THE NARCOTICS ORDER 1967

KEITH HOLYOAKE, C.H., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to the Narcotics Act 1965, His Exce.llency the Governor­ General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER 1. (1) This order may be cited as the Narcotics Order 1967. (2) This order shall come into force on the seventh day after the date of its notification in the. Gazette. 2. The First Schedule to the Narcotics Act 1965 is hereby amended by inserting in clause 1, in their appropriate alphabetical order, the following names of substances: "ACETORPHINE (3-0 acetyltetrahydro-7 alpha- (1-hydroxy-1-methyl­ butyl) -6, 14-endoetheno-). " (tetrahydro-7. alpha-(1-hydroxy-l-methylbutyl)-6, 14- endoetheno-oripavine) . " (6-nicotinyldihydrocodeine)." 3. The First Schedule to the Narcotics Act 1965 is hereby further amended- (a) By omitting from clause 1 the words "PHOLCODEINE (morpholinylethylmorphine)", and substituting the words "PHOLCODINE (morpholinylethylmorphine)": (b) By omitting from paragraph (a) of clause 6 the word "phol­ ", and substituting the word "pholcodine". EXPLANATORY NOTE This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect. This order amends the Narcotics Act 1965 by adding acetorphine, etorphine, and nicodicodine 'to the l]st of narcotics set out in the First Schedule to that Act. The order also corrects the spelling of the name of the drug "pholcodine".
