Darade1, Yawatkar PC2 1PG Student, Dept. of Samhita, 2HOD, Dept. of Samhita & Siddhantha SVNTH’s Ayurved College, Rahuri Factory, Ahmadnagar, Maharashtra *Corresponding Author: Email: [email protected] Abstract Amlapitta is most common disorders in the society nowadays, due to indulgence in incompatible food habits and activities. In Brihatrayees of Ayurveda, scattered references are only available about Amlapitta. Kashyapa Samhita was the first Samhita which gives a detailed explanation of the disease along with its etiology, signs and symptoms with its treatment protocols. A group of drugs and Pathyas in Amlapitta are explained and shifting of the place is also advised when all the other treatment modalities fail to manage the condition. The present review intended to explore the important aspect of Amlapitta and its management as described in Kashyapa Samhita, which can be helpful to understand the etiopathogenesis of disease with more clarity and ultimately in its management, which is still a challenging task for Ayurveda physician. The term Amlapitta is a compound one While explaining the indications of Ashtavidha Ksheera comprising of the words Amla and Pitta out of these, & Kamsa Haritaki, Amlapitta has also been listed and the word Amla is indicative of a property which is Kulattha (Dolichos biflorus Linn.) has been considered organoleptic in nature and identified through the tongue as chief etiological factor of Amlapitta in Agrya while the word Pitta is suggestive of one of the Tridosas Prakarana. -

Beholding the army of the Pandavas swelling with might and energy, what behaviour did the Kuru prince Suyodhana adopt towards the Pandavas, thinking it suitable to the hour? I desire to hear all this. Tell me, O foremost of regenerate ones, I am never satiated with listening to the grand feats of my ancestors.” Vaisampayana said, “After the fall of Karna, O king, Dhritarashtra’s son Suyodhana was plunged deep into an ocean of grief and saw despair on every side. Indulging in incessant lamentations, saying, ‘Alas, oh Karna! Alas, oh Karna!’ he proceeded with great difficulty to his camp, accompanied by the unslaughtered remnant of the kings on his side. Thinking of the slaughter of the Suta’s son, he could not obtain peace of mind, though comforted by those kings with excellent reasons inculcated by the scriptures. Regarding destiny and necessity to be all- powerful, the Kuru king firmly resolved on battle. Having duly made Salya the generalissimo of his forces, that bull among kings, O monarch, proceeded for battle, accompanied by that unslaughtered remnant of his forces. Then, O chief of Bharata’s race, a terrible battle took place between the troops of the Kurus and those of the Pandavas, resembling that between the gods and the Asuras. -

Introduction In Western civilization, the prefix ‘Ur’ is often used as metaphor to refer to a primitive, seminal, or prototypical example of an artistic representation, concept or idea. The associations of the word can be traced back to Sumerian sources and the origins of Indo- European civilization. Ur is considered by many to be the city of Ur-Kasdim mentioned in the Book of Genesis as the birthplace of the patriarch Abram (Abraham). The existence of cities can be traced back in antiquity to the important role of communities such as Memphis, Babylon, Thebes, Athens, Sparta, Mohenjodaro or Anuradhapura, among others. Rome was perhaps the first city to reach a population of one million around the time of Christ. Only in 1800 did London become the second city to reach this size. At that time only two percent of the world’s population was urbanized. Communities are not just defined in political and economic terms: cultural issues, perceptions, and foci contribute to give identity to the community, whether a village, a city, or a nation. Mirrors of cultural change, artistic representations offer insights into the way humans have transformed their living spaces. Works by artists, poets, novelists, visual artists, etc., helps unveil the distinctiveness in the way communities are viewed. The term mindscape, used to refer to human communities, refers to structures for thinking about human spaces built on conceptualisations of their physical landscape, whether urban or rural, and more recently virtual, as well as on their images as transported through cultural representation, memory, and imagination in different media formats. -

With the thrust of Issue: 1 disability right movements and development in eld of disability studies, the mythical past of dis- ability is worthy to study. Classic Indian Scriptures mention differently able character in prominent positions. Significant Persons/ Founders Historical Figures Aksapada Gautama (600 BCE): Aksapada Gautama is believed to be, at the very least, the principal author of Nyaya Sutras, the foundational text of the Nyaya school of Hindu philosophy. Nyaya comprises both philosophical and religious practices. Its ultimate concern is to bring an end to human suffering, which results from ignorance of reality. Liberation is brought about through right knowledge. Nyaya is thus concerned with the means of right knowledge and right action. The date when the text was composed as well as the biography of its author are uncertain. Estimates vary significantly ranging from between 6th-century BCE to 2nd-century BCE. As well, it is believed that the Nyaya Sutras may have been written by more than one author, and perhaps over a long period of time. A sutra is a Sanskrit word that means “string, thread,” and is a condensed manual of knowledge of a specific field or school of thought. Each sutra is written in the form of a short rule, like a theorem summarized into few words or syllables, around which the teachings of any field of knowledge can be woven. The Nyaya Sutras text consists of five books of two chapters each, with a cumulative total of 528 sutras about rules of reason, logic, knowledge, and metaphysics. Kanada (6th Century BCE to 2nd Century BCE): Kanada (also known as Kashyapa, Uluka, Kananda, and Kanabhuk) founded the Vaisheshika school of Hindu philosophy. The Vaisheshika system holds that the smallest, indivisible, indestructible part of the world is an atom (anu).
