Michalek's fifth of the campaign provided the Senators with a 1-0 advantage 6:25 into the contest but the visitors were held off the scoresheet for the remainder of the night. The shootout featured 10 rounds with Ottawa markers by Michalek, Turris and Zibanejad while Buffalo received tallies from Flynn, Moulson and Ott before Girgensons' winner.
