Annual Report Huronia Communities Foundation Close to $300,000 Grants Given Since Start-Up in 2000 Annual Report 2005 - 2006 Year Ended March 31, 2006 Strengthening Community Philanthropy Vision To enhance and help sustain Huronia with its heritage and natural splendour, as a good place in which to live and to share our prosperity through philanthropy. Mission To spread awareness of and increase philanthropy To build and prudently manage community endowments To delight donors by exceeding their expectations To grant monies with integrity, sensitivity and creativity To match philanthropy with community needs Guiding Principles We seek recognized leaders who through their skills bring leadership to the community. We nurture and build on our community’s strengths and assets. We form, encourage and support collaborations and partnerships. We believe there is strength in diversity and that our communities will be better served when we understand different points of view and engage the broader community in our deliberations and decision-making. We engage in practices that are open and accessible, fair and objective, flexible and timely. We evaluate our activities to improve our skills and knowledge and we will share key findings with others. Because our core activities are interdependent, we commit to balance our human and financial resources among them. These guiding principles are essential to our role as credible and reputable stewards of community resources. “We are philanthropy. We all make up this community of giving. Whether you are a charity, a donor, a grant recipient or a concerned citizen, philanthropy touches us all. It’s our job – and great privilege – to act as a link in this chain of giving. It’s your devotion to our community that makes it such a rewarding mission.” Community Foundation of Ottawa which in 2005 distributed over 3 million dollars in grants from Endowment Funds worth over 87 million dollars.
