Bhattacharyya Award

The Lord Bhattacharyya HE Bursary Scheme supports A-level and BTEC/OCR students from eligible program schools, colleges and academies who wish to study engineering at degree level, including degree courses with an integrated foundation year, in universities across the UK. Students from low- income households and those who are under-represented in the engineering sector can apply for a £15,000 bursary to support their study at any UK university

Eligibility

The scheme is only open to eligible students from the following Lord Bhattacharyya Engineering Education Program schools, colleges and academies across the West Midlands:

Ash Green School, Bluecoat CofE School and Music College, Coventry Colmers School and Sixth Form College, Birmingham Ernesford Grange Community , Coventry , Nicholas Chamberlaine School, North and South Leicestershire College Rugby College, Warwickshire Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, Birmingham Sidney Stringer Academy, Coventry Solihull College, Solihull South and City College Birmingham , Coventry WMG Academy for Young Engineers, Coventry WMG Academy for Young Engineers, Solihull

You will need to be a resident of the UK, eligible to pay UK home fees at university and intend to begin an engineering degree course, including those with an integrated foundation year, at a UK university starting in September/October 2021. You must also be able to answer ‘yes’ to one, or both, of the following:

I have been continuously eligible for free school meals since the start of my post-16 studies. At least one of my parents/guardians is in receipt of state benefits

Benefits

Bursaries worth £15,000: (£5,000 each year for three years. If you are taking an integrated foundation year as part of your course, your bursary will be paid in years one, two and three of your studies)
