In case of an equal number of series points, the number of participated events will decide, if that is equal, prizes will be divided equally. 4. Overall Series Points Calculation: 4.1 For each participated tournament, players will receive points (P), which are the sum of tournament points and bonus points. P = TP + BP. Tournament points are the sum of percentage scores and rank points TP = PS+KP, bonus points are points awarded for participation multiplied by the tournament coefficient BP=K*B, where P = game points achieved in the tournament, TP = tournament points, TP = PS + KP, PS = percentage score: game points divided by the number rounds, multiplied by 100% (maximum possible value 100) KP = rank points (additional points awarded for the I, II and III places), BP = bonus points for one tournament, BP = KB, K = tournament coefficient; mostly 1, depends on the prize fund of the tournament B = 5 points awarded for participation. 4.2 Tournament coefficient K equals the sum of the number of days played in the tournament (minimum K=1) and prize fund coefficient. • One day tournament K=1, • Two-day tournament K=2 etc • If the prize fund of the tournament is 1500-2499 euros, K will be larger by one (K+1). • If the prize fund of the tournament is 2500-4999 euros, K will be larger by two (K+2). • If the prize fund of the tournament is over 5000 euros, K will be larger by three (K+3). 4.3. Rank points KP. The first place in a tournament will be awarded 15, second place 10 and third place 5 rank points. If tournament tie-breaks are equal, all players who share a place will be awarded the same number of rank points. 4.4 Bonus points B. Participating in a tournament will give 5 bonus points B. Players are eligible if they play at least 50% of the rounds. 5. Eligibility for Overall Series Prizes 5.1 A player has to participate in at least 10 tournaments belonging to the series to be eligible for the overall prizes. 5.2 Youth players have to participate in at least 5 general (open to all players) tournaments of the series, to be eligible for the overall prizes, 5.3 Overall series points are calculated as the sum of the 10 best tournament points TP, to which bonus points BP from all tournaments will be added. 6. Youth tournaments 6.1 Separate calculation rules will apply to the youth tournaments 6.2 If participation is restricted to players under age X, then the percentage score will be multiplied by a coefficient Y=(X- 4)/20 (or P=Y*PS+KP+BP), as follows: • U18 tournaments: Y = 0.7, • U16 tournaments: Y = 0.6, • U14 tournaments: Y = 0.5, • U12 tournaments: Y = 0.4, • U10 tournaments: Y = 0.3, • An exception will be the H. Hanssoo Memorial which is a U19 tournament, but will be calculated with the coefficient 0.7 6.3 In youth tournaments, 8 rank points will be awarded for the first place, 5 rank points for the second place and 3 rank points for the third place. 7. Information 7.1 The Chief Arbiter of the Estonia 100 chess tournament series will be IA Marek Kolk, who is also responsible for the overall series points calculation. 7.2. Regulations of tournaments belonging to the series will be published in the on-line calendar of the Estonian Chess Federation, and it is recommended that registration will be done via the on-line system 7.3. It is the responsibility of the organizers of a tournament to ensure that the competition takes place at the time indicated in the calendar (the time of the competition can be changed only if there is a substantial reason and if approved by the series organizing committee, who should be notified at least 30 days in advance) 7.4 Logos of supporters and sponsors will be displayed at all competitions belonging to the series, that will be arranged by the Estonian Chess Federation. 7.5 All possible protests will be addressed by the organizing committee (Chief Arbiter Marek Kolk; organizer of the particular competition; and representative of the Estonian Chess Federation, IO Hendrik Olde). 7.6 Rating prize calculation will be based on the player’s Estonian rapid rating as of 1 January 2018, if a player does not have a rapid rating, Estonian standard chess rating as of 1 January 2018 will be used.

As I had expected, it was a difficult task. When you’ve had a long career in chess, and played many thousands of games, there will be hundreds among them on which you can look back with satisfaction. Siegbert Tarrasch published his book Dreihundert Schachpartien in 1895, when he was 33 years old. In such a case, with so many games, the selection process is much ‘looser’. In 1998, Anatoly Karpov also published a selection of 300 games from a period of three decades. Thus, he, too, had more freedom to show all his special victories to the public. I myself published Timman’s Selected Games with Cadogan in 1995, which was brought out by New In Chess under the title Chess the Adventurous Way. It features 80 games from the period 1983-1994. Curiously, I have only included 10 games from that selection in this book. This illustrates the difficulties I experienced with my new selection.

  • Eesti Naiste Maleliikumine Ärkas Hilja Nagu Eelmises Malenurgas Lubatud Sai, Siis Teeme Seekord Juttu Eesti Naiste Malemeistriv
Eesti naiste maleliikumine ärkas hilja Nagu eelmises malenurgas lubatud sai, siis teeme seekord juttu Eesti naiste malemeistrivõistluste ajaloost. Kui esimesed Eesti meeste meistrivõistlused leidsid aset juba aastavahetusel 1922/1923, siis naiste seas selgitati esmakordselt parim alles pärast II maailmasõda, 1945. aasta sügisel. Eesti naiste maleliikumise kohta enne II maailmasõda leiame andmeid üsna napilt. Heino Hindre koostatud raamatust “Male Eestis” (1965) saame lugeda: “1925. a on tähiseks meie naiste maleliikumise ajaloos. Esmakordselt toimus Tartus maleturniir tütarlastele, millest võttis osa seitse mängijat. Turniiri võitis Hint (5 p). Esimese võistluse naismaletajaile korraldas Eesti Koolinoorsoo Keskliidu Tartu osakonna malesektsioon. Turniiri võitja nimetati Tartu keskkoolide naismeistriks. Kuid möödus veel 11 aastat, enne kui jõuti esimeste Eesti esivõistluste korraldamiseni naismaletajatele.” 1926. aastal tütarlaste malevõistluste korraldamine Tartus jätkus, turniiri võitis Alma Palm 7 punktiga 8st, järgnesid Endla Tamm (6 p) ja Nadežda Peterson (5 p). Uusi teateid Eesti naiste maleliikumise kohta leiame eelpool nimetatud teosest “Male Eestis” (1965) seoses järgmiste ridadega: “Oli möödunud 11 aastat, kui jälle korraldati turniir naismaletajatele. See toimus 1936. a oktoobris. Korraldajaks oli TEMS (Tallinna Eesti Maleselts). Turniiri võitis Maria Orav, kes oli kaua Eesti “Vera Menchikuks”...” Siinkohal olgu lisatud, et Vera Menchik (1906-1944) oli esimene naiste maailmameister aastail 1927-1944, kes oma tollastest rivaalidest

  • Geschichte Die Jahre 1986-1993

When we started this e-magazine over a year ago we had no idea whether it would have any interest or not. It would be hard to gauge any success White Knight apart from offering a free subscription and gathering an email list and seeing if that Review would grow to any great length. I must say I was pleasantly Chess E-Magazine surprised to see how much that email list has grown in a year. Checking stats on our website has also helped to Executive Editor/Writer By Bill measure hits and visits and again we were delighted to see a slow but steady growth each month. Bill Wall [email protected] Wall Printing this magazine at this time would certainly be cost prohibited but by making it an e-magazine we could offer it as a free download costing us only the labor and Feature website cost.
