A Report by Directors UK 1. Executive Summary This study, conducted throughout 2013, examined a range of television programmes produced by BBC, ITV Studios, and six leading independent production companies; All3Media, Endemol, Fremantle, Kudos, Shed and Zodiak. The study provides a snapshot of employment patterns and practices on programmes transmitted up to December 2012. The data is drawn from programme credits for UK commissioned television programmes, matched with the most comprehensive database of directors working on those programmes. It shows a worrying decrease in employment for women directors in the most recent 2 years analysed (i.e. 2011 and 2012), specifically in drama, entertainment and comedy. Key findings 0% Women directors have ever worked on many popular dramas and entertainment shows. 13% Drama episodes directed by women in 2011 and 2012, down from 14% of the total sample1.

Desde a sua origem e implementação como indústria que a música portuguesa tem apresentado dificuldades de se internacionalizar. Se tal se deve, em grande parte, ao isolamento a que o país esteve sujeito durante o regime do Estado Novo, a situação pouco se alterou com a revolução de 25 de abril de 1974. Era suposto que o surgimento do digital, aliado a novas tecnologias de divulgação e partilha e a menores custos de produção alterassem a situação. No entanto, num mundo cada vez mais globalizado, Portugal parece continuar a padecer do isolamento e da sua condição geograficamente periférica. O que verdadeiramente acontece é que, o verdadeiro problema, hoje e sempre, reside na falta de apoios e de estruturas profissionais que permitam alavancar a música portuguesa no seu processo de internacionalização e exportação como um bem consumível, gerador de emprego e de retorno económico.

    Thompson, Synagro reach truce of sorts By Doug Keeler, Midway Driller Editor Taft Midway Driller, Wednesday, July 11, 2007 City Councilman Cliff Thompson, an outspoken critic of importing Southern California's sewage sludge into Kern County, has reached an accommodation of sorts with Synagro. He says he is willing to accept Synagro's biosolids composting facility east of Taft in an area the city wants to annex. "First of all they are here, so we've got to co-exist," Thompson said in an interview last week. At Tuesday's council meeting, he put it like this: "Am I going to be in their corner? Probably not. Am I going to be less vocal? Probably so." Thompson toured Synagro's plant on South Lake Road with other city officials last week, then met at length by himself with Synagro representative Lorrie Loder. He said he sees a major distinction between Synagro, which combines the biosolids with greenwaste and composts it for use as fertilizer and soil amendments, and the land application in Kern County of the unprocessed sludge. "There's a huge difference. Night and day," Thompson said. Synagro is not land applying biosolids. They are turning it into compost. I think what they are doing is probably the best way of processing the biosolids." Thompson said his tour of Synagro's composting facility and the meeting with Loder impressed him. "I had my eyes opened a little bit," he said. Thompson said he was impressed with the steps Synagro takes at the South Kern Composting Facility to keep pollutants out of the ground water and to keep other pollutants out of the atmosphere.
