The Department of Health rank-and-file employees have dedicated a lot of their time and effort to fulfill somebody's wish for this agency to be ISO-certified, even if it meant working overtime and on weekends polishing its systems and cleaning its processes to achieve quality management. Although many staff found it very hard to comply with the requirements, they saw the importance of the ISO in increasing their work efficiency. They hope that the top people in the organization would have a heart to provide their needs too.

ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED NEWSPAPER 31 August 2013 24 Shawwal 1434 - Volume 18 Number 5808 Price: QR2 ON SATURDAY Obama talks tough; Syria strike set WASHINGTON/PARIS: The US made clear yesterday that it would punish Syrian President Bashar Al Assad for the “brutal and flagrant” chemical weapons attack that it says killed more than 1,400 people in Damascus last week. “We can not accept a world where women and children and innocent civilians are gassed on a terrible scale,” President Barack Obama told reporters at the White House. Obama insisted any military action he takes on Syria will be narrow and limited and not an open-ended, long-term com- mitment, nor would it involve US troops on the ground. An attack could happen as soon as today. As he spoke, the US intel- ligence community released a report that said an August 21 chemical weapons attack in a Damascus suburb killed 1,429 people, including at least 426 children. “We cannot accept a world where women and children and innocent civilians are gassed on a terrible scale,” he said, calling the attack a threat to US “national security interests” and slammed the “incapacity” of the UN Security Council to act. Secretary of State John Kerry said it was essential not to let Syria get away with the attack, partly as a sign to those who might consider using chemical weapons in the future. With France affirming its support for a military response to punish Assad’s gov- ernment, the statements from Obama and Kerry appeared to harden the resolve for a US attack despite Thursday’s British par- liamentary “no” vote that left Washington without one of its closest allies.
