MEDIA RELEASE to leave Vodafone Australia and join NBN Co in 2014 2pm 12th December, 2013: Vodafone Hutchison Australia Chairman Canning Fok today announced that the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bill Morrow, would leave the company in 2014 to take up the role of CEO of NBN Co.

Bill Morrow joined VHA in March 2012 with a commitment to stabilise Vodafone Australia’s economic performance, fix its network issues and turn around the business. Since then, Bill and the team have completed Vodafone Australia’s largest network investment in recent years and implemented a focused commercial strategy to revive the business, win back customers and improve our customers’ experience.

Canning Fok and , Vodafone’s Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific Chief Executive, said: “Under Bill’s leadership, the Vodafone team has made significant inroads in the delivery of the turnaround strategy and we are confident he is leaving the business well placed to see out the final phase of its recovery. The company’s shareholders are committed to further investment to build the business moving forward and are excited about its future.”

Under Bill’s stewardship, Vodafone Australia has launched Australia’s fastest network in Sydney and Melbourne, coupled with a brand new network nationally; made a clear stand against industry trends to offshore call centres by expanding Vodafone’s Australian presence; and, reshaped international roaming charging.

Mr Morrow extended his thanks to the company’s employees for their tireless commitment and to Vodafone Australia’s shareholders for their ongoing support.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the achievements of the team over the past 21 months. There is an enviable culture within Vodafone that no other business can emulate and it’s this true desire to succeed that will see this brand return to its former position of pride.

“While it has not been an easy decision to leave Vodafone, we have fixed the fundamentals, stabilised the business, invested heavily in the network and we are already starting to see signs of customers coming back.

“At the same time I’m honoured and privileged to be offered the opportunity to lead one of Australia’s most important infrastructure projects which has the potential to shape the nation’s economy and change the lives of all Australians.”
