KARROS: DON’T CROWN PHILADELPHIA NL EAST CHAMPS QUITE YET – MLB on FOX analyst Eric Karros is anxious to get behind the mike this Saturday in Atlanta to call Phillies/Braves. Even though Philadelphia’s rotation makes them the clear favorite in the division to many, Karros likes the pieces that Atlanta has put together and can’t wait to see them match up first hand. “I like the Braves an awful lot because they’re the team in that division that is in a better spot right now health wise,” said Karros. “You’re going to have Chipper Jones , who you didn’t have the last two months of last year, and he had an unbelievable spring. You’ve got Dan Uggla and then you add in the pitching staff with some great young arms. The Phillies have an incredibly loaded rotation but a lot of question marks right now, especially on

Jayson Werth is gone, Placido Polanco has had some injury issues, Ryan Howard is streaky and has had some health issues. So offensively you’re saying; is that going to be the same team? Because of that, I like the Braves, they are a bit more balanced.”

EVERYONE IS RACING SATURDAY NIGHT AT TMS – On Saturday, April 9 (7:00 PM ET) the NASCAR on FOX team heads to Texas Motor Speedway for NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing from Texas. Can Kevin “The Closer” Harvick make it three weeks in a row? After chasing down Jimmie Johnson at Auto Club Speedway and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. at Martinsville, Harvick looks to do it again, this time under the lights at the first ever prime time Sprint Cup race at TMS. Coverage starts with the NASCAR on FOX prerace show hosted by , along with analysts Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Hammond . The show airs live from the infield with updates from the Hollywood Hotel, FOX Sports’ traveling prerace set providing updates from drivers, crewmen and officials shaping the day’s action. Once the green flag drops, the voice of NASCAR is alongside analysts Waltrip and Larry McReynolds to call all the twists and turns on the track while Dick Berggren , Steve Byrnes , Krista Voda and Matt Yocum patrol the pits for reports on teams and pit stops.

BILLICK: THIS YEAR’S QB CROP ISN’T READY TO LEAD A FRANCHISE – NFL on FOX analyst evaluates what he sees from the quarterback position in the 2011 draft class. “The problem I have with this quarterbacking group is we seem to be making excuses for all of them,” said Billick. “A guy like Jake Locker , his lack of completion percentage, we seem to be making an excuse for it. For Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton , it’s the fact that they came out of a spread offense. In each instance, we’re saying it’s going to take time to develop and I don’t know that any of them are prepared to step in and take a franchise from the very first snap like Matt Ryan , Mark Sanchez and Joe Flacco did. Clearly, Gabbert is the best of the bunch. He’s the most ready both physically and maturity wise to step in and maybe lead an organization but I think it’s going to take a while”.

BILLICK: LOCKOUT WILL IMPACT QUARTERBACK POSITION THE MOST AT DRAFT – “The lockout very definitely is affecting this draft, particularly at the quarterback position. There are a number of teams that would like to reach out and maybe get a veteran like Kevin Kolb or Matt Hasselbeck or Marc Bulger . None of that’s going to happen before the draft now. You’re running a bit of a risk if you don’t address the quarterback situation in the draft, that you then after the draft might be able to get one of these guys. There’s no question that the current lack of a collective bargaining agreement is affecting the drafting profile of these quarterbacks.”

ROB DIBBLE TELLS BARFLY: PIRATE PLAYERS USED TO ASK OPPOSING PITCHERS TO HIT THEIR TEAMMATE BARRY BONDS – In a new edition to FOXSports.com’s “Lunch With Benefits” lineup, national columnist Mark Kriegel hosts BARFLY, a candid, topical, sports-centric show where viewers get to eavesdrop on conversations with sport’s and entertainment’s biggest personalities every Tuesday (1:00 PM ET). In this week’s edition, Kriegel sat down with co-anchor of The Insider, Kevin Frazier , and former MLB pitcher Rob Dibble . On the topic of Barry Bonds , Dibble said that during Bonds’ playing days in Pittsburgh, Bonds’ own teammates would ask opposing pitchers to hit Bonds. “I like Barry personally. He’s never been bad to me and has always been respectful to my wife and me, so I deal with him on a different level. When he was with the Pirates, his teammates would come to Norm Charlton and I and say, ‘we’ll give you a steak dinner if you hit him.’” Dibble never hit Bonds.
