Thornton After initially being deadlocked on a Thursday vote to put off implementing anti-whipping regulations that have been repeatedly delayed since first proposed in March 2019, the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) finally voted 4-2 to pass a rule that will prohibit a jockey from striking a mount more than six times during a race, and then only in an underhanded position with no more than two strikes in succession using whips that must meet new CHRB standards to soften the blows. Representatives from the Jockeys' Guild, plus California riders Mike Smith and Aaron Gryder, repeatedly advocated for the board to wait at least one more month before voting on the rule to allow more time for a proposed national whip standards rule to come to fruition. At the conclusion of the third session last term, 519 2- year-olds had summoned $56,217,000 for an average of $108,318 and a median of $65,000. Bloodstock agent Steve Young has signed the ticket on four juveniles thus far, including two colts Thursday. He said that bidding was still competitive on the top horses. AI think there is a lot of competition for the good-looking, quick horses with good mechanics that pass the vet,@ said Young. AI think that for the horses that are perceived to be a tick under that, it gets dicey. It is the same way it=s been for a while. It doesn=t mean the non-elite horses aren=t good horses. I think when you like a horse and go up to the ring to buy it, there is someone up there waiting for you.@ Tonja Terranova, wife of New York-based trainer John Terranova, made just one purchase, but she made it count, going to $425,000 for a son of Quality Road (Hip 628).     Index for Late Registrations and Corrections to Birth Records held at the Greene County Records Center and Archives The late registrations and corrections to Greene County birth records currently held at the Greene County Records Center and Archives were recorded between 1940 and 1991, and include births as early as 1862 and as late as 1989. These records represent the effort of county government to correct the problem of births that had either not been recorded or were not recorded correctly. Often times the applicant needed proof of birth to obtain employment, join the military, or draw on social security benefits. An index of the currently available microfilmed records was prepared in 1989, and some years later, a supplemental index of additional records held by Greene County was prepared. In 2011, several boxes of Probate Court documents containing original applications and backup evidence in support of the late registrations and corrections to the birth records were sorted and processed for archival storage. This new index includes and integrates all the bound and unbound volumes of late registrations and corrections of birth records, and the boxes of additional documents held in the Greene County Archives. The index allows researchers to view a list arranged in alphabetical order by the applicant’s last name. It shows where the official record is (volume and page number) and if there is backup evidence on file (box and file number). A separate listing is arranged alphabetically by mother’s maiden name so that researchers can locate relatives of female relations. Following are listed some of the reasons why researchers should look at the Late Registrations and Corrections to Birth Records: 1.

Many of her picture books have been shortlisted or won awards and three have been chosen as themes for the Myer Christmas windows. Corinne has spent time as the Assistant Regional Advisor for the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators in Australia and as a judge for the Dorothea Mackellar poetry competition. In her picture books, Corinne introduces us to animals who have a special place in Australian history. This is one of them. Mark grew up with a love of comics, drawing, rock music, Australian history and endangered species - exploring most of these themes through his writing, illustrating, paintings and workshops. Mark has won seven Australian National Fine Art awards, five Whitley Awards for children’s literature, nine CBCA Awards, four Wilderness Society Awards and the 3rd C. J. Picture Book International Award. Mark was also presented with the 2011 Dromkeen Medal for Services to Children’s Literature. Mark hopes his books and workshops encourage students to study their own family and local history, as well as native species and conservation.
