Landslide in Badung (Bali) and Kuningan (West ) province

SITREP # 1: 05 June 2012 at 12.00 PM local time (UCT+7)

HIGH LIGHTS  On Friday, 1 June 2012 at 10.30 AM Western Indonesian Time (UCT+7), landslide occured in 2 villages in 2 sub-districts: Mandirancan (Purbasari and Seda villages) and Karangkancana subdistict (Banjaran and Jabranti vilalges), Kuningan district, province  On Wednesday, 30 May 2012 at 19.35 PM Central Indonesian Time (UCT+8) , landslide also occured in Banjar Angantiga, Petang village, Badung, Bali province;  The incident was caused heavy rainfalls;  As per 2 June 2012 at 11.00 AM Western Indonesian Time (UCT+7), Centre for Health Crisis (CHC), Ministry of Health (MoH) reported the death of 4 persons, major injury of 3 persons and 15 persons rendered as temporary IDPs;  Kuningan DHO has evacuated the victims, provided medical services in Kuningan district and mobile puskesmas;  Badung DHO has evacuated the victims and provided medical services in Kapal Badung hospital;  Kuningan DHO, Badung DHO, West Java PHO, Bali PHO, Bali regional center for health crisis and Center for Health Crisis MOH are monitoring the situation closely.

Situation Analysis

 The landslide in Badung, Bali was as the impact of soil excavation causing a steep slope and the avalanches buried the five labors passing by the location.  The landslide in Kuningan, West Java was caused by heavy rainfall.

Response

Local Government  Kuningan DHO has evacuated the victims, provided medical services in Kuningan district and mobile puskesmas.

 Badung DHO has evacuated the victims and provided medical services in Kapal Badung hospital.

Center for Health Crisis, Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia  Kuningan DHO, Badung DHO, West Java PHO, Bali PHO, Bali regional center for health crisis and Center for Health Crisis MOH are monitoring the situation closely.

WHO, Republic of Indonesia  WHO is in close contact with MoH to provide any assistance needed.
