CHAMPIONNAT Du MONDE De MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONNAT 9È 6 Du MONDE De MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONNAT CHAMPIONNAT du MONDE de MOTOCROSS 125 12 GP Faits marquants : 1e EVERTS écrasant de supériorité. Une domination surprenante. En descendant en 125 et en quittant Bultaco pour Suzuki, Harry EVERTS ne s'attendait pas à remporter aussi facilement un second titre de Champion du Monde ! … après celui obtenu en 1975 sur une 250 Puch ! Mais les chiffres parlent d'eux-même : 18 manches remportées et 9 victoires de GP sur 12 ! 1e Les réussites : Akira WATANABE, Champion 125 sortant n'a pu grappiller qu'un seul GP, et pourtant il s'est révélé omniprésent à contrer EVERTS avec 13 secondes places en manche. Harry Gaston RAHIER et Mark BARNETT, tous les 2 sur Yamaha n'ont gagné qu' 1 GP. On notera aussi la domination sans partage des pilotes US, Mark BARNETT et EVERTS Broc GLOVER, lors du GP des Etats-Unis à Lexington. Belgique Les déceptions : Troisième au final et premier pilote non-Suzuki, Gaston RAHIER n'a jamais, hélas, représenté un réel danger pour le duo de tête. Une 2è Suz 3è seule victoire et une dizaine de troisièmes places ont consacré le déclin du triple Champion du Monde. A sa décharge, sa Yamaha ne possédait ni la puissance, ni la fiabilité (5 Akira Gaston abandons) de la Suzuki.
