Ana Sokolović at the Quebec National Assembly

Madame Christine St-Pierre, minister of Culture, Communi- cations and Women’s Issues of Quebce, will present a motion of recognition to composer Ana Sokolovic at the Quebec National Assembly this coming April 17th.

Ana Sokolovic is being celebrated in the context of the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec’s (SMCQ) “Série Hommage”. The project in- cludes more than 100 concerts and events across Canada. After celebrating the work of Claude Vivier and Gilles Tremblay, this is the 3rd composer who the Quebec minister has recognized for their valuable contributions to our culture.

Want to submit to the next bulletin? Your input is crucial to the success of our efforts, so please let us know what is important to you: ideas or issues you would like to raise, things you would like to inform others about.

Submission Guidelines

 Please submit 1 month prior to bulletin release date

 For CNMN members only

 Photos are most welcome!

 If you are submitting an announcement, it needs to be news and content of a national scope and impact.

 We are also looking for submissions that communicate your opinions and ideas, submissions that start discussions about issues surrounding the CNMN or the new music community in Canada.

 Publish-ready quality (proofread, edit, spell check, etc.)

 Be brief, and at least no more than 200 words. If the nature of your submission requires more, make it an intro that refers the reader to where they can find the full info – ie. a web link. The cost of translation and administration mean that we can only accept short texts: remember, this is just a simple newsletter, not a magazine or journal.

 A format conducive to the bulletin. Bulletins are available online, have a look to see our formatting practices - http://www.newmusicnetwork.ca/org.e/bulletins.php

 English and/or French (we can do translation)

 Email as an attachment file (.doc or .txt)

 We reserve the right to edit content and refuse any submission
