3/1/2014 The UConn Club 2014 Auction Rules
1. The auction tables will be open for bidding starting at 9:30 a.m. Auction table closings will be staggered and all patrons are asked to leave the Exhibition Hall immediately after the closing of the last auction table. All tables will be closed prior to the start of the game.
2. Upon your arrival at the auction, please proceed to the registration tables located near the entrance to receive your bidder number. You simply need to provide your name, address and telephone number at the registration table and you will then be issued a bidder number. Please note: you will not be able to bid on any items without a bidder number.
3. The format of the auction will follow that of a silent auction
4. Bid sheets for the silent auction will be located in front of all items on display on the silent auction tables. The tables will be numbered consecutively starting with number 1 then 2 etc. Each bid sheet will state a minimum opening bid and a pre-printed minimum bid increase. Indicate your bid by entering your bidder number and the last four digits of your phone number on the line corresponding to your bid. You do not have to bid sequentially on the bid sheet and may skip down to the line with the amount you wish to bid.
5. Only registered bidders may bid. Bids from unregistered bidders will be disqualified and illegible bids may be disqualified. Patrons should bid on items by clearly printing their bidder number and last four digits of their phone number on the row next to their bid amount. The digits of the phone number used must be the same as on the Bidder’s initial registration sheet.
6. Patrons may bid and re-bid on as many items as they would like. Each new bid must be written legibly on a new line with both the bidder number and last four digits from your phone number. If you are unsure please ask for help from a UConn Club representative stationed behind the table.
7. Do not cross out any previous bids. If you made an error on your bid, you must inform a representative of The UConn Club located behind the table. They will assist you on how to handle the matter.
8. Starting approximately at 11:15 p.m., tables will close one at a time as determined by the auction committee. The Public Address announcer will announce the closing of each table, approximately one every 5 minutes. All bidding must cease at the closing of the table and all bid sheets will be immediately collected. Any bidding made after the table has been closed will be invalid.
9. IN THE EVENT THAT SEVERAL BIDDERS ARE PRESENT AT THE CLOSING OF A TABLE AND ARE VYING FOR THE SAME ITEM, PLEASE NOTIFY ONE OF THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UCONN CLUB BEHIND THE TABLE. THEY WILL GIVE EACH BIDDER A PIECE OF PAPER AND ASK THE BIDDER TO WRITE DOWN THEIR BIDDER NUMBER, NAME AND THEIR LAST&FINAL BID, AND THE ITEM WILL BE AWARDED TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. IF THE FINAL BIDS ARE THE SAME, THE PROCESS WILL REPEAT UNTIL THERE IS A WINNER. NEW BIDS MUST MEET THE MINIMUM INCREMENT REQUIREMENT.
10. The winning bidder numbers will be posted at the stairway entrances to the Exhibition Hall after the basketball game. If you have any questions, check back with the Bank area of the Auction.
11. The winning auction bidders can pay for and collect their items after the game, approximately 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. The winners should go to the auction bank and provide their name.
12. The UConn Club does not provide for parking for the auction for either attending or pickup. There are numerous garages and street parking in close proximity.
13. No auction items can be paid for and collected prior to the end of the game.
14. All winning bidders are expected to pay for and take their items. No items will be disbursed without full payment.
15. Cash, checks, MasterCard, and VISA will be accepted. Sorry, no American Express or Discover Cards will be accepted. Debit cards will also be accepted but will use a signature authorization instead of PIN entry.
16. Upon paying, the winning bidders will receive a receipt, which they will present at the merchandise disbursement area to collect their items.
17. All sales are final.
18. Descriptions of the items have been made with reasonable effort to describe each item correctly, but all items are sold "where is" and "as is" and without warranty or representation of any kind, as to the correctness of description, genuineness, authenticity, condition, quality, of fitness for any purpose.
19. Values set forth opposite the items being auctioned are estimates only, and are not guaranteed by The UConn Club for tax purposes or general value.
20. All items have been donated to The UConn Club and are sold by it and not by the donor. Purchasers are politely, but urgently, requested not to ask for refunds or exchanges from donors without permission from The UConn Club. Unless otherwise specified, donors are requested not to grant refunds or exchanges without permission from The UConn Club.
21. All attendees grant The UConn Club the right to use their image.
22. Any dispute or situation not covered by the above rules will be resolved by The UConn Club Board of Directors in a manner deemed by them to be fairest to all concerned, and that discussion shall be final and / or binding.
23. Anyone bidding on an item with alcohol must be at least 21 years of age.
