Serge Attukwei Clottey Serge Attukwei Clottey is known for his work that examines the powerful agency of everyday objects. Working across installation, performance, photography and sculpture, Clottey explores narratives of personal, family and collective histories often relating to trade and migration. Based in Accra and working internationally, Clottey, the creator of Afrogallonism, an artistic concept that comments on consumption within modern Africa through the utilization of yellow gallon containers. Through cutting, drilling, stitching and melting found materials, Clottey’s sculptural installations are bold assemblages that act as a means of inquiry into questions of form and history. As the founder of Ghana’s GoLokal performance collective, Clottey sees art as a way to transform society. With aspects of activism prevalent in his practice, his works challenge convention and advocate the importance of creativity. b. 1985, Accra, Ghana Lives and Works in Accra, Ghana Education 2006 - 2007 Escola Guignard, Belo Horizonte, Brazil 2000 - 2004 Ghanatta College of Art and Design, Accra Ghana Exhibitions 2020 "Softening Borders"- The Moody Center for the Arts At Rice University - Houston - USA 2019 "Solo Chorus"- The Mistake Room Los Angeles - USA "Sometimes in Your Life" - Lorenzelli Arte - Italy 2019 KUBATANA, Vestfossen Kunstlaboratorium, Norway Fabrica, Brighton, UK 2018 Brighton University, UK 360LA, Accra, Ghana Depart foundation, Malibu, California USA Defying the Narrative Ever gold Projects, San Francisco, USA Differences Between

IN THE NEWS a compilation of Steamboat Institute Press Coverage 2019 Friends, The Steamboat Institute’s mission of defending the nation’s first principles has been amplified by a steady drumbeat of state and national press coverage. This has allowed our message to echo far beyond the walls of our events, reaching exponentially more people than we could fit in even the largest conference rooms or auditoriums. This booklet provides a sampling of this media presence over 2019. I am proud to say it is on par or even exceeds the presence of some of the biggest and most well-established state think tanks. In addition to news coverage, this booklet contains a stream of op-eds I have written for state and local publications which allows us to put forth a fuller and more persuasive case for free minds and free markets. This booklet only contains our print media coverage. The Steamboat Institute has also been regularly featured on Colorado radio stations (with reach throughout the Rocky Mountain region), and our latest Freedom Conference and Campus Liberty Tour were covered by C-SPAN. Please take a moment to browse through this booklet to gain a deeper understanding of The Steamboat Institute’s priorities, scope, and influence on the public debate we care so much about. My mom and I are side by side in the back seat of a yellow taxi, making our way up Eleventh Avenue in Manhattan on a dead-cold day in December. We hardly ever take cabs. COLEBROOKDALE RAILROAD A HERITAGE TOURIST RAILROAD BERKS AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES, PENNSYLVANIA PLAN AND PROPOSAL 2013 S E C R E T V A L L E Y L I N E We are joined together in what providence has afforded as a wonderful opportunity for Berks and Montgomery Counties and the region as a whole. We believe a new day is dawning for the venerable steel trail of the Colebrookdale Railroad and the communities it connects. We are pleased to introduce the enclosed plan and proposal for a heritage tourist passenger operation on the Colebrookdale that will be a game-changer for local economies. Currently, the Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust is engaged in planning a tourist railroad to enable the public to enjoy the treasures of the Secret Valley of the Colebrookdale. Such an attraction will take advantage of a large heritage and recreational tourism opportunity gap identified by the Schuylkill Highlands Conservation Landscape Initiative. Restoration and preservation work associated with the railroad will offer hands-on learning opportunities for high school and college students. The Colebrookdale will introduce the rich industrial, Native American, and geologic histories of one of the nations oldest iron-making hubs. It will geographically and thematically connect the areass major heritage and recreational tourist sites and preserve this important rail link for future freight service. や 2 3 G O A L S: heやColebrookdaleやRailroadやPreservationや TrustやcelebratesやtheややrichやNativeや To build a partnership of local American,やColonial,やIndustrial,やandや attractions to offer a unified, integrated, CulturalややandやGeologicやHeritageやofやtheや and multi-dimensional visitor experience that is economically sustainable and ManatawnyやandやIronstoneValleysや regionally catalytic.
