Policy The Group Universal program is designed to provide income security for employees’ beneficiaries in the event of the employee’s death or a dependent’s death.

Eligibility for Group Universal Life Insurance Regular Full-Time Employees, Regular Part-Time Employees and Temporary Employees with benefits who work 20 hours or .5 FTE per week for (6) six months or more are eligible to obtain universal life insurance.

Group Universal Life Insurance All eligible employees have the option to purchase Group Universal Life Insurance for themselves or other family and household members.

Application for Coverage There may be deadlines or waiting periods to obtain coverage depending on the employee’s situation. New employees should contact the Association Human Resources Representative to begin the application process as soon as possible. In addition, current employees wishing to make changes to their existing policies should contact HR Services and Transitions Center (HRSTC).

Coverage Options and Premium Payment Coverage options should be reviewed with the Association Human Resources Representative. The cost for life insurance and available benefits varies by option and coverage chosen. New York State Employees’ Retirement System Death Benefit Employees who are members of the New York State Employees’ Retirement System (NYSERS) may receive a death benefit if they pass away while in active service. This benefit is paid as a group coverage through the Retirement System. Note: enrollment/changes to
