The European Artist Santiago Ribeiro Exhibit in London, UK, for the First Time and Leads the Surrealism Now Exhibition to the Portuguese City of Marinha Grande The European artist Santiago Ribeiro exhibit in London, UK, for the first time and leads the Surrealism Now exhibition to the Portuguese city of Marinha Grande Chelsea, London 22 – 24 February 2019 Marinha Grande, Vieira de Leiria 26 January - 31 March 2019 Coimbra / London, 06/01/2019 - The art of the Portuguese artist Santiago Ribeiro will be for the first time in British lands more precisely in the city of London. And as the promoter and creator of the world largest 21st century surrealist art exhibition, the International Surrealism Now, he takes now the show to the city of Marinha Grande in Portugal at Vieira de Leiria Gallery becoming the 13th edition since its creation in 2010 with the largest show organized by the Bissaya Barreto Foundation. Meanwhile the exhibition Surrealism Now is open to the public at the House of Culture of Coimbra in Portugal until January 19, 2019 To the United Kingdom he was invited by the Parallax Art Fair manager, Mr Tom Moore, to exhibit at Chelsea Town Hall in London. PAF developed from an international exhibition called “Parallax” in 2009. Although independent, it still forms an investigative research process, which makes it unique in terms of open exhibitions and fairs designed for exhibitors and designers. Practically, PAF is a new kind of event and different from a dealer fair that many exhibitors may have experienced. One of its aims is to encourage exhibitors and designers to think about their business role. Below is the painting "Butterflies" arrived a few time ago from China Taiwan where was selected to be on Get Art Museum at Art Revolution Taipei will go now to be exhibit in London. Note: The renowned cultural magazine, The Culture Trip, named 10 Portuguese artists as the most internationally recognized at the present time and Santiago Ribeiro it is one of them. Also after an impressive multimedia show on the giant screens of Times Square in New York Ribeiro's work has been featured at the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon , in the Portuguese American Journal , in Digital Meets Culture , Pressenza fr , metroNews.ru , Pravda in Portuguese , The Herald News , ARTVOICE , Associated Press , EFE , APA ots, AAP , Reuters , ANA , News Aktuell and many other publications... ABSTRACT Key words: Neogene; Portugal. Aftera briefhistorical introduction, this paper deals with the main concerned geotectonic units: the Lower Tagus and Alvalade basins, the Western and Southern borders, and their infillings. Most of the Neogene events and record concern areas South of the Iberian Central Chain, a nearly inverse situation as that of Paleogene times. In the most important of these units, the Lower Tagus basin, there are quite thick detrital series, mostly marine in its distal part near Lisboa (albeit with several continental intercalations), and mainly continental in its inner part. Sedimentological record is almost complete since Lowermost to Upper Miocene. The richness ofdata (paleontology, isotope chronology, paleoclimate, etc.) it gives and the possibility of direct marine-continental correlations render this basin one of the more interesting ones in Western Europe. Alvalade basin is separated from the previous one by a barrier ofPaleozoic rocks. Two transgressions events (UpperTortonian and Messinian in age) are recorded. Active sedimentation may be correlated to Late Miocene tectonics events. In Algarve, chiefly marine units from Lower to Upper Miocene are well developped. The Lower unit (Lagos-Portimao Formation) is best exposed in Western Algarve, but desappears eastwards.

In the late 1920s and 1950s, Portuguese artists established a growing collaboration with the glass industry situated in the Marinha Grande region and started to produce their work alongside glassblowers. The relationship between artists and craftsmen progressively evolved, influencing the evolution of glass design in Portugal. In the last decades, glass factories have tried to enhance the excellence of their products by appointing designers to develop more elaborate concepts for glass pieces, as well as to improve the quality of the material. This essay will answer questions regarding the relationship and boundaries between design and craft in the creation of glass objects in the context of the state of the art of Portuguese glass design, related to the production of glassblowing glass and the region of Marinha Grande due to its historical importance. A case study will be presented regarding the brand MGlass and the new glass designers in the region.
