New records of malagana from S. Spain ( : Cochlicopidae)

Our knowledge concerning the distribution of Hypnophila malagana Gittenberger, 1983, is

summarized.

Meanwhile the species has become known from five additional provinces, which implies a considerableextension of its known The records listed below. Material of all these range. new are recently

discovered localities could be studied by the present author. It turned out that the original description should be emended only with respect to the dimensions of the shell

(height 4.8 to 6.2 mm; width 1.9 to 2.25 mm). Apparently, H. malagana is rather uniform conchologically. Some of the new records have been published already by

Escola & Bech (1986: 89).

collection the number of specimens is indicated. Records the km Cadiz: Molinos (with 1 or 10 km UTM-grid code). —Spain. Arroyo near Zahara, TF8878 (MZB/1). Castellon: Serra d'En Galceran, Cova Santa,

YK5567 (MZB/3). Granada: 28 km ESE of Cazorla in the Parque Natural de las Sier- ras de Cazorla the Embalse del Tranco de Beas, WG28 y Segura, along (RMNH/3).

Jaen, 7 km SSE of Cazorla near the spring of the Guadalquivir, WG08 (RMNH/1).

Valencia: Serra de Porta-Coeli, Avenc Garbf, YJ1290 (MZB/1).

The species was originally described from the province of Malaga only: UF15, 34,

48 & 65 (Gittenberger, 1983: 306).
