Dana Perino Former White House Press Secretary, Political Commentator, New York Times No. 1 Best-Selling Author, and Co-Anchor of Fox’s "America's Newsroom" The Political Realities—Right Now. A larger-than-life personality, Dana Perino, shares insights and stories in an entertaining look at politics today. Communicating with audiences with the same clarity and precision that gained the respect of the rough-and-tumble White House press corps and the other panelists at The Five, her exposure to and time spent interfacing with the media gives her a unique understanding of the spin, the realities, and the ways in which the public is being affected by the current political climate. From her time on The Five to her experience in the White House, her dual perspectives in front of the camera and inside the West Wing make her one sought after political expert. She brings an insider’s knowledge to her analysis, addressing what’s on the minds of Americans and American politicians. She is also particularly adept at depicting how politics affects people outside the beltway, and she breaks down what organizations need to know about politics, offering a clear picture of the changes to come. Message Management In Critical Times. In uncertain economic times, when the American public is re-examining how it consumes news and who it trusts for information, reputation management is more important than ever. As White House Press Secretary, Perino served as the conduit between government and the media, communicating the President’s key messages to the American people. An expert in public relations and crafting constructive, forward-looking messages in trying times, she discusses how reputation and message management ensures the health of an organization. -

THE NEWS VS. the TRUTH Jon Klein ‘80 Former President, CNN/U.S
THE NEWS VS. THE TRUTH Jon Klein ‘80 Former President, CNN/U.S. A multidisciplinary exploration into the growing mistrust of mainstream media, increasingly siloed sources of information, and disagreement about fundamental facts. This study group will examine how journalists work, and how the brain works to decide what it believes to be true, even in the face of contrary evidence. Featuring guest lectures from practitioners of objective reporting, partisan rhetoric, and social media; as well as from Professor Steven Sloman from the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences. The format is four two-hour sessions, featuring brief lectures followed by discussion. Guest speakers will present for 15-20 minutes, followed by moderated Q&A with students. In addition to reading assignments, students will be expected to watch, read or listen to examples of news coverage that illustrate the theme of each session, and prepare comments or questions about it. The study group will follow an arc that begins with the norms of traditional journalism – encountering those who adhere to and violate them; then delve into how the human mind decides what is true. Next, we’ll explore how politicians, celebrities, and vested interests in the U.S. and abroad leverage that psychology to sway opinion, often using nefarious methods. Culminating with a discussion of whether there is any way out of the deeply divided path in which we find ourselves today. 1. NEWS NORMS, THEIR CHAMPIONS AND VIOLATORS What are the norms of objective news reporting, and its limits? How has traditional journalism been undermined by conservative media, and how vast is the resulting gulf in American society? Guest speaker: Anderson Cooper, CNN. -

Administration of Barack Obama, 2014 Remarks at the White House
Administration of Barack Obama, 2014 Remarks at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner May 3, 2014 The President. Thank you so much. Everybody, have a seat, have a seat. Before I get started, can we get the new Presidential setup out here? [At this point, aides placed two fern plants beside the podium.] It's worked before. [Laughter] That's more like it. It is great to be back. What a year, huh? I usually start these dinners with a few self- deprecating jokes. After my stellar 2013, what could I possibly talk about? [Laughter] I admit it, last year was rough. Sheesh. [Laughter] At one point, things got so bad, the 47 percent called Mitt Romney to apologize. [Laughter] Of course, we rolled out healthcare.gov. That could have gone better. [Laughter] In 2008, my slogan was, "Yes, we can." In 2013, my slogan was, "Control-Alt-Delete." [Laughter] On the plus side, they did turn the launch of healthcare.gov into one of the year's biggest movies. [Laughter] [An image of the title of the Walt Disney Co. film "Frozen" was shown.] But rather than dwell on the past, I would like to pivot to this dinner. Let's welcome our headliner this evening, Joel McHale. On "Community," Joel plays a preening, self-obsessed narcissist. So this diner must be a real change of pace for you. [Laughter] I want to thank the White House Correspondents' Association for hosting us here tonight. I am happy to be here, even though I am a little jetlagged from my trip to Malaysia. -

Part 2 of 3. Your briefing this week is part of a special edition series from Economic War Room at the Falkirk Center Freedom Summit. Economic and political weapon systems are being pointed at the United States at record levels all while Wall Street firms are investing in the Chinese Communist Party with your money! This is a dynamic that must be countered by Americans now. A closer look at the NSIC Institute and how Americans can “weaponize their money” to align with their values and biblical principles. Eric Bolling and Nan Hayworth facilitate the discussion on new ways to harness our economic power to ensure conservative outcomes. Your Mission: This is a panel discussion on how to weaponize your investments with conservative and biblical principles. “This is not a traditional war where you’re going to kiss your spouse goodbye and you are going to get on a boat and go fight a war somewhere. It’s an economic war. It’s a war targeting average American individuals. And if you’re going to fight that economic war, you got to get your weapons. And if it’s an economic war, your weapon is your money.” –Kevin Freeman page 1 China summit - falkirk center 4.122 CLEARED FOR RELEASE 01/21/2021 [Economic Battle PlanTM points: 87) Ep. 4-122 (OSINT) Open-Sourced Intelligence Briefing. -
