BOX OFFICE 01732 866114 www.heverfestival.co.uk PLAYS Ticket Price: Sat - £18; Midweek - £16; Matinee - £14 Performances start at 8:00pm; Gates open at 6:30pm The KENT REP Production of Time and Time Again By Alan Ayckbourn Thurs 18th - Sun 21st August Matinee Performance at 2.30pm on Friday 19th August Kent Rep’s 2016 Hever production is vintage Ayckbourn and surely, one of his funniest. The action centres round ex- teacher Leonard, who despises the suburban life style of his sister and boorish brother-in-law with whom he has lived since he was locked out by his wife. Another of Leonard’s problems is that he finds it difficult to communicate with so called ‘normal’’ people. As a result, poetry quoting Leonard prefers to chat to Bernard, the garden gnome! When brother-in-law, Graham, brings home his employee, sports-mad Peter, and his attractive fiancée, Joan, who has attracted Graham’s own lecherous interest, it is ‘odd-ball’ Leonard to whom she takes a fancy. From that point “...it was a great show onwards, there ensues an hilarious sequence of incidents (by Kent Rep) that embrace all sorts of sporting and leisure activity such as we loved it...” cricket, football - even draughts. And not forgetting Leonard’s latest wheeze - Pond Dancing! Altogether, a wonderfully inventive and Bromley Little Theatre presents thought provoking comedy. Brilliant! One Man, Two Guvnors By Richard Bean Thurs 28th - Sat 30th July Matinee Performance at 2.30pm on Friday 29th July Following the success of Anne Boleyn (2014) and The Pitman Painters (2015), Bromley Little Theatre return to the Festival Theatre with their adaptation of the National Theatre’s internationally acclaimed smash- hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors. Richard Bean’s version of Carlo Goldoni’s classic Italian comedy, The Servant of Two Masters , follows the hilarious ups and downs of Frances and his desperate attempts to keep his ‘two guvnors’ apart, it is a glorious celebration of British comedy – a unique, laugh-out-loud mix of satire, songs, slapstick and glittering one-liners.

  • CISAC Pays Tribute to Its President Robin Gibb, the Voice of a Generation and Relentless Champion for the Rights of Creators
CISAC pays tribute to its President Robin Gibb, the voice of a generation and relentless champion for the rights of creators CISAC, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers, has expressed its deep sadness at the news that its President, British singer and songwriter Robin Gibb, has passed away. PARIS – 21/05/2012 – Robin Gibb died in the night of Sunday 20 May 2012, at the age of 62, after fighting a long-term illness. Alongside his brothers Barry and Maurice, performing as The Bee Gees, he was part of one of the most successful songwriting teams in the history of pop music. As President of CISAC for the past five years, Robin Gibb was also the tireless voice of three million creators around the world as the leader of the members of CISAC’s 232 authors’ societies in 121 countries. He enthusiastically used his position as President of the organisation and as one of the world’s most popular songwriters to persuade global policy makers to support creators and promote and uphold the value of copyright. Following a first term as president, Gibb was unanimously re-elected for an additional three- year mandate in June 2010. At the time, Gibb said, “The presidency of CISAC is a role that means a great deal to me because, as a songwriter, I am a passionate believer in the collective management of rights by authors' societies. While the entire entertainment sector is at a crossroads, I want to leverage this new mandate to help develop a management rights system that is sustainable in the digital age, a system that meets public demand for easy access to all our works while preserving the rights and interests of everyone, including fair payment for creators to use their works." Paying tribute to Gibb, French painter and CISAC Vice-President Hervé Di Rosa said, “The spirit of Robin Gibb’s commitment and passion towards the authors’ cause will stay alive in us all.

  • Summach, the Structure, Function, and Genesis of the Prechorus
Volume 17, Number 3, October 2011 Copyright © 2011 Society for Music Theory The Structure, Function, and Genesis of the Prechorus (1) Jay Summach NOTE: The examples for the (text-only) PDF version of this item are available online at: http://www.mtosmt.org/issues/mto.11.17.3/mto.11.17.3.summach.php KEYWORDS: popular music, rock music, form, prechorus, sentence, srdc ABSTRACT: Prechoruses emerged in the mid-1960s as verse-chorus and strophic forms converged upon a four-part formal disposition that Everett (1999) calls “statement, restatement, departure, and conclusion,” or srdc. This study traces the expansion of the srdc scheme from its compact deployment in strophes to expanded iterations that approximate verse- chorus form. Received February 2011 [1] This article examines an episode in the evolution of verse-chorus form in pop/rock music. Until the mid-1960s, most verse-chorus songs alternated between the two formal sections from which verse-chorus form takes its name: verses and choruses. Example 1, Mark Dinning’s “Teen Angel,” illustrates the form.(2) As is typical for verse-chorus songs, the focal point of “Teen Angel” is the chorus: it contains the most engaging musical material; its unchanging lyric makes it easy to remember; and it is marked for special attention by additional vocal and instrumental parts. The verses, on the other hand, provide context: each verse advances the song narrative by presenting fresh lyrics; and the music is more modest in instrumentation and intensity so as not to steal attention from the chorus. In “Teen Angel,” the tempo is treated flexibly during the verses, which further distinguishes them from the choruses.

  • Core Strategy Vision and Objectives
    1. Introduction Your chance to help shape the future of Bromley We would like you to help us develop the long-term planning strategy for the London Borough of Bromley. This strategy needs to show roughly where any new development should go and, how much development there should be, over the next 20 years. We are starting with what is known as the “Core Strategy” - the top-level document where we set the general direction for the future of the borough - but once this is prepared we will produce other documents with policies to guide the detail of any development. So, is this the “Core Strategy”? No, this is just the first step towards a Core Strategy. This document presents a wide range of information about the Borough and its places and suggests some of the key issues for the future. We are asking everyone with an interest in Bromley to tell us what they think about the issues we have identified – are they the right issues? Are there any more issues that our planning strategy needs to consider? Once we have agreed on the main issues, it’s time to look at the ways of tackling them – again, we’ll be asking for everyone to get involved by telling us what they think and whether anything has been missed. After this we’ll be able to produce a draft Core Strategy which will contain policies that can be used to guide development – this is the document that will be submitted to the Government for checking. Overall, this process will take about two years.
