She was baptized 6 Nov 1650 in Montréal. She died on 8 Jan 1699 and was buried in Trois-Rivières, Québec. The Burial Certificate No. 89562 does not contain her name. It lists Marie as "sauvagesse" - "a native woman or person of the woods". According to the Census 1681, Marie and her husband Pierre COUC were living in St-François-du-Lac. Mite8ameg8k8e translated in Abenaki as medawamegoakwi means swamp medicine, according to Elie Joubert. In the Marriage register (Laliberté and Mongeau) of the St-François-du-Lac parish (1687-1965), she is listed as Marie MITROUAMIGONOUR. She was a clan member of sachem Charles PACHINIRI of the Algonkin People. In some documents, she was also known as Mitcominqui. Marie MITE8AMEG8K8E was first married to ASSABABICH about 1645. Assababich was born around 1620. They had two children: Catherine, born in 1647 and baptized 1 Nov 1652 in Trois-Rivières.
