100 København Ø, Danmark, e-mail: [email protected] Abstract This article reports and comments on interesting Danish Microlepidoptera collected in 2018 and includes remarkable records from previous years. The classification and nomenclature follow the Danish checklist (Karsholt & Stadel Nielsen, 2013). Seven species are reported as new to the Danish fauna: 1) Micrurapteryx kollariella (Zeller, 1839) and 2) Caloptilia honoratella (Rebel, 1914) (Gracillariidae); 3) Dichomeris latipennella (Rebel, 1937) and 4) Scrobipalpa bryophiloides Povolný, 1966 (Gelechiidae); 5) Aethes bilbaensis (Rössler, 1877) (Tortricidae); 6) Hodebertia testalis (Fabricius, 1794) and 7) Cynaeda pustulalis (Hübner, 1823) (Crambidae). All were collected in one or two specimens with automatic light traps, apart from S. bryophiloides which was taken at light and H. testalis which was collected on sugar ropes. Stenoptilia veronicae Karvonen, 1932 replaces Stenoptilia eborinodactyla Zagulajev, 1986 in the Danish list. The introduced species Prays oleae (Bernard, 1788) is removed from the list as the only specimen recorded from Denmark belongs to Prays citri (Millière, 1873). The total number of Danish Gracillariidae is now 91, Gelechiidae 182, Tortricidae 395, and Crambidae 128. This results in a total of 1629 species of Microlepidoptera (families Micropterigidae–Zygaenidae + Pyralidae–Crambidae) found in Denmark. The total number of Macrolepidoptera species recorded from Denmark is 978, bringing the number of Danish Lepidoptera to a total of 2607 species. This is the 40th article in the series of yearly lists of Microlepidoptera from Denmark published in Entomologiske Meddelelser. -

Supplement No. 5 : 51-64 ; 31.X.1994 ISSN 0342-7536 Conserving Britain's rarest moths Paul Waring Windmill View, 1366 Lincoln Road, Werrington, Peterborough, PE4 6LS, UK Summary The work of the Joint Nature Conservation Committee Moth Conservation Project has several components. The first involves servicing a national network of recorders which was set up in the winter of 1990/91 to trawl information on the current national distribution, status and conservation requirements of the rarer species of macro-moths in Britain. The information collected is being used to organise surveys and produce national surveys and produce national distribution maps, data sheets and a bibliography for the rarer moths. The rarer macro-moths have been defined as those species believed to occur in less than one hundred of the 10 km squares in Britain. Approximately 280 of the 730 or more macro-moth species that breed in Britain are in this category now. The collected information is used by the government conservation agencies to identify important breeding sites and advise on their management. Since its inception in 1987 the Moth Conservation Project has also been involved in devising and assisting practical conservation measures for a number of rare moths including six species of moths which receive legal protection in Britain and are listed on Schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and 1988 amendment. These six are Zygaena viciae argyllensis Tremewan, Thetidia smaragdaria maritima Prout, Pareulype berberata Denis & Schiffer- müller, Siona lineata Scopoli, Acosmetia caliginosa Hübner and Hadena irregularis Hufnagel. -

MUSEUM AND INSTITUTE OF ZOOLOGY POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES FRAGMENTA FAUNISTICA Fragm. faun. W arszawa, 31.12.2002 45 131-145 Grażyna W i n i a r s k a Butterflies and moths ( Lepidoptera ) in urban habitats: the moths of Warsaw I. Noctuidae, Pantheidae, Nolidae Abstract: 302 moth species of the families Noctuidae, Pantheidae and Nolidae have been recorded in Warsaw to date. Of these, in historical times were recorded 286 species (86 of them only then, including one - M. acetosellae, which can no longer be found in Poland). Most of these species are now regarded as very rare and occurring only locally in Central Europe (e.g. I. calvaria, S. taenialis, C. pacta, P. moneta, P. cheiranthi, H. ononis, A. caliginosa, D. oo, T. ludifica). Contemporary records list 212 species, most of which are widely distributed in Poland and classified as abundant (e.g. D. trifolii, M. pallens, X. c-nigrum, A. exclamationis). 7 species: M. confusa, A. gamma, S. scutosa, H. peltigera, S. exigua, L. zollikoferi and A. ipsilon are migrant visitors. Key words: Noctuidae, Pantheidae, Nolidae, Lepidoptera, urban habitats, Warsaw Author's address: Museum and Institute of Zoology PAS, Wilcza 64, 00-679 Warszawa, POLAND INTRODUCTION Studies of Lepidoptera from urban habitats have not been carried out in too many Polish towns. Warsaw is now the most extensively studied Polish town, with research carried out both in the city and in its suburbs, starting from the mid-19th century. As early as 1764-1798, during his expeditions K.H. Perthes, the court geographer of king Stanisław August Poniatowski collected, among others, insects ( Coleoptera, Orthoptera and Lepidoptera). -

In each year the trap operated from 5 March until 5 November. During the eight years altogether 127 929 specimens were collected belonging to 594 species, which is about 60% of the Hungarian fauna. 216 species occurred in each year. Noctuidae and Geometridae were most rich in spe- cies and most abundant. Arctiidae, Lasiocampidae, Notodontidae and Sphingidae were also represented in a considerable proportion. The analysis of the flight activity curves shows two summer peaks and also a smaller spring and an autumn peak. The faunal type composition of the species and their abundance, respectively, was the following: Transpalearctic (48.15%, 55.68%), Boreo Continental (18.86, 8.16%), South Continental (2.02%, 0.67%), West Palae- arctic (28.96%, 35.14%), Xeromontane (1.01%, 0.05%) and Extrapalaearctic (1.01%, 0.31%). -

Based on our survey results, a total of 262 lepidopterous insect species in 16 families were collected from Jindo Island. Members belonging to families Noctuidae and Geometridae made up approximately half of the total species (86 species [32.82%] in Noctuidae and 44 species [16.79] in Geometridae). There were 29 species (11.07%) belonging to Crambidae and 28 species (10.69%) belonging to Pyralidae. As a result of all collections based on previous literature and this study, a total of 730 species belonging to 34 families were collected from Jindo Island, including 33 protected species, 242 species (33.15%) belonging to Noctuidae (the most abundant), 124 species (16.99%) belonging to Geometridae, 79 species (10.82%) belonging to Crambidae, and 65 species (8.90%) belonging to Pyralidae. The most frequently collected species was Lamoria glaucalis in this syudy. Our results on the diversity of lepidopterous insects will provide basic information for future investigation on diverse changes in the ecosystem of Jindo Island, Korea. -

Abstract: Fluctuation variability, as a type of phenotypic variability is expressed in the fluctuation of phenotypic features. The study showed that fluctuations in the non-directional (fluctuating) asymmetry and biomass of leaf plates of woody species are associated with climatic factors and with geographical features of populations.
