ID STALLION ASSESSMENT PROCESS STUDBOOK INSPECTION: Stallions must be a minimum of 3 years of age to be presented for the Irish Draught Horse Studbook inspections. Stallions undergo a veterinary examination (including X-Rays) and an assessment of their conformation, type, movement and athleticism using linear scoring. Movement is assessed both in hand and loose and athleticism is assessed by means of loose jumping. Older stallions can opt to have their athleticism assessed under saddle. Stallions that meet the veterinary and inspection requirements are classified as ‘Class 1’. OPTIONAL ATHLETICISM ASSESSMENT FOR BRONZE MERIT: The owners of ‘Class 1’ stallions aged 4 years and older can opt to have their stallion’s athleticism assessed by jumping a course of fences at 1.00m level under saddle. Stallions that achieve the minimum athleticism score are awarded a Bronze merit for their own performance in the discipline of show jumping. 4 IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE STUDBOOK STALLION MERIT CRITERIA Stallions that are classified as CLASS 1, RID[GB] and RID[CAN] in the Irish Draught Horse Studbook are eligible to be awarded additional merits (BRONZE, SILVER and GOLD), based on their performance and their progeny’s performance in a number of disciplines. Flood Analysis of the Clare River Catchment Considering Traditional Factors and Climate Change AUTHOR Pierce Faherty G00073632 A Thesis Submitted in Part Fulfilment for the Award of M.Sc. Environmental Systems, at the College of Engineering, Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, Ireland Submitted to the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, September 2010 .... ITUTE Of TECHNOLOGY DECLARATION OF ORIGINALITY September 2010 The substance of this thesis is the original work of the author and due reference and acknowledgement has been made, when necessary, to the work of others. No part of this thesis has been accepted for any degree and is not concurrently submitted for any other award. I declare that this thesis is my original work except where otherwise stated. Pierce Faherty Sean Moloney Date: 1 7 - 01" 10__ Abstract The main objective of this thesis on flooding was to produce a detailed report on flooding with specific reference to the Clare River catchment. Past flooding in the Clare River catchment was assessed with specific reference to the November 2009 flood event. A Geographic Information System was used to produce a graphical representation of the spatial distribution of the November 2009 flood. Flood risk is prominent within the Clare River catchment especially in the region of Claregalway. The recent flooding events of November 2009 produced significant fluvial flooding from the Clare River. This resulted in considerable flood damage to property. There were also hidden costs such as the economic impact of the closing of the N17 until floodwater subsided. Land use and channel conditions are traditional factors that have long been recognised for their effect on flooding processes.

II. : THE deiterol STUD BOOK, CONTAINING PEDIGREES OF RACE HORSES, &C. &-C. From the earliest Accounts to the Year 1831. inclusice. ITS FOUR VOLUMES. VOL. II. Brussels PRINTED FOR MELINE, CANS A.ND C"., EOILEVARD DE WATERLOO, Zi. M DCCC XXXIX. MR V. un:ve PREFACE TO THE FIRST EDITION. To assist in the detection of spurious and the correction of inaccu- rate pedigrees, is one of the purposes of the present publication, in which respect the first Volume has been of acknowledged utility. The two together, it is hoped, will form a comprehensive and tole- rably correct Register of Pedigrees. It will be observed that some of the Mares which appeared in the last Supplement (whereof this is a republication and continua- tion) stand as they did there, i. e. without any additions to their produce since 1813 or 1814. — It has been ascertained that several of them were about that time sold by public auction, and as all attempts to trace them have failed, the probability is that they have either been converted to some other use, or been sent abroad. If any proof were wanting of the superiority of the English breed of horses over that of every other country, it might be found in the avidity with which they are sought by Foreigners. The exportation of them to Russia, France, Germany, etc. for the last five years has been so considerable, as to render it an object of some importance in a commercial point of view.
