: B^CK HISTORY WEEK Black History Week will be observed by the cair^sus community OBSERVED BY VARIETY today in a full day's series of programs under the heading OF EVENTS today" of "Blacks in the Arts." i Beginning at 10:30 a.m. paintings, sculpture and jewelry and other art work by Black artists will be on display for viewing by guests.in the Lower Commons.

At 11:30 a.m. a luncheon will begin, attended by over 100 Black Student Union members, their guests and people from the outside community and canpus. During luncheon Leon Childress, an independent designer, will present a fashion show featuring some of his haute couture designs modeled by four of his top models. Mr. Childress, who has a famous line of exclusive clothes with the Bullocks stores, was formerly with "Mr. Blackwell," world-famous designer.

Featured as the guest speaker at the luncheon is . Miss Lincoln, also known as Aminata Moseka, is a well-known actress and singer currently appearing in a production of "The Gingerbread Man" in the Ebony Showcase in .

She may be recalled in one of her most memorable roles in "For the Love of Ivy," a film in which she starred with and Beau Bridges. She has also performed as a singer with noted jazz musician Max Roach and has made many TV appearances. Abbey Lincoln, Her talk will be on "The Black Artist."

At 7 p.m. a play entitled "Taking Care of Business" will be presented by the Miklac Players from USC, produced by Michael Rayson, award-winning director, Following the play a social hour in the SUMP will be held during which members of the acting conpany will visit with the audience and answer questions.

A disco dance sponsored by the BSU begins at 9 p.m. and will feature Lee Rogers, Jr., disc jockey from radio station KUOR, Redlands. Starting at 8 a.m., three adjudicators will rate and evaluate the bands through 5 o'clock that evening. Greg Adams will serve as master clinician. Mr. Adams is the arranger and trumpet player for the group. Tower of Power. He will also lead the CSCSB Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo in an evening concert starting at 8:15 p.m. All events, scheduled in the Recital Hall, are open to all, free of charge. FILM SERIES CONTINUES "La Regie du Jeu," considered the directorial master- WITH TWO FRENCH GREATS piece of Jean Renoir, will be presented at a showing in PS-10 tomorrow evening at 7 p.m., free of charge.

The film, shown as part of the College's Foreign Film Series, is listed among the 10 greatest films of all time in an international poll of film critics. It is a satire on the decadence of the pre-World War II French aristocracy. Starring Marcel Dalio and Nore Gregory, the 1939 film offers the message that in every society there are rules that must be observed and games that must be played in order to survive. ^

Another French film by Jean Renoir, "La Grande Illusion," will be presented February 24. This Academy Award-winning anti-war classic explores the fraternity of men during wartime. It stars Pierre Fresnay and Erich von Stoheim.

HOLLYWOOD'S "SUNSET The Academy Award-winning film, "Sunset Boulevard," star- BOULEVARD'SCREENS ring Gloria Swanson and , as well as Eric von Stroheim, will be shown Wednesday, February 21, at 11 a.m. This two-hour show is sponsored by the School of Humanities and the English Department. Admission is open to the cairpus and is free of charge. (LC-500)

RCC STUDENT IN Katharine Whitescarver. a freshman at Riverside City College, PIANO RECITAL will perform the music of Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Tchai- kovski in a noon piano recital here in the Recital Hall.

Miss Whitescarver's performance is part of a "mini-tour" which has included performances at schools in Riverside, other colleges and locations. She has been studying piano for 10 years.
