The companies have global operations, and sport plays a major role. And now joining the long list of projects is yet another highly prestigious one: For the Deutsches Haus / Deutsches Haus Paralympics in Pyeongchang in 2018 and Tokyo in 2020, PROPROJEKT and AS+P are to take on key architecture and project management assignments and advance the concept of the Deutsches Haus platform. PROPROJEKT and AS+P have reached agreement on this with Deutsche Sport Marketing (DSM), which as the marketing agency of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the National Paralympics Committee Germany (DBS) organi- zes and runs the Deutsches Haus at the Games. upper row f.l.: David Meiworm (physiotherapist of the paralympic national team ski nordic), Friedbert Greif (AS+P), Phillip Michler (PROPRO- JEKT), Thomas Dieckhoff (Deutsche Sport Marketing), Ralf Rombach (national coach paralympic national team ski nordic) lower row f.l.: Martin Fleig, Andrea Eskau, Anja Wicker (paralympic athletes) // The Birch Hill Club will in 2018 be the `Deutsche Haus´ / `Deutsche Haus Paralympics´ An initial joint visit to the venue in Pyeongchang from March 12 to 16, about a year before the opening of the Olympic Games and subsequent Paralympic Games, marked the beginning of the cooperation. The two companies also helped formulate the German bids for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Leipzig in 2012, Munich in 2018, and Hamburg in 2024, as well as the on-going feasibility study for a possible bid by Innsbruck in Austria for 2026. Most recently they were entrusted with client representation during construction of the new DOSB offices. “We are delighted that we have also been able to win the servi- ces of PROPROJEKT and AS+P as a Deutsches Haus Strategic Partner. The experience and expertise PROPROJEKT and AS+P have gained from numerous successful projects at national and in-ternational level in and outside sport are certain to be beneficial to us,” DOSB President Alfons Hörmann said. “To a large extent the enjoyment of sport defines our entire life. It is extremely important to us and our colleagues at PROPROJEKT to give back in gratitude, via our efforts on behalf of the German Olympic and Paralympic teams, just a little of what, with its athletes, sport has on many occasions given us,” commented Friedbert Greif, Managing Partner at AS+P. The geographic proximity to the sporting events is the great advantage of the Deutsches Haus in Pye- ongchang in 2018, which will be located at Birch Hill Golf Club in Yongpyong Resort. With lifts, cross- country skiing trails and apartment buildings this recreational facility was built in 1975 and is located 200 kilometers from the South Korean capital at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. The Alpensia Jumping Park, the venue for the 2018 Winter Games, is within viewing distance from the DOSB base. The distance to the Olympic Village and the Alpensia Resort, with the biathlon, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined and bobsleigh venues is even shorter. The same applies to the Olympic Plaza, where the opening and closing ceremonies will take place. The short distances between the Deutsches Haus, the sporting venues and the Olympic Village are intended to engender an emotional bond, something DSM Managing Director Thomas Dieckhoff also hopes will be the case: “We would like the Deutsches Haus to be not just some-where the athletes and their guests can celebrate, chat and relax, but also the flagship of the German sports family and its business partners at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In this context we will advance the concept for Pyeongchang and beyond – as a communication plat-form that is based on the needs of its guests, but also offers attractive content for the fans at home. In this respect the experience, expertise and network of PROPROJEKT and AS+P are sure to help when taking the next step with the Deutsches Haus.” Of that Phillip Michler from PROPROJEKT is also con-vinced: “We have a highly promising framework which in the interest of the German sports family we are going to develop together with DSM and the other project partners. For now, it’s a case of getting to work.” Further informations: Vera Deus, Katja Krauß / 069-605011-188, -190 / [email protected] Would you like to be regularly informed about what is going on at AS+P?
