Drawing on the enthusiasm of local musicians, the WMGSO strives to draw new audiences to both and orchestral concerts. The WMGSO grew from the spirit of the GSO at the University of Maryland, the nation’s first collegiate orchestra devoted exclusively to performing video game music. Several graduates discussed creating a community-level ensemble to continue the mission of the university group. Founded in summer 2012, the WMGSO is the result. The group’s inaugural season began in August 2013 with about 15 instrumentalists and singers, and now boasts nearly 60 members. About the Music Director WMGSO’s Musical Director is Nigel Horne. Nigel is an experienced conductor, clinician and composer, with a degree in band studies from the University of Sheffield, England, and a Master of Philosophy in Free Composition from the University of Leeds. Nigel also directs the Rockville Brass Band. About Living Faith Lutheran Church Living Faith Lutheran Church became Rockville’s first Lutheran congregation in 1952. Living Faith is a welcoming, community- focused and growing congregation, pastored by the Rev. Sandra Shaw. The church serves as a hub of community services, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Girl Scouts of America and Meals-on- Wheels. Living Faith also regularly hosts the rehearsals and performances of the Montgomery County Chamber Music Society.

Join us for WMGSO’s free spring finale performance, Saturday, June 7, at 7 p.m., Rockville High School. The WMGSO is an incorporated non-profit operating in the state of Maryland. To cover the costs associated with rehearsal and concert rentals, licensing fees, and other operating expenses, the WMGSO relies heavily on the generosity of its members and supporters.
