St. Columba’s Boys National School Douglas Sciath Na Scol Football ‘F1’ Final Wednesday 16th November 2011 Situtated on a five acre campus in the heart of Douglas, our school has been a centre for learning for over 100 years. Our most important resource is our staff, the principal, class teachers, and learning support teachers. We also have in addition, classroom assistants, administrative and maintenance staff. Our aim is to help each pupil in our care to grow and develop in a stimulating and enriching environment, so that his full potential is realised. St. Columba’s has a strong sporting tradition. Given the tradition of the GAA in the Douglas area and its importance to the local community, both hurling and football are developed by our talented teaching staff in partnership with Douglas GAA club. I am in 6th class. I play GAA for Douglas and soccer for Corinthians. I am the captain of the Sciath na Scoil team and I play centre forward. This is my 2nd football final. I hope to play for Cork when I’m older. My name is Rory Doyle. I am eleven years old. I have one brother and one sister and we live in Douglas. I play mid-field for St. Columba’s’. I also play hurling and soccer. My favourite TV show is south Park. My name is Oliver Murphy. I am eleven years old and I am in 6th class. I have been training to make the school panel for four years. I play rugby with Cork Constitution. I also like to play hurling and basketball. My nae is Jaze Kaia I a 11 years old ad I’ i 5th class. I play hurling football golf and soccer. I play right half forward and my shirt number is 12.My favourite positions are midfield and forward. In the future I would like to play for the Cork Senior Football or Hurling team. My favourite player is Daniel Goulding. My name is Joe Duggan I am 12 years old. I am corner forward. I play corner back on the team. My hobbies are football and hurling. My wish is to play with the Cork Senior Football team. My favourite player is Eoin Cadogan. I am in 5th class. I live in Monkstown. I play right corner back with the school team. I play with Douglas GAA. My favourite TV show is Family guy. Message from the Principal I am very proud that once again we have reached a Sciath na Scol Roinn A Football Final. Sciath na Scol is a great competition and to reach the final is an added bonus. It gives the whole school community a great sense of pride and excitement. We have an outstanding record in this competition and hopefully this will continue on Wednesday 16th November in Páirc Uí Rinn. I take this opportunity to thank our boys on the panel for their tremendous commitment and efforts in representing the school and reaching the final. Special thanks to our Deputy Principal, Mr. Bernard Lynch, Mr. O’Connor, and Mr Eddie Murphy for their involvement in training the team. Finally, a huge thank you to all the teachers, parents and supporters who have helped along the way.
