Karma Yoga…. attainment of moksha (liberation) through worldly toil For ordinary mortals karma yoga or diligent performance of worldly duties is outlined as a path leading towards deliverance of the soul. However, there are defined protocols governing Karma Yoga, for instance the performance of worldly duties without any sense of attachment and expectation of the fruits it may bear is imperative in this mode of sadhana. In Shrimad Bhagawa Gita, Lord Krishna thus explains the importance of karma yoga to Arjuna loke smin dvi-vidha nisòtòha pura prokta mayanagha jnana-yogena sankhyanamm karma-yogena yoginam The Lord expounds how one may attempt to realize the self. Some may adopt the path of philosophical speculation whereas some others may feel inclined towards adopting the path of devotional service. However, the Lord is unequivocal about the fact that none can abstain from work or karma. Through renunciation alone one cannot attain moksha. No human could possibly refrain from action or karma, rather is bound in an ongoing process of action and reaction. Further the Lord throws light on how a sincere and detached perfor- mance of karma, is a superior form of sadhana. yajnarthat karmanòo nyatra loko yamm karma-bandhanahò tad-arthamm karma kaunteya mukta-sangahò samachara The Lord explains how karma ought to be performed as a selfless service rendered towards Him, else the same may result in bondage or attachment to the material world. Therefore, the Lord advices Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra to perform his pre- scribed duties with no other intent but to appease Him. Such a mode of action would result in detachment from all concerns of failure and success and therefore rid the mind of all worldly engagements. The karma-yogi is different from the common men, who are also engaged in some or the other form of activity, in that the former’s attitude ( bhavana) towards work is charac- terized by a sense of detachment which enables him to maintain equanimity under all circumstances. The essence of the matter is that the karma-yogi, by surrendering the desire of fruit, attunes himself to a better performance of action or karma. The work in itself is more meaningful to him rather than the impending benefits that the same may or may not deliver. For a karma-yogi every action, big or small, becomes a noble, spiritual, consecrated act. In this form of sadhana one is able to raise above all desires and expectations and thus the soul is conditioned towards attainment of moksha. Like Arjuna in the battle field of Kurukshetra, ordinary mortals are often faced with dilemmas … often ambiguity about the path to be pursued overwhelms human beings, particularly when one is faced with paradoxical situations. When the mind is incapable of 79 Srinimbarkajyoti 9th Year Nimbarkabda 5110 April, 2015 User_1:\I\Pushpita\Nimbarka Jyoti_2015\Nimbarka Jyoti_2015_English.p65 # 80 adjudging the correct path to be followed, escapism from the impending situation is often the call that one takes. Much like Arjuna, who wanted to abandon the war of Kurukshetra in order to escape the moral dilemma he found himself in at the prospect of having to massacre his kith and kin to win the war. However, as the Lord Himself emphasizes, there could be no escape from karma, and that it is absolutely necessary for one to plunge into action with the cognizance that it is one’s bounden duty to

Understanding the Super Excellence of Gaudiya Vaishnavism Understanding the Super Excellence of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. So that is the theme, understanding the super excellence of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Srila Prabhupada ki jay! He was and he is Gaudiya Vaishnava, coming in the line of disciplic succession and we are getting connected. So we are making this presentation, I won’t say this is complete presentation but some introductory presentation to make the point that Gaudiya Vaishnavism is super excellent like, mattah parataram nanyat kincid asti dhananjaya mayi sarvam idam protam sutre mani-gana iva [Bg 7.7] Translation: O conqueror of wealth [Arjuna], there is no Truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread. Krishna said no one is equal to me and no one is superior to me. So Krishna is super excellent personality of godhead. So like that there are different features of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, so we have picked up a few items which are listed here. Achintya-Bheda-Abheda tattva or philosophy or the commentary on vedanta sutra is of Gaudiya Vaishnavas is super excellent, so that one. And Gaudiya sampradaya is super excellent and raganuga sadhana bhakti. And Goloka dhama, amongst all the dhamas and there are many of them, is the topmost realm, super excellent and that is Gaudiya Vaishnavas preference, they don’t settle on any other level they go all the way to the top, topmost abode, super excellent abode Goloka. Mellows of bhakti, Gaudiya Vaishnavas only settle for the topmost rasa, madhurya rasa. That is what Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu relished and shared.

Journal of Xi'an University of Architecture & Technology ISSN No : 1006-7930 A CRITICAL REVIEW OF SAINT MADHAVADEVA’S NAM-GHOSA Bhupen Gogoi Reseach Scholar, Dept. of M.I.L. & L.S., Gauhati University, Assam. India, 781014 Abstract : Nam-Ghosa is the best writing by Madhavadeva. It contains thousand (according to some books of collections thousand and one) verses. Nam-Ghosa has made a remarkable contribution in the context of propagation and spreading of the New Vaishnavism or Ek Sarana Nam Dharma. Nam-Ghosa can be divided into three parts as the gospel of Nam-Dharma or the New Vaishnavism, poetic expression of detached devotional feelings and the appreciation of the qualities of Lord Vishnu and his various names. Madhavadeva got true savour of devotion by the grace of his preceptor Sankardeva. Madhavadeva has offered his honour and devote to Sankardeva for several times in Nam-Ghosa. In this book Madhavadeva has suggested easy way to offer devotion to Lord Krishna or Vishnu. The main philosophy of Nam-Ghosa is based on Vedanta Philosophy. According to Nam-Ghosa people should be devoted to Lord Krishna only when he can be able to come out from selfishness and after that he can be able to reach Krishna Dham - the final destination of a soul. Key words : Madhavadeva, Nam-Ghosa, Devotion, Guru, God, Philosophy. INTRODUCTION : Madhavadeva was an ardent disciple of his preceptor Sankardeva. VARGHESE 2013 ABSTRACT THE METAPHYSICS OF DIVERSITY AND AUTHENTICITY: A COMPARATIVE READING OF TAYLOR AND GANDHI ON HOLISTIC IDENTITY By Joshy P. Varghese Director: Prof. Jeffrey Bloechl The human self and society in general have always been in transition and transformation. Our senses of ourselves and of our society are in dialectical relation with our sense of whether or to what degree we feel part of important dimensions such as religion and politics, which are both an expression of our identity and factors that may sometimes change our identity. In modern western society it seems that identity has shifted from what Charles Taylor calls “embeddedness” in religion to a mode of life where religion is, to a great extent, expected to be a personal matter and even a personal choice. This is not impossible to understand, and historical work shows us that there are important continuities between the modern reason that rejects religion and the religion that it rejects.

All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga. February 5, 2007 (in India) is the divine appearance day of Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja. It is now being sent out to you for the first time:] Today is the disappearance day (tirobhava-tithi) o f our Gurudeva, nitya-lila pravista Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja. Where was I? I was born in the place of the demon Jarasandha [*See Endnote 1]. By the infinite mercy of my Guru-maharaja, he attracted this unqualified person and gave me a place at his lotus feet. By his mercy he made me qualified to understand the mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and to preach it all around the wo r ld. I had the good fortune to be able to perform his s er vic e without any duplicity. Once, the persona l s ervant of my Gurudeva named Ananga-mo ha na prabhu was afflicted with tuberculosis. At that time I approached my Gurudeva and said, “You go and preach. I will take the responsibility to look after Ananga-mo ha na prabhu. ” Years later, Srila Trivikrama Maharaja told me, “The reason you are preaching so successfully all around the world is because you gave your life for the service of the servant of your Gurudeva.
