The 5th ASIA Congress Welcome to the 5th ASIA Congress Sports managers, practitioners and researchers from Asia and around the world, we welcome you all to join the 5th ASIA Congress (Virtual). The Association of Sports Institutes in Asia (ASIA) was established in 2015 by four institutes: the Aspire Academy in Qatar, the Hong Kong Sports Institute, the Singapore Sport Institute and the Japan Sport Council. Now we have 16 institutes from 13 different countries and regions in Asia. We have developed ASIA as a platform that embraces the diversity among Asian countries, respects and supports each organization’s ambition for further development of Asian sports. This year’s annual congress will be held virtually for the first time in our history due to the COVID-19 situation. I would like to express my appreciation to all ASIA members to make this year’s congress possible. Through this crisis, we not only see challenges but also opportunities. And the network through ASIA has played a significant role in facilitating close communication and information sharing to keep sports moving forward in Asia. It also has highlighted how sport can contribute to making a better society and individual life. In this summit, we are highlighting the new-norm in high-performance sports and the role of high-performance sports for the society in the post corona world. The Congress will provide insights into the experiences and challenges in sports that Institutes in Asia have experienced with the Covid-19 situation. I hope that the 5th ASIA Congress will be great opportunity to connect and unite us. We look forward to seeing you all there.
