We have not increased prices of our clothing for many years, however, as the company are increasing their prices from January 2017, I’m afraid that we will have no option but to increase our prices too. Clothing will no longer be available to order via the school office (apart from ties). Orders made online can be delivered to your home address (costs £4.99 or free delivery if you spend £50 or more). Insight 2006 Population estimates for settlements and wards Information February 2008 This Insight contains the latest estimates of the population of settlements and wards within Falkirk Council area. These update the 2005 figures published in April 2007. The total population of the Council area is 149,680. Introduction Table 2: Settlement population estimates 2006 Settlement Population This Insight contains the latest (2006) estimates of Airth 1,763 the total population of each of the settlements and Allandale 271 wards in Falkirk Council area by the R & I Unit of Avonbridge 606 Corporate & Commercial Services. Telephone 01324 504950 e-mail [email protected] Report Progress Report 2010 Reference Date July 2010 2 Progress Report - 2010 Falkirk Council - Scotland July 2010 Executive Summary A review of the Council’s monitoring data for 2009 shows that the 15-minute objective continues to be breached in the Grangemouth AQMA. In 2009 the Grangemouth Moray site recorded 65 exceedances. This is greater than the 35 allowed by the objective. All SO 2 monitors outside the AQMA met the 15-minute objective, with all sites meeting the hourly and daily SO 2 objectives. A breach of the 2010 annual PM 10 objective was recorded at the Falkirk West Bridge St site in 2009. This result will be used in the Falkirk Town Centre Further Assessment. Therefore the Council will wait for this report to be completed before considering whether to adjust the current AQMA. Since the 2009 USA the Council has declared three AQMAs for NO 2, two are in Falkirk Town Centre and one in the Haggs and Banknock area. In addition, the Banknock area near Cowdenhill Quarry remains subject to a Detailed Assessment for PM 10 . An Action Plan update for the Grangemouth AQMA is given. The Council continues to work on the measures outlined in the plan. In addition, a statement by INEOS about their tail gas treatment and other SO 2 emission reduction work is also included in this report. -

Camelon Co-operative Society Ltd CAMELON CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD Geoff B Bailey In the year 1857 twelve of the inhabitants of Camelon, having heard of the success of the new method of trading inaugurated by the Rochdale pioneers some eight years previously, held a meeting, and having agreed to subscribe £1 each as capital, formed themselves into the “Camelon Pioneer Industrial Society Limited” under the “Industrial and Provident Societies Act, 1850”. They rented a small shop (now demolished) on the south side of the Main Street at the corner of Deantree Terrace, and having stocked it with grocery goods as far as their limited capital would allow, opened three nights weekly, the Committee taking turns in manning the shop. The shop started business on 25 April 1858. The concept of people grouping together as a co-operative was seen as antagonistic to more open forms of commerce and some tradesmen tried to oppose it. It was probably for this reason that in August 1861 Donald McIntosh, a blacksmith at Port Downie, placed a public notice in the Falkirk Herald intimating that he had no further interest in Camelon Pioneers Industrial Society. The beginning was small, but the progress, if slow was sure. In a comparatively short time a large shop was rented and kept open for more days, and according to one history “females” were appointed to take charge of the business. Actually, it started in 1862 with a single saleswoman who seems to have been employed due to her low costs. That person was Ann Drummond, who the Falkirk Herald reported “despite youthful age” was a great asset and increased sales and membership dramatically due to her hard work.
