HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IMPORTATION OF CAMELIDAE FROM THE UNITED STATES INTO INDONESIA

(Empowered law No. 6, 1987, law No. 16, 1992, regulations No. 15, 1977, Decree Minister of Agriculture No. 422, 1988)

I. CERTIFICATE OF HEALTH

The importation of Camelidae shall be accompanied by health certificate issued by an Authorized Government Veterinarian of exporting country certifying that:

1. The come from the country of origin that was declared free from foot and mouth disease (FMD), rinderpest and Rift Valley .

2. The country has been free from surra for at least two (2) years prior to export.

3. The animals were kept in a zoo/property where no case of the following diseases were officially reported during 12 (twelve) months prior to export: rabies, camel pox, contagious , herpes, bluetongue, African Horse Sickness, BVD, IBR, , Influenza A and B, pseudotuberculosis paratuberculosis, botulism, blackleg, tetanus, other clostridial , hemorrhagic septicemia, pasteurellosis, , tuberculosis, collbacillosis, and

4. The animals have showed no clinical signs for at least 6 months prior to shipping from the following diseases such as anthrax, Johne’s disease, aujezkys disease, contagious pustular dermatitis, and Actinomycosis.

5. The animals must be tests with negative result of tuberculosis and brucellosis at the accredited laboratory in the country of origin 30 days before shipment.

6. The animals were vaccinated with 5 in 1 vaccine against clostridial diseases within 30 (thirty) days prior to shipment and not less than 7 days prior to shipment.

7. The animals were continuously resident in the country of origin or were kept in a zoo/property for at least six (6) months or since birth if less than six months of age, prior to export.

8. The animals were dipped or sprayed with a systemic insecticide at least twice, with an interval of 10 – 14 days and with the second treatment being within 2 days prior to the scheduled date of shipment. The animals are free from any clinical evidence of ticks at the time of loading.

9. The animals have been treated for endo-parasites at least two days prior to shipment.

10. During pre-export isolation any wound on the animals were prophylactically treated with a registered larvacide at the recommended dose.

11. The animals were examined within 3 (three) days prior to travel and showed no clinical signs of infectious and contagious diseases, and were visibly free from external parasites and were fit to travel.

II. TRANSPORTATION

1. The vessel being used for carrying those animals shall be in clean condition.

2. The journey from exporting port in country of origin up to the port of destination in Indonesia shall take direct route with no intermediate stop at any port except approved by DGLS.

3. The vessel is not allowed to carry other animals other than the approved animals. Exception is permissible with the DGLS approval.

III. QUARANTINE MEASURES IN INDONESIA

On arrival at port of destination, all consignments of Camelidae must comply with the prevailed quarantine regulation.
