Community Living Victoria presents at Cinecenta on October 5th at 7 pm!

Spirit Unforgettable is the powerful, devastating and inspiring story of the iconic Canadian rock band Spirit of the West, and their charismatic frontman who, in 2014, at the age of 51, was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. CLV has a personal connection with the band and also a connection to the reality of Alzheimer's and Dementia for the individuals we serve. Proceeds from this screening will go to CLV to support those individuals.

CLV Community-based Social Groups for 2017/2018

CLV Autism Services has announced its community-based Social Groups for 2017-18. They will run from September 13, 2017 to June 15, 2018, after school or in the evening, in Sidney, Victoria and at Tillicum. The fee for each location varies, but they are equivalent to $30 per hour. Optional transportation is available at $1 per km.

These dynamic Groups focus on:

« Physical Activity « Friendships « Communication and Social Skills « Being adventurous and trying new things!

In all Groups, participants will have the support of a team of experienced Behavior Interventionists, in a maximum ratio of three participants to one Interventionist at all times. Activities will allow the individuals to work on their social skills, both in-house and in the community. Every attempt will be made to ensure that everyone benefits from a fun and educational experience with CLV. Autism Services can also assist with all administration related to Ministry of Children and Family Development's Autism Funding.

Other Community Events & Programs

Challenger Baseball is coming to Gordon Head in the Fall! Challenger Baseball gives children (ages 4-18) with cognitive or physical disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of playing baseball, being part of a team, developing physical and social skill plus all the benefits of participation in baseball at a level structured to their abilities. We now offer 1 hour private lessons, once a week, for 12 week sessions. Our goal is to promote emotional healing and growth through self-esteem and self- awareness, which can be developed through many of their activities. Wheel Power offers a sliding scale to families. Making the world a better place through music: Inclusion BC hosts Korean ensemble in first Canadian tour!

September 13, 7:30 PM: Alix Goolden Hall, 907 Pandora Ave, Victoria, BC

String Ensemble Angelorum is a performing orchestra from South Korea that includes young musicians with and without special needs.

It is guided by a simple but noble mission: to make the world a better place through music. Since 2015, this group has inspired and entertained thousands, playing to sold out shows across South Korea. Now, its first international tour is generating excitement in , where Inclusion BC is hosting concerts in Richmond and Victoria in September.
