A number of residents of Doha, including a 52-year-old woman identified as Amal Abdullah Saad, were reportedly detained after Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) stormed the village. Clashes broke out between local youth and Israeli soldiers. Israeli forces used live fire to disperse protesters, and several were injured. A fire erupted at the home of Muhammad Khaleel As Subani in the village after Israeli occupation Army (IOA) fired a sound bomb at it during the clashes. The IOA also surrounded a home owned by Saed family in the village, detonated drugs in one of the room, causing fire to erupt inside the room. (WAFA, Maannews 1 October 2017) • Israeli occupation Army (IOA) have "tortured and humiliated" a Palestinian child during his arrest and detention in Israel's Ofer prison. The 14-year-old Suleiman Salem al-Dibs were detained from his home in Aida refugee camp in the southern occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem on Sep. 18. The IOA stormed the boy's home at 3 a.m., damaging the family's property. Soldier took Suleiman outside of the house, slammed him against a wall and assaulted him, and put him in tight handcuffs. -

Adalah’s Newsletter, Volume 63, August 2009 The New Israeli Land Reform August 2009 Background On 3 August 2009, the Knesset (Israeli parliament) passed the Israel Land Administration (ILA) Law (hereinafter the “Land Reform Law”), with 61 Members of Knesset (MKs) voting in favor of the law and 45 MKs voting against it. The new land reform law is wide ranging in scope: it institutes broad land privatization; permits land exchanges between the State and the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemet Le-Israel) (hereinafter - the “JNF”), the land of which is exclusively reserved for the Jewish people; allows lands to be allocated in accordance with "admissions committee" mechanisms and only to candidates approved by Zionist institutions working solely on behalf of the Jewish people; and grants decisive weight to JNF representatives in a new Land Authority Council, which would replace the Israel Land Administration (ILA). The land privatization aspects of the new law also affect extremely prejudicially properties confiscated by the state from Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel; Palestinian refugee property classified as “absentee” property; and properties in the occupied Golan Heights and in East Jerusalem. Land Privatization Policy The law stipulates that 800,000 dunams of land currently under state-control will be privatized, enabling private individuals to acquire ownership rights in them. The reform will lead to the transfer of ownership in leased properties and land governed by outline plans enabling the issuance of building permits throughout the State of Israel in the urban, rural and agricultural sectors. Change in the organizational structure of the Israel Lands Administration The reform further stipulates a broad organizational re-structuring of the ILA. -

Radicalization of the Settlers' Youth: Hebron As a Hub for Jewish Extremism
© 2014, Global Media Journal -- Canadian Edition Volume 7, Issue 1, pp. 69-85 ISSN: 1918-5901 (English) -- ISSN: 1918-591X (Français) Radicalization of the Settlers’ Youth: Hebron as a Hub for Jewish Extremism Geneviève Boucher Boudreau University of Ottawa, Canada Abstract: The city of Hebron has been a hub for radicalization and terrorism throughout the modern history of Israel. This paper examines the past trends of radicalization and terrorism in Hebron and explains why it is still a present and rising ideology within the Jewish communities and organization such as the Hilltop Youth movement. The research first presents the transmission of social memory through memorials and symbolism of the Hebron hills area and then presents the impact of Meir Kahana’s movement. As observed, Hebron slowly grew and spread its population and philosophy to the then new settlement of Kiryat Arba. An exceptionally strong ideology of an extreme form of Judaism grew out of those two small towns. As analyzed—based on an exhaustive ethnographic fieldwork and bibliographic research—this form of fundamentalism and national-religious point of view gave birth to a new uprising of violence and radicalism amongst the settler youth organizations such as the Hilltop Youth movement. Peace Now’s Annual Settlement Construction Report for 2017 Construction Starts in Settlements were 17% Above Average in 2017 78% of Construction was in “Isolated Settlements”* Settlement Watch, Peace Now Key findings – Construction in the West Bank, 2017 (East Jerusalem excluded) 1 According to Peace Now's count, 2,783 new housing units began construction in 2017, around 17% higher than the yearly average rate since 2009.2 78% (2,168 housing units) of the new construction was in settlements east of the proposed Geneva Initiative border, i.e. settlements that are likely to be evicted in a two-state agreement. 36% (997 housing units) of the new construction was in areas that are east of the route of the separation barrier. Another 46% (1,290 units) was between the built and the planned route of the fence. Only 18% was west of the built fence. At least 10% (282 housing units) of the construction was illegal according to the Israeli laws applied in the Occupied Territories (regardless of the illegality of all settlements according to the international law). Out of those, 234 units (8% of the total construction) were in illegal outposts. The vast majority of the new construction, 91% (2,544 housing units), was for permanent structures, while that the remainder 9% were new housing units in the shape of mobile homes both in outposts and in settlements. 68 new public buildings (such as schools, synagogues etc.) started to be built, alongside 69 structures for industry or agriculture. Advancement of Plans and Tenders (January-December 2017) 6,742 housing units were advanced through promotions of plans for settlements, in 59 different settlements (compared to 2,657 units in 2016). -

Israeli sovereignty over the western two-thirds of the Golan Heights is a key bulwark against radical regimes and affiliates that threaten the security and stability of the United States, Israel, the entire Middle East region, and beyond. The Golan Heights consists of strategically-located high ground, that provides Israel with an irreplaceable ability to monitor and take counter-measures against growing threats at and near the Syrian-Israel border. These growing threats include the extremely dangerous hegemonic expansion of the Iranian-Syrian-North Korean axis; and the presence in Syria, close to the Israeli border, of: Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Quds forces; thousands of Iranian-armed Hezbollah fighters; Palestinian Islamic Jihad (another Iranian proxy); Syrian forces; and radical Sunni Islamist groups including the al Nusra Levantine Conquest Front (an incarnation of al Qaeda) and ISIS. The Iranian regime is attempting to build an 800-mile land bridge to the Mediterranean, running through Iraq and Syria. -

The built up part of the village is in Area B and is home to most of the 16,000 Palestinian residents. Most of Beit Om- mar’s farmland, on the other hand, is located in Area C. Since the beginning of the occupation in 1967, Israel has confiscated thousands of dunums of land from the Palestinian residents in order to establish Jewish-only settlements in the area. The settlements of Karmei Tsur, Kfar Etzion, Migdal Oz, and Bat Ayin were all built on land confiscated from Beit Ommar. In the early 1980s, Israel confiscated up- vated.This land can then be converted for wards of 2,000 dunums of Palestinian land settlement usage. to create the settlement of Karmei Tsur.
