CHARLES S. FILLMORE PAPERS (3026) Summary Description The papers of Charles S. Fillmore primarily document his work from 1903 to 1933 as minister of Unity Society of Practical Christianity in Kansas City, Missouri, and as author, lecturer, cofounder, and President of Unity School of Christianity through 1948. The majority of the collection consists of Fillmore's instructions for individuals seeking spiritual guidance through practical Christ-based living. Sunday addresses, daily and weekly prayer meetings, and training lectures (in handwritten and typewritten formats) contain metaphysical interpretations of the Bible and chronicle Fillmore's 44 years of continuous service as a Unity minister. Of equal importance to these lessons, although not as voluminous, are administrative and personal files containing various items dating from the founding of Unity in 1889 as a New Thought, Christian, healing, and prayer ministry that has grown to encompass a worldwide community.
