There is always a project underway or in the planning. The latest one is essential repair work following storm damage in February when a large section of barge board was blown down from the building – thankfully not to the detriment of property or people as this all happened in the early hours of the morning. The project involves refurbishment of the timber barge, capping and fascia boards on all four gables thus ensuring no repetition and preserving the roof of the building for the foreseeable future. Grant applications were made to South West Housing Society Community Fund, Viridor Credits and the Big Lottery Fund (Awards for All) all of which have been successful resulting in sums of £400, £3,600 and £3,000 respectively, towards the £9,600 project. The balance will come from our own funds. We hope work will be underway in the near future.
