(2) Regions to be researched Major data about agricultural production and amount of harvest for agro crops were collected for all land resources in Uzbekistan on province -by-province basis. In addition, a detailed study was conducted in Samarkand, Fergana, Namangan and Navoi province to consider future proposals for assistance with following reasons. - Samarkand Province has the largest production of fruit trees, vegetables and other horticultural crops in the country, but improvements are required for the whole FVC such as logistics and storage. - In Fergana state there are many farmers with relatively small cultivated land area, in the mountainous area .As these conditions are similar many with in Japan in there is a high possibility that Japan's technology and experience can be utilized. - In Namangan province, support from other donors is not sufficient. - Navoi province is a dairy farming area, but agriculture diversification is promoted with expanding production of horticultural crops. 1 (3) Structure of projects Collection of basic information Literature research Intergovernmental trends Projects related to MAFF’s ・ Assessment of requests Statistics, national ”Central Asia plus Japan” FVC (Russia・Uzbekistan) Dialogue from Uzbekistan strategy, legal system, tax ・ Projects implemented by MAFF and MAWR’s joint Project concept system etc. working group etc. proponents Conference in Japan Japanese Opinions of experts Identification of problems and enterprises’ trends important points Consultation confirmation ICR JICA Implementation policy, survey point methodology schedule etc. Reflection Reflection The first field survey Explanation and dialogue of ICR for Uzbek government officials Information collection by local Verification of sub-sectors’ current consultants situation Consultation DFR confirmation Analysis of FVC, extraction of the development agenda JICA ↓ Reflection Preparation of a future support plan The second field survey Explanation and dialogue of DFR for Uzbek government Holding of a debrief session for governmental institutions, officials agribusiness firms・organizations etc. Preparation and submission of FR (contents of the support including priorities, points of attention and the system) Figure
