ERD commander is paid product from sysinternals. ERD Commander is a tool that was originally developed by Winternals (Windows Sysinternals). Microsoft acquired Winternals and its assets on July 18, 2006. Microsoft included this tool, firstly, in its Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) and changed its name to Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (DaRT). This tool has been developed further and its latest version is 7.0. Please consider that each version works only with some operating systems. For example, DaRT 5.0 only works with Windpws XP and Windows Server 2003, 6.0 works with Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Hope this little inf helps you. Msdart windows 10 iso download. My issue is, I need to reset a password where the user has forgotten the Admin password, she is the only admin user on the computer. I have the MDOP 2013 for Windows 8, and have installed DaRT 8. I have created boot media using DaRT 8 for her machine (Dell XPS 13 using Dell OEM Windows 8 recovery disk) But upon booting the option for locksmith is greyed out. As I understand it is important to create ERD Commander Recovery Dik specific for the operating system I am wanting to triage. I've found a video on technet which describes how to use ERD Boot Commander Wizard, however I cannot find this application, where is it supposed to be installed from? The only installable options for DaRT were. Crash Analyzer DaRT Recovery Image DaRT Remote connection viewer. Answers. Ok, the only time I've ever seen that, is when I've had a mis-match between the DaRT version and the version of the OS I'm trying to recover/repair. e.g. DaRT5 booted up on a Win7 machine. If you use the "Disk Commander" tool, do you have access to the volumes and file system on the failed pc? If not, the issue might be due to missing storage drivers, or, disk encryption. I can imagine either of those situations would limit some tools. Locksmith needs to find the local security database (SAM), mount it, and then tinker with it, to perform the password reset. None of which is going to possible if it can't mount the volume. If you try the DaRT8 disk in a different Win8 machine, do you get the same symptom? Have you tried DaRT8SP1?
