International Journal of Advanced in Management, Technology and Engineering Sciences ISSN NO : 2249-7455 A poet of Eternal Relevance Dr. Sir Mohammad Iqbal Dr. Gazala Firdoss, Lecturer Government Degree College Magam, Budgam. Abstract: This paper is a modest attempt to reflect on the essential message of Iqbal, the poet of humanity and what relevance it has for our contemporary times. We are living at a time in which mankind has made vast strides and progress in almost all fields of life. But with all these advancement in knowledge, science and technology and the information revolution, it is a tragedy to see that this is also the age of crisis, wars and bloodshed, armed aggression, social and economic injustice, human rights violation, alcoholism and drug addiction, sexual crimes and psychological disorders, increasing suicides and the disintegration of the family. All these are symptoms of a sick and decadent society, which is drifting aimlessly like a ship in an uncharted ocean. Modern man has alienated from himself and had lost the meaning and purpose of life. Really speaking, the political problems, the conflict between nations, violence and crime, environmental crisis are external manifestations of the inner crisis of the contemporary societies, manifested in social and economic injustice and the violation of human rights, denial and deprivation of the fundamental freedom of man, social disparity and inequality and in turn are causing social tensions and conflicts in human societies all over the globe. It is in this context, that Iqbal’s concept of dignity of man and the sanctity of human personality and freedom assumes significance. -

Indeed, he is one of the most important Islamic modernists, a source of inspiration for enlightened Islam today, and one of the great philosophers of life in the first half of the 20th century. This article explains the main concepts of philosophy: “self”, “love”, “intuition”, his philoso- phy of time, his concept of Islam, and his critique of the West. It then traces the in- fluences on his thought from Islamic thinkers, from the Western philosophers Fichte, Kant, Nietzsche, and Bergson, and the Influence of the Indian society he was living in. Iqbal claimed that all his ideas derived from his thorough reading of the Quran. However, the questions that shaped his answers were very much in the form of the European philosophy of the time, and in that of the discourses of his society too. International Journal of Humanities and Social Science Vol. 5, No. 3; March 2015 The Support for the Caliphate from Indian Subcontinent to Anatolia and Muhammad Iqbal Salih PAY Associate Professor Department of History of Islam, Faculty of Theology, Uludağ University, Bursa Turkey Abstract Muhammad Iqbal (1873-1938) is an Indian Muslim poet. Indian Muslims is an expression used for Muslims lived together with the Hindus in Indian Subcontinent in South Asia until 20th century. Muslims, until the Geographical discoveries, lived as largely ruling class in this region which Hindu population consists of the majority. Colonization, starting with the appearance of Portuguese in the 15th century, reached the highest point when the British seized the whole dominance of the continent in the middle of 19th century. In the colonial period, Indian Muslim, led by religious scholars and leading figures, on one hand, looked for ways to get rid of British rule, on the other hand they endeavored to help the Ottoman Empire that contains the Caliphate, to stand against the British or other colonial powers. However, on the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, they used all resources to support the National Struggle movement. This paper deals with the interest and activities of Muhammed İqbal as a thinker and poet knew both the East and the West, who put into words the feelings of Indian Muslims in his poems, and motivated all the Indian people including non-Muslims by his speech. Ideological Similarities of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam 49 Ideological Similarities of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Prof. Dr. Ayub Sabir Abstract The article aims to explore the ideological similarities between Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal as well as their ideological conversion from Indian nationalism to Muslim nationalism. In his address at Aligarh, 1901, Iqbal made it very clear that the element of Islamic thought in Muslim nationalism is unique among other nationalities in which tauheed (Oneness) is the central variable. Lucknow Pact was completely rejected in Nehru Report as well as the idea of a separate electorate. Provincial Congress governments were established in 1937. Hindu-Muslim riots, Wardha Scheme of Education and Vande Mataram had badly exposed Hindu mentality over Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The article concludes that there is perfect harmony between the views of Iqbal and the statements of Quaid. All the statements that belong to Jinnah after ideological conversion are in complete concordance with the views of Iqbal. Special focus is laid on the ideological conversion of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. In the beginning, Allama Iqbal (R.A) was inclined towards diverse tendencies, in which the propagation of Islamic influence and ‘Indian nationalism’ was quite dominant. Till 1905, he wrote excellent poems like “tasveer-e-dard” (The Portrait of Anguish), “tarana Hindi” (The Indian Anthem) and “Naya Shiwala” (A New Altar) in favour of Indian nationalism, the most impressive writings, having deep insight for the reader. -

College, Jalandhar, Punjab (India) [email protected] +919814732040 Abstract 72 years later, it may look to be a useless debate. Pakistan is and will remain. But ‘the study of the past is essential for 'rooting' people in time as History is an explanation of the past for understanding of the present and preparation for the future’. Both India and Pakistan are progressing within their ambits and the people of both the countries have reconciled to their destinies. Yet it becomes a ‘duty’ of the ‘present day historians’ in both the countries to enlighten their younger generations, born after 1947, to know as to how this idea of ‘Two Nation Theory’was initiated, sprouted, percolated and finally got ingrained in the hearts and brains of the people of the ‘British India’ which, ultimately, compelled the mighty ‘British’ to divide the ‘British India’ into two independent nations: the ‘Pakistan’ and ‘India’. Most of the historians on both the sides would name none other than Allama Sir Muhammad Iqbal- the Poet Laureate’. They believe that articulation of this theory was born out of Iqbal’s conviction, ever since he returned from the Europe, that the Hindus and Muslims are“Two Separate Nations”. He would express this thought in almost all his writings to remind Muslims of the subcontinent of the past glory of Islamic civilization and, thereby, promoting pure Islam as a socio-political thought. -

Iqbal and Muslim Unity
IntellectualDiscourse, 2002 Vol 10, No 2, 115-124 Iqbal and Muslim Unity Sanusi bin Junid* Abstract: This paperexamines the views of Mohd. Iqbal concerningMuslims and analyzes his ideas to attain Muslim unity. Iqbal, known as the poet- philosopher of Pakistan,was not a narrow nationalist and his vision was not limited to Pakistan.Iqbal's vision was ummatic and hencehe should be referred to as "the poet philosopherof Muslim unity." He had a distinct conceptionof Muslim unity and suggestedclear cut guidelines to attain that cherishedgoal. These ideas were as much relevant to his times as they are relevant to the contemporaryMuslim world which is characterizedby disunity. Muslims, accordingto the Quran, form one brotherhoodbecause they are fused together by their belief in tawbld, risiilah and iikhirah. The Qur<an and the Sunnahof the Prophet(SAS) require Muslims to work for the unity of the Ummah. They are required by the Qur<an to be merciful towards each other (48:29) and, according to the Prophet (SAS), they are like the body such that if one part is injured, the whole body shivers in pain. Unfortunately, Muslims are not practicing this injunction of the Qur<an and the Sunnahof the Prophet(SAS). Instead of Muslims being united in mercy towards eachother, and feelings the pain and misery of other Muslims (like in Chechnya, Palestine,and Kashmir), they are enjoying their material comforts of life or, at best, passingtheir time debatingthe issue of Muslim unity. In the meantime, Muslim misery and sufferings continue. It is sad to see Muslim governments collaborating with non-Muslims to inflict damage and sufferings to their fellow Muslims.
