Cities of Love™ started as a series of unconventional motion pictures illustrating the universality of love in major cities around the world. Each film is a collective feature film including no less than 10 short film segments directed by 10 different established world directors. Each segment tells a contemporary love story set in a specific neighborhood of the city. Following the success of Paris, je t’aime™ and New York, I Love You™, Cities of Love™ became a franchise and started selling licenses around the world to producers eager to produce their City, I Love You movie. With the first licenseRio, I Love You™, we built an online cultural Movement showcasing the city with the support of its artists, creators, communities, celebrities, and this initiative successfully allowed us to finance the film that will be completed in Spring 2014. Thanks to numerous actions and events, the Rio, I Love You™ Movement made people proud of their city and had a real impact on their lives: through visuals arts and social media, the Movement tells the story of the city’s inhabitants with a positive community-driven perspective. Hope and love are the true engines of these social enterprises encouraging active citizenship. The Taipei, I Love You™ Movement will be developped in Chinese and English to optimize its local and global impact. The 130th anniversary of Taipei creates the perfect timing to develop an international fan base for such a Movement; it will showcase the city beautifully as a place of creativity and culture differing from its productivist past, and will open a new post-industrial era focused on cultural diversity, creative economy, education, quality of life and sustainable development. With a multi-cultural team of 7 highly skilled professionals, partners such as the Our Taipei Friends, PricewaterhouseCoopers, TEDx and DO!T Taipei, with experts dedicated to digital marketing, content creation and value-driven sponsoring, with the support of the right Advisory More than ever, it is time to say Taipei, I Love You™, particularly since 2014 marks the 130th Committee, the Taipei, I Love You™ Movement will pave the way to an international feature film anniversary of the city, and the presence in town of the Asia Pacific Cities’ Summit. In many aspects, the Taipei, I Love You™ Movement will support the emergence of young talent, from photographic to script-writing contests, from dance competitions to music events, from technological innovators to filmmakers,... Showcasing, training and empowering will be at the core of Cities of Love’s educational approach. For the production of the film the Taipei, I Love You™, we will set up a Mentorship Program, to source and select 10 young aspiring Taiwanese filmmakers; attached to a segment’s veteran director, their mentor, each apprentice will follow the creative process of a segment from start to completion. Apprentices will be originally from Taiwan, and the selection process will involve local schools and institutions. Each Apprentice will be allowed to take photographs and have the duty to hold a blog and share diligently his experience and learning on a daily basis: the Apprentice will write the creative diary of his Mentor; and this content will become both promotional and educational, since it will build up as a valuable library of testimonies related to the Format. Later on, apprentices will direct their own Cities of Love™ short-film in Taipei. In the end, the apprentice will: 1) be trained by a master; 2) get his 1st paid job as a director; 3) work with a professional crew; 4) be contacted at a moment in their life when directors have typically been ignored; 5) be programmed in international film festivals when their short is well rated by followers. Our intention is to build a sustainable system to keep developing quality content for the city, and sustaining the growth of our cultural movement. We will keep working with our local partner, local institutions (city, schools, universities), local sponsors to produce similar Yearly Short- Film Programs... year after year. Thus, we have a business model to produce short-films in mass, which is unique, and illustrating the city through story telling in the long-term.
