He has received numerous awards and is re- garded as one of the finest jazz drummers on the continent, and for many decades he DKK 320 has been playing with the best of best. But he has several other careers to his credit: He is a very succesful abstract painter, and some of his paintings can be seen at Muse- SATURDAY um of Modern Art in Paris. FATHER AND SON TUESDAY BO STIEF & BOBO MORENO WITH Dec 28 OLE KOCK HANSEN 20.00 (8pm) DKK 285 Bo Stief (bass / DK), Bobo Moreno (vocal / DK), Ole Kock Hansen (piano / DK) One of the most significant legends of Montmartre’s first era (1959-1976) is the great bassist Bo Stief. In fact he is, statistically speaking, still the musician who has played the highest number of performances here. Tonight he guests us once again, this time with his stepson, the incredible Bobo Moreno, who has built a name for himself as one of Denmark’s most admired and respected vocalists and who besides the family tie also shares a close life long musical relationship with his stepfather. Together they are joined by another Montmar- tre veteran, the amazing pianist Ole Kock Hansen. The trio recently released a new album entitled “50 Ways” which contains a collection of their favorite songs, which we will hear them perform live at Montmartre tonight. Not to be missed! DOKY BROTHERS REUNION – ONE NIGHT ONLY! WEDNESDAY NIELS LAN DOKY & CHRIS MINH Dec 29 DOKY WITH ALEX RIEL 20.00 (8pm) DKK 420 Niels Lan Doky (piano / DK), Chris Minh Doky (bass / DK), Alex Riel (drums / DK) In the mid-nineties, pianist Niels Lan Doky and his brother bassist Chris Minh Doky released two albums as the “Doky Brothers” on the legendary Blue Note label. Both albums sold Gold and are among the most successful jazz albums to ever come out of Denmark. The Doky Brothers disbanded in 1998 and both brothers went on to create extremely impres- sive, prolific and enduring individual solo careers. The brothers reunited briefly for the first time in 10 years, in the summer of 2008, at a sold out show in Tivoli’s Glassalen, where they were both given the Ben Webster Award. This Christmas, the brothers finally reunite once again, for their first public performance since their 2008 Tivoli show. They are joined by their long time friend and legendary Montmartre drummer, the great Alex Riel. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear three of Denmark’s most significant musical icons together on the same stage. BROTHER AND SISTER THURSDAY MALENE MORTENSEN & CARL Dec 30 WINTHER WITH JESPER LUNDGAARD 20.00 (8pm) DKK 250 Malene Mortensen (vocal / DK), Carl Winther (piano / DK), Jesper Lundgaard (bass / DK) Young Malene Mortensen is undoubtedly one of the most talented and exciting voca- lists to emerge out of Denmark in recent decades. Her 2004 debut album “Paradise” featured Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Alex Riel and Niels Lan Doky and sparked cri- tical acclaim and placed her on the jazz map. She has since released other successful albums (“Date With A Dream”, “Malene”, ie.) and has toured in many countries, espe- cially in France where she has topped the charts of best selling jazz artists. Joining her for this gig at Montmartre is her younger half brother Carl Winther, the incredibly gif- ted young pianist whom we became acquainted with when he accompanied the Ame- rican saxophone star Bill Evans for 6 sold out nights here at the Montmartre this past Summer. To round up this trio, Malene and Carl are joined by one of Denmark’s great veteran bass virtuosos, the ultra-prolific and absolutely amazing Jesper Lundgaard. • Radio Bevort with Francesco Cali Eng
RADIO BÉVORT with Francesco Cali The RADIO BÉVORT with Francesco Cali is a colour full ensemble where different nationalities, inspirations and instruments meet. The compositions are inspired by diverse genres of music and indeed by life itself. In the music you can feel the flavour of tango and jazz and even hear some pop-inspirations. The band’s line-up is rather unconventional with a rhythm section of drums, bass and accordion/piano combined with 3 woodwinds and on top of that a vocalist who also plays the saxophone. This combined with the different compositions and arrangements composed especially for this production, gives the ensemble a special sound with a timbre coloured by the woodwind arrangements and the accordion/piano. In the line-up you find some of the best musicians on the Danish jazz scene of today combined with the Italian musician and composer Francesco Cali. A new double CD was released in June 2011: RADIO BÉVORT with Marcelo Nisinman. Gateway Music. ( BEVORTCD0102 ) On this CD Pernille presents the argentinian bandoneon player Marcelo Nisinman as a featured guest in her band. Here are a few quotes from a couple of the very positive reviews: ”Bévort and Nisinman's accomplishment is to merge tango and jazz in passionate embrace to the point where the seam fails to show. On Perfect Organization it sounds as if the two idioms were always meant for each other. What is perfect? Arguably nothing, but this is as close as it gets” . By Ian Patterson.
Se mere i budgettet. Vi glæder

  • Bévort 3 Feat. Mads Kjølby on Guitar
Photo by: Nanja Pontoppidan Bévort 3 feat. Mads Kjølby on guitar “Trio Temptations”, Gateway Music January 2014. Pernille Bévort: Tenor- and soprano saxophone; Mads Kjølby: guitar; Morten Ankarfeldt: Bass; Espen Laub von Lillienskjold: Drums A lot of the great tenor players have made the trio format a classic within jazz: Sonny Rollins, Joe Lovano and Joe Henderson, just to mention a few. It’s always a great challenge to perform with no chord instrument in the line-up, since the musicians can imply the chords in their playing in many ways and they need to communicate very carefully with each other. This very open format also gives the musicians a lot of possibilities to interpret and to change direction in the music, together and with short notice. This makes it a very fun “playground” to work within, and it is also interesting for the listener to follow the ride. “Trio Temptations” is the first Cd released with this Danish trio and it documents the work of 3 experienced jazz musicians. One can hear the close communication and the joyful, energetic collaboration between the 3 performers. They play with energy and curiosity - always ready to take a chance. On several occasions they have invited the wonderful guitar player Mads Kjølby as featured guest. This adds even more colours to the music. Band leader and saxophonist Pernille Bévort is an experienced musician on the Danish jazz scene. Apart from working with small ensembles, Bévort has performed with several professional Big Bands in Denmark during the last decade: The Ernie Wilkins Almost Big Band, The Danish Radio Big Band and the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra (Klüver’s Big Band) among others.

John Sund was born in Copenhagen on the 6th of January 1957. He is a self-taught guitarist and composer.
